Relaxing break

This well layed out site is ideally located for walking into Baslow or Chatsworth Park. The staff are friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend and will be going again.

Peace and quiet

Beautiful location with excellent amenities. Staff very friendly. Love coming to Chatsworth site; however the one thing that lets it down is the constant dog barking. There are also signs to say to keep dogs on leads in the Chatsworth grounds and this is often ignored.

If you like crows

Easy to get to if you remember to change post code Good location to explore Peak District. But we wouldn’t return because of the constant noise from the crows. It is loud and continuous during daylight hours. If you want some peace and quiet avoid and if you want a clean car and unit !! Apart from the pesty birds it is same high standard of cleanliness and facilities you would expect.

Beautiful location

Beautiful location, site well maintained and a great safe dog walking area. Had a lovely few days on our first visit to the site with friends. Overall the staff were extremely welcoming apart from 1 male warden who was grumpy on arrival because we arrived 5 minutes to early and was rude and abrupt when he came over to tell us to “keep our dogs quiet” when in fact it wasn’t ours making the noise which we did try and explain he had it wrong but he stormed away!! Apart from Mr Grump we had a great time and will definitely be back.

A Jewel of a site

You can't better this site for its situation. Walking out of your very own personal door into your own back garden - Chatsworth Park and your own summer house - Chatsworth House...is fantastic. Admittedly our stay last week coincided with some of the best Easter weather for years...but now and again Bank Holidays do deliver!

Weekend away

We have just got back from Chatsworth, we havent visited here since we 1st got our van, it was our 1st outing 5 years ago. So it was lovely to return, we arrived just after 1pm, when they say you arent allowed on site before 1pm they mean it. Unfortunately as a few of us all arrived together it started to block the road up outside the site, which caused a few horns to be tooted by angry motorists trying to get passed. Anyway, once the barrier is taken off the approach you are allowed down the road that leads to the site. The staff were amazingly efficient at processing everyone, which was great. The site is relatively small & some pitches are tight to get in to if you dont have a motor mover, which we dont! The site is pretty much standard CC, well maintained and clean. What I dont understand is the time the shower block is closed in the mornings. Mens close at 10-11 & womens 11-12. When Im on holiday I dont want to be clock watching and almost having to set an alarm to wake me up, so I can have a shower before the day starts. Maybe thats just me, but I cant think of a more inconvenient time to close them. The only other thing I think could improve is the dog wash. Without a doubt its a brilliant idea but how about a 2nd hook for people who own more than 1 dog, and why is the shower hose fastened down? Its very restrictive to reach all areas of your dog. Other than that, its an amazing place to spend time and the staff were very friendly. Baslow is worth a walk to & cant praise the Devonshire Arms enough, they are dog friendly & lovely food.

Nice but Expensive

Stayed here for three nights just before Easter but at £109 for just two adults on a standard pitch with awning is a little steep. Only one toilet block for 109 pitches is simply not enough. No discount now allowed for members at Chatsworth House so for a full admission to the house and gardens etc is almost £50! for the day. Would we come back here, quite simply no, it is not worth it.

First class venue

Spent 10 days at the site in April 2019 and thoroughly impressed by so much. Wardens excellent, facilities faultless and location stunning. The arrivals regieme is a little painful but understandable given the location and access to it. As ever numerous members take no notice of the warnings and begin queing with a tail back onto the main road. Only negative is the parents who fail to supervise their offspring in line with CC rules like at so many sites. This creates unwelcome noise and danger to motorists who face children speeding around on bikes with no regard for speed limit or one way systems. I fear for the poor motorist who is involved in a collision in such circumstances.

Enjoyable week

Just had a week and thoroughly enjoyed the stay, Great walks directly from the site. Just marked down the facilities slightly as during our stay the hot water was not so hot. It was reported to the wardens but took a couple of days to resolve. Had a meal at Il Lupo - excellent, well worth a visit.

Peaceful site in the heart of the Peak District

First visit to this site and on arrival we were very impressed with the way the staff had organised the influx of new arrivals. There was the potential for some problems due to the narrow entrance road but the staff had an excellent system in place and acted like 'a well oiled machine'. They were extremely efficient but were also friendly and helpful. The facilities were up to the usual high standard that we now expect from the Club. One of the obvious attractions to this site is its proximity to Chatsworth House. The House and the gardens are well worth a visit even though a visit can be quite an expensive experience. We are motorhomers who prefer to use public transport and a 15 minute walk to the village of Baslow gave us access to bus services to a variety of destinations. I do wish the Club would put more emphasis and more detail on the availability of public transport services near to their sites. We also feel the use of public transport should be encouraged particularly in the National Parks and near to major towns and cities.
