Frustrating booking

Arrived just after 13.30.Some 7 vans waiting to book in. Only one person in reception with 3 on "traffic Management". Why as the leavers had gone at 12.00 and arrivals after 13.00.Tookover an hour to get to pitch. No need for details of Chatsworth offers etc. at that time, more people in the booking office. Surely arrivals priority is to get set up and have a cuppa after the driving. Apart from that site acceptable in every respect but showers will need updating soon to meet commercial standards. Plenty to do with direct access to Chatsworth Park.

Four Good Nights

Just had four good nights stay. It's only the 2nd site that we have stayed at as we are new to touring. We were not disappointed. Our pitch was a good size clean and well looked after. The loo's and shower's were very good and clean. The shop/reception was really good. You could get fresh bread / milk and papers there. It was really nice that you get a key to the back gate to get into the House grounds to the house or into the village. Went into Bakewell for the first time. Very nice place to explore. Lots of places to eat and get a coffee/tea. The only thing that we found on the site that was upsetting was the noise from the the birds but that can't be helped that's nature.

Bob and Ralph explore Chatsworth

Second visit to Chatsworth and again the site was lovely with well laid out pitches so that, even when full, each pitch has some private green space for sitting out and enjoying the peace and quiet. Also an excellent location for getting into some of Britain's finest scenery with walking, eating out and cultural treats just a short drive away. We can recommend the pub at Monsal Head for a dog friendly garden and excellent food with a variety of walks straight out of the car park. Ralph and Bob also enjoyed walking into Baslow and having a mooch round this very pretty village. It is a bonus for us having all dogs on a lead as Ralph, having had a very poor start in life and with a range of disabilities, is much happier when he is not approached by other dogs. People - he loves!  We were really sad to note the state of the gents' toilets and showers during the day. This MUST be down to members as the ladies' facilities were spotless at all times, even when busy. Surely it is not beyond everyone to leave the toilet or the shower as you would like to find it. There are loo brushes and a big squeegee for the showers - it's not rocket science - and it ISN'T the job of the wardens to clean up again after thoughtless people. The wardens did an excellent job with good cheer and efficiency - from managing the restricted room in the entrance, to keeping the site pristine and looking great. I'm left wondering just who it is who thinks that it's OK to leave a mess behind them for others to find.

Superb site

Our fist time at Chatsworth, but certainly not our last. Site is up to the usual excellent Caravan Club standard, very welcoming, helpful and friendly staff. Site is beautifully kept, superb toilet block, and nicely located just 15 mins pleasant walk to Chatsworth House. Local village Baslow has good pubs and restaurants, and, situated midway between Chesterfield and Buxton, there are plenty of places of interest nearby

Magical

Our favourite site for many reasons. On your way down the driveway you know you re not going to want to leave..Yes you may have to wait to book in if you arrive at 1pm but by golly it's worth it!The wardens are friendly, the site beautifully kept, including the shower block. After set up just go through the gate on to the Chatsworth estate and you know you re going to chill and relax away from life's pressures.Away from the site many beautiful little Derbyshire villages and of course Bakewell Buxton Chesterfield to name a few if you fancy the more established and of course the super countryside. You ll love it.

A great location

When we arrived we were given a 'magic key' to the wooden door in the old stone wall.  The key may not have been magic but it did provide access to the grounds of Chatsworth House and that is the main attraction with this site. Great wandering around early morning and in the evening when the park is quiet. It's also only a short walk to a couple of pretty villages and to the house itself. Discounted admission is available but we used a 2for1 'treasures houses' leaflet from a previous visit to Blenheim Palace that worked out cheaper. Back to the site and the facilities are of a high standard. Yes there are some noisy birds and trees but you are in the countryside. My only suggested improvement would be better signage. I went around the site a couple of times before I found the motorhome service point (probably just me!).

Top site

Now I see what the fuss is all about. A superb site, very helpful & friendly wardens. Best shower block I've seen. Full service pitch was excellent. Great location for the Big House, grounds and surrounding area. No issues with noisy kids (it was Bank Holiday weekend) or anything else.

Great location, and the rooks would agree!

Visited Chatsworth CC site on numerous occasions. It is a lovely site in a great location. Usual high standards of cleanliness and helpful wardens. However, this site is overshadowed (quite literally) by lots of very mature trees that make a serious mess of your outfit. In addition, if it is not the tree sap, it will certainly be the bird mess from the rooks that start their morning chorus at about 0430 every morning. You will certainly need a long brush, some serious cleaning products and ear plugs. Once upon a time, the rooks where localised to a small number of trees. However, the trees are now much larger all over the site, and unfortunately, the rook population and noise has significantly increased.
