Stayed her for 2 nights in November. Site booked up but found pitch easily. Both saturday and sunday morning at 9am wardens out on the tractor emptying bins and leaf blowing. I'm sure there is no need for this so early on, especially on the sunday while trying to have a lie in something we never get at home.
Site always says full but whenever we visit always see empty pitches, unsure if people do cancel at last minute or if some pitches are held back?

We visited the site as a base to visit the Christmas markets at Chatsworth. We could only book one nights stay on the site. Whilst there was flooding and bad weather we had a great time. We appreciate the hard work of the wardens who had to cope with the site being full and the awful weather conditions. The site is great given its location and the close proximity to the house and grounds.

Excellent holiday
We had a most enjoyable 10 days at Chatsworth, it wasn’t the first time we had stayed there but I think it was the most enjoyable even though hit was October and the weather was changeable.
From the day of arrival we were met outside reception by a warden with a smile on his face and directions, the lady on reception was as cheerful and helpful also.
I can’t fault the wardens at all, very approachable and very helpful which is what you want on a club site.
Lots of lovely local walks and dog friendly pubs nearby and great cycling. Some people were complaining about the noisy wildlife nearby on an evening, yes you could hear them but you are on a site in the countryside what else would you expect? It wasn’t that bad at all.
First class site, first class location and first class staff, thank you until next time.
Holiday at Chatsworth
Hi
My wife and myself went to the Chatsworth Caravan Site for 5 days mid October. We also took our very excited Labrador, Jasper. Even though the weather was very damp and particularly we came after a period of very wet weather, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The staff was very polite, friendly and helpful. We took their advise and arrived about 2pm. We went straight through the dreaded lane and was the first in line to book in. We stayed on one of their super pitches which worked perfectly. The facilities were good and clean. Even though there was a dog walk on site it is not very big and not lit enough. There was a lot of dogs on this site an I believe the clubs rules to be very anti dog. The key through to Chatsworth is worth itself going to this site. Miles of walks, a restaurant, even a place to eat with your dogs and a picnic cafe. Whilst there we also went along the cycle track from Hasop into Bakewell which again seemed to be reasonably dog friendly. Lovely site well maintained and we will definitely return. Only other downside is that you need cash to pay for anything from the shop.
A Fab 10 Days
We enjoyed a fab holiday here the first 10 days of October, even though the weather was quite damp. After the chain & absence of a queue (must have been lucky) we had a really lovely & professional welcome. They asked if we'd visited before, didn't tell us to pitch correctly or they'd be after us - so nice. They asked which part of the site we particularly liked, checked & informed us there were a couple of pitches there - so nice & helpful. So we got to pitch exactly where we like & the warden gave us the key in advance so we didn't need to walk back in the rain - another lovely touch. The loo block was always sparkling clean & I love the fact that the Ladies don't close too early - great for a lazy morning & late breakfast. The loo block (extended since the site opened) is one of the nicest CC ones. It is quite spacious, with slightly larger loo & shower cubicles that most sites. Ten showers in the Ladies & I assume the same in the men's, so no queueing here! The pitches where we were are open & not under shade, with plenty of grass around them. However lots of the pitches are under huge trees and some pitches near the entrance are all gravel, no grass, set out exactly like a car park. The door into the Chatsworth Estate is like a door into a secret garden. When our children used to accompany us they loved this and the walks on the doorstep. There are many walks from the site through the parkland and beyond and we took advantage. It was rutting season and so we heard the Jurassic roars - great! Our kids used to love to walk in the ground in the dark, listening to those. It's a while since we'd visited, as all weekends are normally fully booked. Only downside - there's apolite notice in the loo blocks asking people not to go out of the site between 12:30 & 2:30. Well we went out in those times anyway & didn't have a problem as there are plenty of passing places on the drive. Indeed when we first visited the site, the year it opened, people & their vans could arrive at any time!! It was a May bank holiday when we went then & because everyone wasn't arriving at exactly 1pm there were no queues or problems!!
Sleepless nights part 2
'Peace and Quiet' should read 2 ticks, not 5. If this entry shows 5, not 2 then it's the system, not me.
Sleepless nights
A lovely site beautifully placed on the Chatsworth estate in an area where there is loads to do.
We have been there 3 times now and each visit has presented a challenge. The first one was marred by the rookery and the sheep - they both wake up early. That's fine as that's what you get in a wooded parkland area. The second visit presented a pitching challenge which could only be resolved by pushing the van into place. That's fine as well as I ought to cough up for a motor mover. Our 3rd visit was last weekend for 3 nights. All through the night our sleep was interrupted by a sound that was like a mix between a cattle market and Jurassic Park. Given that the Estate sells wild-boar burgers I googled the sound of such beasts and there was a similarity. So, does the Estate rear it's own boar? Are they close to the site (we were pitched on the House side of the site)? Either way, can't his Lordship find a spot away from the Club site as I'm sure he charges a hansome fee to the Club for use of the site? Of course, the noises might emanate from a Jurassic Park revival and that would be a fantastic new attraction and all would be forgiven :-)
Pleasant Autumn Break
Just returned home following a very pleasant week long break at Chatsworth. The weather could have been better but enjoyed the site and the surrounding area very much indeed. Facilities are excellent, as we have come to expect from the CAMC sites.
An observation regarding the comments already made by some members who do not like the queuing to get on site at 1pm. We arrived around 1.30pm and had to queue down the lane fairly near to the reception, being guided and advised by a member of the staff, so we thought that was acceptable.
If you've been to the York Rowntree Park Site, the arrival time is 12 noon, a similar situation to Chatsworth whereby the access road is virtually one way which is why departures and arrivals have set times to facilitate the process. At York, the wardens take your membership card on entry to the site and you are immediately requested to drive on and find a pitch, and return to the reception to book in and pay the bill later. This method results in speedy access to the site rather than each member having to book in first as happens at Chatsworth.
I would like to suggest that the York method be trialled at Chatsworth - I believe it would avoid much of the queuing down the lane at busy times and improve the situation greatly.
Always wonderful
We stayed for a week this time, the first time we have done more than a weekend.
Somehow we got our dates mixed up and arrived a day early to a full site! The very helpful team managed to put us on a pitch that they weren't using due to dodgy electrical bollard but in a motorhome that wasn't an issue for a night. Moved to our proper pitch the next day. Our little boy had a great time chasing duck etc despite the awful weather. His only issue was the lack of a swing in the play area but since there is one just down the lane it was no problem. Staff were great. It is difficult for them when everyone seems the need to arrive early or right on one o'clock. If you just wait an hour there are no queues.
It is difficult to like this site...
This was our second stay at Chatsworth. It enjoys a great location, but it is difficult to like the site. The chain across the entrance greets new visitors. You then join a queue of guests waiting to check in. The reception staff have very little opportunity to welcome members because of the numbers arriving at the same time. This could easily be avoided by installing the two minute traffic light system such as at the Bunree site. Access to the site would not then be an issue. I feel that if I arrived at a hotel to find a similar situation, I would drive on to a more welcoming competitor. The site is ok but is quite messy when the pitches are wet and covered in leaves. Small issues such as the Motorhome grey water drain is ill positioned making it almost impossible to drain into. I am sure that on a fine day with an event at Chatsworth House this would be a nice place to be. As it is, I am still struggling to find the positives to recommend Chatsworth Park, sorry.
