We have stayed at this site on a regular basis for the last few years and have always been impressed with the sites cleanliness. We stayed post Covid for a week, the site was busy and social distancing rules were in place for access to the shower block. I found that the toilet block was not always clean. On two occasions during the week I found one toilet blocked, no toilet roll in two of the cubicles. Also the third toilet cubicle had been opened as had the third shower cubicle. I assumed that one of the campers had done this to access some toilet roll or simply didn't want to wait their turn. Also someone had opened the third shower which rendered the social distancing rules useless .The shower blocks were cleaned in the morning but I didn't see any evidence of any further cleaning. If the showers and toilets are going to be partly closed they need to be checked and cleaned more regularly. The other parts of our stay were of the usual high standards, and this is a very convenient site for visiting Birmingham and the surrounding areas especially with the nearby public transport links..
Another enjoyable stay
We've stayed here quite a few times now, and it never fails to impress me how the site is so conveniently located for the major Midlands motorways but manages to make you feel you're in the countryside. The Club says "Chapel Lane Club Site is a rural gem that will take you by surprise" and they're absolutely right!
We were met with a really friendly welcome, always appreciated. Check in was made easy - despite Covid regulations. We pitched easily - the site is large, spacious and well set out with two facility blocks so plenty of capacity.
Covid instructions were clear and well set out. I used the shower block on several occasions during our two night stay and the toilets and shower cubicles were immaculately clean throughout. Two users in the block at any one time, and I felt very safe and secure once inside.
Having just endured a four night stay on a very noisy (Club) site where sleep was a challenge and caravans were jammed in everywhere, we enjoyed the spacious feeling here at at Chapel Lane and we slept like logs!
We visited our daughter in central Birmingham and were reminded how convenient the site is for the city. There's plenty to do within easy reach, but sitting peacefully in the sunshine with a tasty BBQ was a perfect end to this trip for us.
I'd recommend this site to anyone looking for a one night stop-over, or equally for a week to discover the area. It is a gem!

Weekend break
Have just returned from a weekend break here and have to say what a wonderful experience it was. I received a courtesy call on the day of arrival to check our arrival time at the site and give further instructions should we be late. Check in was a breeze with the warden coming out to us with the card machine and everything we needed for our stay, Didn't even have to get out of our vehicle. The pitches are a very generous size and very level. Cleaning of the facilities was constant throughout the day and to a very high standard even barrier passes were disinfected before being handed over. We stayed on pitch 27 right by the toilet block quite central on the site and it was very quiet and peaceful day and night. We have already booked to go back
Very welcoming
Have just enjoyed a five night stay here and would like to say how welcome I felt. Thank you to all the wardens, particularly Tina, who always had time for a quick chat which is great when you're a solo caravanner. And thanks to the other caravanners for following the Covid safe regulations set up by the site. I would not want to lose going away again and neither would they, I'm sure.
Short stay to visit the NEC
We only stayed one night to visit the camping, caravan and motorhome show at the NEC. All the staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful. The shower blocks were very clean. This site was very busy because of the show but it was very peaceful. Unfortunately we had terrible weather with very strong winds and rain all night but it didn't spoil our weekend. Will definately be returning here.
Weekend trip to Birmingham
This was a our first visit to Chapel Lane as we had wanted to go to the National Trust 'Back to Back' tour in Birmingham and also the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull. Just off the M42, this site I'm sure would suit people travelling either North or South as a stopover, as we stayed 2 nights and that was probably the max we would do here. The site is flat, however there was a lot of open space tarmac areas, which didn't make it feel particularly special or homely. To be fair, going in January meant there was very little greenery around to offset what could be mistaken as a car park, so we probably didn't see it at its best. The warden was very welcoming and helpful on our arrival, however she informed us that in one of the two toilet blocks the heating wasn't working. So, as you can imagine, most of the visitors pitched next to the one that was heated, as we indeed did. Facilities were OK and clean, if a little dated. 15m walk to Wythal Village Hall to catch bus into Birmingham that runs every hour. Nearest proper pub is approx. a 25m walk away. I would stay again if I had something specific organised in Birmingham or the NEC, but for anything else, not really
So helpful!
This was not a holiday. Our son was having surgery at the Orthopaedic Hospital 15-20 minutes away.
I booked and then called the site to explain the situation and they were incredibly helpful right from the start. They allowed us to add and subtract the number of people staying and cars parking, as family members came up from Cornwall.
Over a two week span extended our stay a few days at a time to fit in with the hospital and they also allowed us (it was December) to stay a few hours past the usual leave time and pulled out at 4pm when the hospital had discharged our son.
Lovely friendly people-Thank you, for making this part of out trip so simple and worry free. xx
Excellent stopover
This site is an excellent stopover and is surprisingly pleasant, however I do have a couple of major gripes.
A motorhome is probably in most cases the second most expensive item someone will buy, once you have it you want to take care of it to get the best value you can from your investment. Unfortunately when you take your expensive vehicle to Chapel Lane and select a hard standing pitch you are on a surface that is made up of tarmac and a covering of fine black grit that no matter how much care you take will end up inside your van and imbedded into your lovely carpets.
Not only is this annoying it will damage your carpets and make them dirty.
My second gripe is the lack of maintenance in the toilet blocks, little things like missing coat hooks in the cubicles, damaged tiles and an overall appearance of being in urgent need of a refurbishment.
Excellent site for visiting NEC and Birmingham
Well maintained site in very convenient location. There is a farm shop close to the site which also has a restaurant / cafe and a very quirky bar!
