Will be back, soon!

Amazing site, fridnedly staff. We went for our first ever visit to the site with our two children during half term week and had an amazing time. We were lucky with the weather and got 4 long walks in from the site through Cave Dale (spectacular) and up around Mam Tor, finishing off each day with a swift ‘apres-walk’ in one of the pubs in Castleton at the end! On the rainy day(s) we went down the caves that are nearby. The food in the pubs is great both in the evening and early morning for breakfast, and it’s only a 5 minute walk away - site is in a perfect location. Will be heading back to this site as soon as possible!!

Definitely one to go back to.

Excellent site, helpful staff, beautiful location. We were up there in our 7m motorhome. We went to Bakewell to cycle on the Monsal Trail, which is very scenic and great fun. For this we parked during the day at the Bakewell showground (53.206551, -1.667798) which was perfect for motorhomes. We also found it east to park along Station Road by Hope railway station for a trip into Manchester for the day.

Will be returning again!!

We stayed here for 4 nights in the half term. Excellent site, facilities have been recently refurbished, very clean and heated!! The wardens were very helpful and applied common sense with rules. Excellent location to Castleton with the village only a 5-10 minute walk. No issues with dogs barking or walkers. Only couple of issues we found were kids riding there bikes around the site in the dark, and if you get the choice then choose a pitch away from the road side, we were pitch 8 and it can be slightly noisy at night especially if emergency vehicles are on call. We will defiantly be returning again next year, would recommend to anyone.

First time.....Not last time

Stayed for two nights in October. First time here to explore for future Derbyshire trips. Found the site easily, using handbook instructions. Choice of four pitches on this large site, with a "Full House" sign on the gate. Very popular. Pitches large, not separated, but, plenty of space, with trees and grass well kept. Facilities are central and very acceptable. Towns nearby, and walks, views, and attractions, give this site a great benefit. Overall......Excellent Only worry were the extent that some people are developing their site appliances and habits. De Humidifier (or similar) going almost full time Two Bar electric radiating heater on in a M/H (dangerous) Grey waste tap left open as a M/H left site (spreading along the site roads) Shouting between parties across site to gain attention, when other campers are relaxing

Our return trip to Castleton

Love the site for the convenience to the village which has plenty of cafes and pubs. The shower block is lovely and there is a nice drying room for all your wet walking gear. What we don’t like is that there are too many non awning pitches crammed in where there use to be awning pitches. Lots of the pitches you struggle to back into because of vehicles in the opposite pitches. Chatsworth House, farm shop and garden centre are worth a visit.

Poor initial greeting

We arrived early evening but were telephoned earlier to see if we required the LNA. Upon arrival at about 6.30pm, the welcome was very abrupt and not very welcoming. All other staff encountered during our stay were polite and very welcoming. The site itself was clean and well kept, as were the facilities

Outstanding site

This is without doubt the best and cleanest site I have stayed on.i arrived a bit late and the gentleman who greeted me could not have been more friendly and helpful.the toilets and shower block are kept clean to the highest standards and all the staff I met were very helpful. If I could rate this site and location higher than a 10 I would.6 bars within 10mins walk of site.walks.castle.caverns. I will defernately be back next year for a longer stay. Overall a great place to stay.

Fantastic Site & Area

This was our second trip to Castleton this year. It is a great site and very handy for exploring the local area, which has plenty to see and do.

Don’t arrive early or overnight !

Great place and position. Staff really good other than when we first arrived and met the male manager at about 08.30. We left kent early to avoid traffic so arrived at site about 08.30. We wanted to park in the late arrivals bay then walk into Castleton till check in. We were told we couldn’t use the designated bay which was marked as such. We were told to go and find a lay bye. When we asked where there was a lay bye we were told “ I don’t know”. So we had to drive around for some hours trying to park in odd places. This was a very disappointing initial welcome / start. If your not local and want to start early and intend to arrive before official check in time I suggest you ring and ask if you can use the ALLOCATED OVERNIGHT ARRIVALS BAY. at the moment it’s used for parking the lawnmower. Other than that both mr and mrs managers were friendly.
