Lovely site

Always busy but very friendly wardens no matter how busy they are, a lovely lady guided my largish Motorhome in with me to a perfect position Great for dogs as it has a secure dog walk which is useful for my husky as I can let her off lead there and also you go through the gate and you are in the grounds of chatsworth Cleanliness and facilities are outstanding

Go for the house and the park

Earlier indifferent reviews tell the problems. Navigating, its a definite 'no' to sat-nav: you will need to find the A619 Baslow and follow the book. The site is cramped, but that is an incidence of its popularity - so don't expect space or privacy unless you are lucky to get one of few select pitches. And with higher density pitches comes the inevitable issue of noise, but this is manageable unless you are really unlucky with your neighbours (which like LizB70) we were, feeling crowded by the adjacent awning, conversation and visiting grandchild). But a visit to Chatsworth is not simply to camp, but to explore the park, fabulous walks, the gardens and, of course, the house. We recommend a full day for the house and gardens. The guided garden walk is a 'must'. Check the times for this. The farm shop at Pilsley is superb and offers the very best produce at credible prices. Finally, take a walk to the Chatsworth garden centre, and return on the circular walk via Edensor. This will make your trip worthwhile!

Caravan Club New App

Enjoyed a weekend at the site, however I made the mistake of using the new Caravan app to book online. Two errors with the online booking caused problems. 1:- The post code directed me to Chatsworth House. 2. Arrival time stated 12.00hrs to 16.00hrs. The warden when we arrived was very rude because we arrived at 12.15. If I had gone on to their own website no of the above would have occurred, so please update the new app.

Very busy site.

This is a very busy site, don't go if you want peace and quiet. That said, it was a lovely place to base yourself for the Peaks with access to Chatsworth Park which seems to have lots of events going on. The site is set amongst trees so many pitches are shaded (or you could say dismal) all day. But the site is well run, clean and great wardens. The only thing that really spoilt it for us were neighbours with a continental motorhome with their open awning facing our awning, this meant we had no privacy at all as they had parked the van on the prescribed peg so they were inches away from us. Probably would not go again - been there, done that.

Dissapointed

We have just returned from 12 nights at Chatsworth and I would start by saying the Wardens ,as usual, do a tremendous job. We arrived on a Thursday just gone 3 and pitches were very limited. There are about 30 pitches on site which are in the open with sufficient grass to have a day lounging if you wish. The remainder are covered by trees. Some areas are just expanses of gravel with no grass at all.We were woke at 0615 the first morning by Biffa collecting the recycled material including the glass which made an horrendous noise coupled with the men shouting to each other.I spoke to the warden who were sympathetic and the next week we had an extra hour lay in.The facilities as usual were kept very clean. This is obviously a popular destinations for dog lovers so why do they then shut them in their caravans whilst they walk round Chatsworth. Its only natural they will bark and boy did they bark.We may have been just unlucky but this is the noisiest site we have stayed on and yes you guessed it we will not be returning. One last point the description on the second line "the Chatsworth Park Caravan Club Site in Bakewell offers nostalgic views of the sheep-cropped rolling countryside" is just not true you are more than likely to be surrounded by trees

Another return visit

We made Chatsworth our lourney-break on our way home from 2 weeks in Cornwall. It is all ways a pleasure to come to this site, a privlage to be able to access the estate grounds and walk, stroll or just sit and enjoy the beauty of it all.We have been here a few times and always love being here. A victim of its own success you have to take pot luck with where you get a pitch as it is always so busy. Not all the pitches are ideal as there are a lot of trees which makes for a lot of blotting out the light, this would never stop us from returning. Facilities are excellent especially the showers which give you space, not all sites are as good as this,a big tick in the box. Finally there is the joy of the baby ducks at this time of year, priceless. Thanks also to the excellent team of wardens.

fab site

A great little site backing straight onto the grounds of Chatsworth house. You even get a key to enter the outer grounds day or night. Wild deer running around the grounds at night, what more can you ask for. The site was spotless. The only thing I can say is visit this site. The only negative is that its so hard to get booked on as this is such a popular site its always booked up.

Beutiful site

Love chatsworth the wardens always are really friendly can't believe how hard it must be to keep the site so clean and tidy and all the trees are just part of chatsworth just a word on arriving early we have over a 2 hour journey to get here and it's not easy to judge how long it will take with traffic but always arrive after 1 even though we might be behind several cars the lane is a bottle neck and they have to think if they needed an emergency vehicle to get down so moning about been told to wait after arriving at 12 amazes me he still managed to get to the front of the que for not playing the game like every one else I always check arrivel times before getting to a new site "don't we all"

chatsworth

The campsite is fine. The surrounding Chatsworth estate is fantastic. Baslow the local village has good pubs and restaurants. We had booked and printed the booking form to carry with us. The form clearly states that arrival time is between 12 noon and 2pm (I guess this is the standard booking time for most sites. We arrived at 12 noon but the lady on reception said it clearly says on the entry gates no arrivals before 1pm. We showed her the form and she said we should read the smaller print lower down. She refused to let us find a pitch so that we could then return at 1oclock. Her excuse for this was that she was having her lunch. At one o'clock we were allowed to find a pitch. It was obvious that we had not intended to arrive early and it would have been no trouble just ask us to find a pitch. It is not so easy turning round and finding somewhere to park for an hour. There were many passing places on the lane to the site but each one saying no parking. The site also charges a 10p premium on newspapers.Lots of signs telling you what you can't do. Very few inviting you to participate. In conclusion. Great site but very poor reception

nice but room for improvement.

first of all, 5 stars for friendliness of staff and cleanliness of site and blocks,but.. pitches were only just covered with chippings so were muddy, caravan club needs to spend a bit on that.most pitches were set under trees and although I like trees they were over hanging too much and when it rained it was like hailstones hitting the roof, parts were also falling off onto roof so quite dangerous too, would not like to stay there in windy conditions,be warned!!!very dark also and cold, perhaps need a chainsaw to sort that out??dog area stinking would not like to have a pitch close to that!overall great area and nice site but issue of trees and chippings needs sorting? would I be back...yes if I could have a pitch clear of the trees and dog walk?????
