Clean n tidy

We stayed for the second time at castleton which we really enjoyed because once there we didn't have to use the car again. The site is very clean n tidy &great location. The wardens are very pleasant. Rich & Jo

Great location not that great for younger children

We stayed at the site on the weekend of 27/8/15 - 31/8/15. The location is very nice and scenic. We found that although the site is highlighted for families, that there was infact little for children to do. There is a room with a pool table and table tennis table inside but nothing else, in terms of field or play park that children can just play and run around on. Facilites were very clean as is always on a club site. Don't think we would return due to too little for children to do on the site.

Poor wifi

An excellent site for walkers. However the wi fi was sporadic and on most occasions I could not connect or it was so slow as to be useless. It is not value for money and the club should be ashamed. Either it should make the wi fi usable or withdraw the provision. It did no credit for the warden to insist it was working and an engineer had recently checked every pitch. This was totally misleading. My advice is unless you need it do not pay for the wi fi at this site.

Pretty

The flowers around reception were very impressive, but the site itself is in need of a bit of an upgrade. It is listed in the handbook as luxury, think that needs reviewing. The wardens were very nice , but we found Castleton itself very busy and trying to get past people on narrow pavements hazardous, think we probably chose the wrong time to stay. This was the 10th and last site of our trip, not bad , but not our favourite.

Castleton

Just returned from a fabulous 9 day stay at Castleton club site. We have stayed here numerous times and always had a friendly welcome from the wardens. We had mostly great weather especially for walking which there are loads of new routes we explored. My only downfall I can find with the site is that it needs a little park:play area for the kids. It would only need a little park perhaps on the grass near the women's toilets. That's my only moan as the site is fab and looked gorgeous this year with all the flowers and plants around the office. We will be returning again.

Great Peak District location

Stayed for 9 nights.  Excellent caravan site.  Pitches all hardstaning and sized as per caravan club rules.  The hard standing gravel does leave some grey mud on your awnings though - not too much of an issue.   Toilet and showers very clean and never queued or suffered cold shower - in fact the water is very hot - be careful of scalding.  Games room was made us of by our kids - pool and table tennis.  Great location, just 10-15 mins walk from Castleton.   Also not far from Hope.  Lots of walking opportunities from site - suggest going to Edale.  Lots of places to eat and drink in the village.  Had good meals at the George and the old nags head.  Lovely friendly wardens who look after the site so well - reception area adorned with loads of flowers.   Wardens were very helpful in extending our stay - coming to let us know that they had received a cancellation so we could stay longer.  Definitely would use again and recommended.  Note that there's no playground for kids, but that didn't affect us.

Castleton

We have visited this site many times as it is our nearest club site. It always lives up to expectations and with the wonderful flower display this year it was better than ever !

Spectacular floral display!

One of my favourite sites, beautiful setting, near to village facilities, but totally private. I was blown away by the tubs and hanging baskets, so bright and lovely. Well done the wardens who swept fallen petals 2 or 3 times a day, and also watered them. The site is immaculate. Only one very minor problem: the hose on the chemical disposal near to pitch 48 needs to be longer, I struggled with it. I look forward to another visit soon.

August 2015

Lovely peaceful site - hanging basket made reception look beautiful. Wardens were friendly and helpful and they keep the site and amenities spotlessly clean and tidy. It is ideally placed for walking into Castleton. Will definitely return.
