A good sized site enclosed within Chatsworth Estate. Very clean, tidy and well organised. Helpful and friendly staff. Plenty to do in the local area. Short easy walk to a few pubs that do good food and dog friendly. Will definitely return
Just got back from a lovely 2 night break at Chatsworth. Our first time here but certainly not our last. A very nice site, clean and well set out. The warden that we met, sorry didn't get his name, was very welcoming and helpful. The shower block was spotlessly clean, lovely and warm with plenty of showers, washbasins and toilets. The other facilities were just as clean. There were quite a few ducks to feed and a few pheasants on site and rooks which were the only thing that disturbed the peace but hey! this is the country so to be expected. The gate through to the Chatsworth estate was a bonus and the path to Baslow was a pleasant walk. All in all, a very enjoyable stay.
Visited in mid January. Blessed with cold, crisp weather, blue skies and sunshine, although, a cool 9C. Absolutely nothing to complain about. A choice of pleasant walks to the village of Baslow, with a selection of Pubs (with food). Miles and miles of walking in the grounds of Chatsworth Park, accessible direct from the site, via a private gate. Muddy in places, but, this is the countryside, in winter. Nothing that a pair of stout trainers could not handle.
just got back from our favourite site,as usual booking in is faultless and the staff are superb at getting things moving. and getting you to your pitch
all the facilities are great but are now showing that things are getting tired especially in the toilets ,
Chatsworth is a great place and there is so much do in the area and the village of Baslow is a nice place to wander to, BUT here is the criticism.
Can the caravan club please sort out the mess ,which is just outside the gate
surely by talking to the chatswoth estate management something can be done as with this being winter ,the path is a full mud bath and walking is a full boot scenario . with tip toes
there is hard core about ,so please can it be used
please dont be put off as this is still a great site
Stayed here for the second week of 2020.
Great location for walking without needing to go out in the car.
Deer and other wildlife in abundance around the Estate.
The new Coop store in Baslow is very handy and an easy walk of 15 mins. from the Site.
Plan your visit carefully because Chatsworth House is closed until early March (although restaurant and shops are still open), and several local, popular cafes are also closed at Edensor and Beeley.
Despite recent adverse weather, the Site was looking really good.
Shame on those moronic individuals that left the toilet facilities in such a disgraceful mess for others to follow, you do not deserve the privilege of Membership.
Complete respect to the Winter Wardens, Richard and Tracey and their colleagues for not allowing the few to spoil it of the many, they worked tirelessly to maintain the high standards associated with this Site.
Always a ‘go to Site’ for us at any time of year.
We arrived at the site in the dark after a long journey. There was a slight mixup with pitches as someone was parked in our allocated space. But he was a nice chap and we sorted it out together. However hooking up my mains power lead took me nearly 40 mins. I tried two leads checking trips and switches on the van and post but to no avail. It was only resolved when I knocked on my neighbours door for help. He said he had had the same problem as me when he arrived, not being able to connect mains but noticed a small label on the post instructing you to push the lead in then twist it until it connects. I had never come across this before. Is it a new thing?? But this is the point of my review. The instruction label on the hookup post Is located directly under the very bright post light so in the dark you can’t see the label telling you how to connect. Please Please can the office staff tell customers arriving after dark not to forget to twist??? It would have saved us so much trouble. Thank you P.S. we had a lovely stay and will come back. Andy
We arrived at Chatsworth site ready for an excellent weekend with a group of friends and this is what made our stay so good. Other owners were all lovely and we had lots of nice chats with people about dogs (of which there were plenty) etc.
The site facilities (toilet, showers laundry ) were extremely clean and lovely and warm which given the outside temperatures of minus 4 were very welcome.
There are numerous on site dog waste bins, a dog walk and a very needed dog wash which given the mud everywhere following the floods was a real bonus.
The staff were up early emptying bins and ensuring all the pipes were defrosted for us to use.
The site is in an excellent position for walkers, cyclists, those wanting to visit all the nice towns and villages around plus being Christmas time it was excellent for the Christmas Markets (free) and the house Christmas display (£25 per person for the grounds and house).
While we were there we had a 4 hour power cut which I understand happens. However, given the inconvenience and the temperatures there was NO apology from any site staff either written on the notice board or at reception.
Our hearts and thoughts go out to the couple whose motor home had a fire. The fire brigade dealt with this very well. However, once again the site staff let themselves down in not checking everyone else was OK and from acting as fire wardens ensuring the safety of everyone by keeping us informed and away from the fire.
The other disaster is the arrival and departure procedure which is awful. The approach road is narrow wit many bends and very few passing places. Under normal circumstances this would be fine but due to the amount of arrivals and departures there was a queue for several hours. We were told it only happened on Sundays but we witnessed it happening on each day between Thursday and Monday. It also meant that getting in out of the site between 11.00 and 14.30 is extremely restricted and means having to be patient and waiting in our case almost an hour to get pout of the site. This can be sorted by reorganising the arrivals system and asking people to pitch first then register and pay, rather than holding up proceedings by taking payment on arrival and then asking people to return to reception with their pitch number and being given a gate key at that point.
TV signals vary depending where you are on site from good to non-existent. It can be remedied by renting a co-axial cable from reception or having one of your own to plug into the sites aerial system.
We stayed here with friends for 3 nights in November 2019 in order to visit the Chatsworth Christmas Market. We had a fabulous time on this club site, due to the ease of visiting the Christmas Market, Chatsworth House and Gardens and taking a walk to Bakewell and getting the bus back ! The location is perfect.... 10/10. We will visit again next year !!
Stayed for the Chatsworth Christmas market amongst friends, what a brilliant weekend. Perfect location for the market you just walk straight out on to the estate and it's right in front of you. Free admission as well!! Lovely site second visit this year and not disappointed. Slight hiccup with my booking to begin with on arrival but thank you so much to the lady in the office who helped me out and sorted it. I didn't catch your name but thank you so much for what you did. See you again soon
