Another great site

Been a number of times to Castleton, always clean and very well kept. Excellent small but convenient dog walk and site close to centre of village where there are many shops, cafe and pubs. Hope close by is a lovely village with a nice walk from site across fields etc. Many walks from site and the caverns in the area, all walkable from sight worth a visit. Give it go yo will not be disappointed.

An overnight stop

Pleasant site in a good location.  Busy so we had to park up close to the road - a bit noisy. Clean dog walk amongst some trees. Lots of dog friendly pubs nearby. Pleasant walk (but steep!) to Peveril Castle. Only pitches without awning when we booked but OK for 1 night.  Would come back again for a few days but only if awning pitch available.

CASTLETON CARAVAN CLUB SITE

I stayed on this site with my husband for the August bank holiday. I have stayed on this site many times and always have praise for the location cleanliness and staff but this time is something different; When we first approached the site I was amazed at the beauty of the reception area the flowers are beautiful and credit goes to the wardens for such a wonderful display. The work and time gone into these flowers is amazing. The site is excellent and the staff are wonderful and sometimes not appreciated as much as they should be so let me give them credit to the hard work that they do they all deserve a gold star WELL DONE CASTLETON SITE

Castleton - an amazing site

Travelled here for a three night break early September and the other reviews describe the site very well. The wardens are very friendly and helpful and are always busy around the site which is kept very clean and tidy. The flower baskets on the reception building and around the site create a very good impression. Excellent location for a quick walk (1/2 mile) into Castleton with its many public houses and Blue John jewellers. Good location for exploring the nearby Ladybower Reervoir and connecting dams and also for the Blue John mines and old lead mines. We were not able to visit these this time due to having our dog with us so a return trip is on the cards. The one negative - my wife complained that there was a fairly unpleasant smell from the shower drains in the ladies but the wardens were made aware of it so i would expect it would be dealt with in the usual professional manner! Mobile phone reception is good (on EE) for calls and text, limited internet but the site has wifi if you're needing a surfing fix! TV reception using caravan antenna was good - also manaed to spend a damp afternoon getting my mobile satellite system working - apologies if it looked a little like Jodrell Bank.

Great location not that great for younger children

We stayed at the site on the weekend of 27/8/15 - 31/8/15. The location is very nice and scenic. We found that although the site is highlighted for families, that there was infact little for children to do. There is a room with a pool table and table tennis table inside but nothing else, in terms of field or play park that children can just play and run around on. Facilites were very clean as is always on a club site. Don't think we would return due to too little for children to do on the site.

Poor wifi

An excellent site for walkers. However the wi fi was sporadic and on most occasions I could not connect or it was so slow as to be useless. It is not value for money and the club should be ashamed. Either it should make the wi fi usable or withdraw the provision. It did no credit for the warden to insist it was working and an engineer had recently checked every pitch. This was totally misleading. My advice is unless you need it do not pay for the wi fi at this site.

Pretty

The flowers around reception were very impressive, but the site itself is in need of a bit of an upgrade. It is listed in the handbook as luxury, think that needs reviewing. The wardens were very nice , but we found Castleton itself very busy and trying to get past people on narrow pavements hazardous, think we probably chose the wrong time to stay. This was the 10th and last site of our trip, not bad , but not our favourite.

Castleton

Just returned from a fabulous 9 day stay at Castleton club site. We have stayed here numerous times and always had a friendly welcome from the wardens. We had mostly great weather especially for walking which there are loads of new routes we explored. My only downfall I can find with the site is that it needs a little park:play area for the kids. It would only need a little park perhaps on the grass near the women's toilets. That's my only moan as the site is fab and looked gorgeous this year with all the flowers and plants around the office. We will be returning again.
