PS

PS. Don't expect a lie-in beyond 6am with the noisy cockrell on site! And good luck negotiating Stockport if you take The Club's recommended route from Junction 1 of the M60.

Needs more washroom facilities

Another pleasant stay during the hottest week of the year! Wardens friendly and doing good job especially at change-over time managing new arrivals. However, especially in view of the warm weather, could members please remember that awnings have ZERO sound insulation properties, and with the added necessity of having windows & vents open for air when trying to sleep, could I again suggest that wardens do a polite stroll around the site last thing ensuring a silence curfew is being obeyed by all "residents". Also, could the dog-walk have another entrance to it? It can be just that too far to get one's dog to the only entrance to the walk first thing in the morning, 'though thankfully there are additional poo bins around the site. More toilet facilities required - particularly at peak times. But all in all friendly wardens and fellow campers. We shall certainly save up to return in a few more years. Certainly a good base for touring this area of Derbyshire, but on our stay it was too hot to walk to Chatsworth House from the site - and the £4 parking charge put us off visiting and spending any money at the "House" as we have previous years.

Been There, Done That, Next!!

This was our first visit to the ‘Jewel in the Crown’ of the CC network, having booked relatively late despite the oft claimed difficulty in getting a booking in the school summer holidays. It was also the highest fees we have paid for a pitch anywhere. There were 6 empty pitches in the row we were in, and probably 80% occupancy overall. Arrival time wasn’t a cause for concern having travelled over 200 miles from home. Check in was very much more formal than the other country estate CC sites we have used (Longleat & Bladon Chains). The super service sans awning pitch was just long enough to pitch our caravan on with a space to the side to sit in chairs. The walk through the secret door onto the Chatsworth Estate was pleasurable on the first afternoon. We spent a full day wandering the House & Gardens using the CC discount that only applies to adults only, not children, and were horrified a further ticket was required for the childrens play area, we didn’t bother. There is a sign saying to turn left at the junction with the main road on exiting, needs to be much bigger as it clearly couldn’t be seen by the 2 units attempting to turn right causing a hold up on the way out. A nice site, but not that special and certainly not for the fee charged. We had to be in the area for a family gathering and it was available despite the hype over difficulty in getting a booking. In summary, been there done that, next!!

First visit to Chatsworth Park caravan site

First time we have stayed at this site, which was recommended by friends who have stayed at this site numerous times. We were not disappointed. We even managed to stay an extra four nights due to other cancellations.  Beautiful setting on the Chatsworth estate.  Lovely walks. Site very clean, although some of the trees should be cut back, that's if it would be allowed. Warden's very friendly and helpful.  Lots of local information available which is very useful.  Had a lovely meal at the Devonshire Arms, highly recommended, but do advised booking.  We will definitely be returning to Chatsworth Park site. Already looking at dates.

Nice place to stop for a few days.

This is my second time I've stayed on this site. I forgot about the issues getting into the site but as long as you turn up at the right time the system works well.  A minor niggle was the loos in the morning can get busy and you might have to wait a bit.  We was treated to the concert on Friday night which was great to hear and it finished on time, and I never paid a thing to get in.  Would I go back ? Yes we would, however I think I have overdone  myself on the area so maybe not for a few years. The main reason for this trip was to show an Ozy relation staying here with us some nice parts of England. She loved the site and location . Win win !

Best on the network

Just had 2 great weeks on site, wardens spot on helpful and very friendly, the only issue we had was not with the site but other members, as Chatsworth access is limited when booking in the driver is asked to stay with vehicle, consider those sat out near the entrance and turn your engine off ! It's an easy thing to do motorhome drivers just turn the key and all goes quiet thanks

Wonderful

What a wonderful site. We stayed on a super pitch which was perfectly placed, separated by hedges, and of a good size. The wardens were super friendly, helpful and of good humour. I cant recommend this site highly enough. The key to the gate into Chatsworth estate is a bonus too! Perfect location, perfect site. Well done Caravan Club, you got this one right. This has certainly restored my faith in the CC after our awful time at Bourton last month.

A lovely site

We have stayed at this site twice already this season. It is an excellent place to stay with really good facilities. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The area has plenty to see and do with some of the best countryside . We will certainly be back

One of the best

Just returned after spending a few days at Chatsworth. One of the best Club sites. Whilst some of the pitches are shaded by trees or walls the overall ambiance of the site is superb. Easy access into Chatsworth House and its extensive grounds. Pleasant walk into Baslow with excellent bus service - we had good day out in Bakewell on the bus. Would recommend Cafe on the Green in Baslow - dog friendly. All facilities well kept which on a busy site like this is all credit to the wardens.

Pleasant site, but warm seats

This is a pleasant site, if a little busy, and lively. I found the site had a rather crowded feel, even though the pitches are reasonably sized. There is a lack of WC's in the male toilets (5 for a site this size is inadequate for the morning rush). Do not arrive prior to 1pm unless you are good at reversing down a single track road. Lots of dogs, though vast majority were well behaved. Chatsworth is a real treasure, and as CC members you receive a good discount to House and Gardens ticket (£14 instead or £20). As you would expect, immaculate toilets and friendly wardens who do well to control the access to the site.
