Up there with the best!

A great site for a few days or a longer stay, there's plenty to see and do. A short flat walk to the village, 6 pubs to try and a variety of shops to make it interesting. Although surrounded by the peaks there are plenty of flat walks to do if you don't want anything too strenuous. Hope village, along the road has a railway station and a few different shops to try. Peak cavern in Castleton is well worth a visit, especially for children and the most accessible. The site itself fairly well spaced with all standard facilities, the showers however are the hottest, most powerful I've used on any site. Bakewell and Eyam are worth a trip out to as well the many other villages nearby. Try and avoid pitches best the road if possible as it can be noisy at times, just a small downside to a really good site.

Well located, clean and lovely staff.

This site is well located, close to the footpath that leads to Lose Hill and follows along to Mam Tor. Great for walking. Clean and well organised. Staff helpful and kind. Lots and lots of pubs in Castleton which is a vey small village.

Great place to go walking

This great site is only 10 minutes walk from Castleton with its shops, pubs and cafes. Also a good visitor centre. We were able to walk up Mam tor from site too. The wardens were especially helpful and kind

Lovely one night stay

We stayed here for a night just to visit family and give the van a stretch. We arrived on Sunday, quite early in the afternoon but still found ourselves to be one of the last of 55 arrivals that day. Despite the sheer number of people the wardens will have dealt with, they were very welcoming, took time to chat and thanked me for returning with the number of the pitch and to collect the fob. Such brilliant customer service is always appreciated and made the stay start off on a good note. The site is well kept, facility blocks beautifully clean. The location is cracking, a ten minute easy walk to the village. It you are there in the next few weeks, the Christmas tree festival in the church is well worth a visit. Lots of trees decorate the pews of a beautiful old church. It is free but donations welcome. Local groups decorate a tree and it was lovely to see the CAMC tree there decorated with sparkly red caravans and motorhomes. It demonstrates how integrated the club and members are to the life and revenue of a local community.

Returning visitors

We've been here a number of times and always enjoy our visit. As always, we received a warm welcome from the wardens who told us that help was on hand if we needed any assistance. The facilities block was as normal - clean and tidy. One reviewer has stated there were lots of leaves and twigs about - did this have anything to do with it being Autumn and strong winds I wonder. It's not like this in Spring / Summer, honestly. The village is just a short walk away with plenty of eating establishments to choose from. We were there mid-week which meant that the local "chippy" was closed, shame because he serves good food - but he knows his business better than anyone that was moaning about it. There were still plenty of places to eat. Then there are plenty of walks to enjoy or the Blue John mines to visit. Are we going again - of course we are, it's one of our must visit sites.

Few days away.

Don't be fooled by photo at top of page,Don't think I've ever seen so many leaves branches and twigs around a site. Handy for good local village and bus to Sheffield.on time both ways. Toliet block warm and plenty of room in showers with handy bench seat area, Would be better in spring or summer, but then it costs more .

fantastic site.

I would echo what other reviews have said about friendliness of staff, cleanliness and availability of great facilities. Only criticism was the poor lighting after dark. Other than that had a wonderful stay and would fully recommend this site
