Our first of the year

Our first trip out of the year in our motorhome and what a lovely site. Very friendly staff, Immaculate site with good facilities. We were very lucky with the weather as well considering this was January. Will definitely visit this site again, probably out of season as we could imagine this site will be very busy with walkers in high season. Very dog friendly also. Grumpy old disabled pensioner

Excellent experience.

Our first visit to a CAMC site and it was excellent. Beautifully clean and tidy. Quiet and tranquil with all necessary amenities. Staff were helpful and knowledgeable without being patronising. All in all, first class.

Our stay at New Year

We visited Castleton for the first time over New Year and the site was fantastic. From the friendly welcome to when we left when the warden popped out of the office to save us bring our pass back to the office. Very helpful! The facilities were exceptional and always clean. The Drying Room (although we had good weather) is a real bonus for walkers. The views and the walks are amazing and we can’t wait to return. As the previous reviewer said, when it’s busy definitely recommend booking the pubs in advance for meals as they were very busy. The food was superb everywhere we went! Thanks again to the Castleton team!

Christmas at Castleton 🌲💕

We have returned from our Christmas break at Castleton. We arrived on Saturday, 28th December and was welcomed by very pleasant wardens who were very helpful. As we have stayed many times they appreciated we knew the pitching up rules. We had a service pitch so that makes life so much easier and we do use our own facilities. However I can say that the facilities on site were very clean. We love being able to not get in the car again once we have pitched up and Castleton is great for this, if you are organised. There are basic food supplies in reception but not sure exactly what as we didn’t need anything. Lovely walks ... it’s Castleton need I say anymore!? All I would say is that if you are planning to eat out at any of the pubs/hotels in the busy holiday periods, book at table in advanced. They get extremely busy. We have a little dog and experienced some fireworks going off New Year’s Eve in the area, not the site. But where don’t you get this? Loved our stay and didn’t want to leave on New Year’s Day. Well done Castleton, we will be back 👌💕

Excellent site and staff

We have just returned from a weeks stay prior to Christmas. Luckily the weather was mainly dry for us so we did not need to use the drying room on this visit. The showers are always clean, and the wardens are very helpful. In the village the visitor centre/museum is an interesting place to while away a couple of hours, and the Blueberry cafe there is excellent and dog friendly. Also for those with (or without) their four legged friends, try Tillys Tea Rooms, Three Roofs and Rose Cottage as all allow dogs, as do all the pubs other than the Bull. We walked Cavedale and Mam Tor, but not on the same day this time. Its just a beautiful place to holiday.

Fantastic site and really friendly wardens

I've just got back from a weekend here and I have to say, this is definitely my new favourite place! The site itself is fantastic, the wardens are great and the facilities are spotless. Nice 10 minute walk into Castleton which is handy or 20 minute walk the other way into Hope. I will definitely be returning in the new year as one weekend isn't enough to explore Castleton and all the pubs!

Wonderful base to explore from

Spent a enjoyable five days here in November. Facilities couldn't be faulted. Everything you need and more - drying room and games room great. Wardens were excellent, friendly and always busy tending to the site. Castleton really good and the caverns are a must. Wonderful walks up to Treak Cliff and Mam Tor and plenty of places easily accessible if you want to travel further afield. On the 'visit again' list.

Friendly and helpful wardens

I stayed here at the end of October for two nights and I was a female solo traveller. I had not arrived by my check in time and it was getting dark. This was due to my satnav breaking suddenly on the journey and after passing the roundabout at Chappel en le Frith twice, I was beginning to get nervous. One of the wardens rang and directed me avoiding Winnats Pass again in the dark. On arrival they were extremely helpful. I did not plan to stay another night, however unexpectedly I needed to. The food I had left in my motorhome was basic, so the wardens asked if I would like an indian takeaway from Castleton, that they were planning to order. They ordered my food with theirs and rang through the order for me, then arranged the time for me to meet them at the office to collect it. Such a little thing for them to do, but they did not have to do it. Really felt they were looking out for me and as I was travelling solo, this meant alot. Great site, in a lovely location with great facilities. But a real five star service from the wardens

Very enjoyable stay but ...

Just had 4 wonderful nights at this very peaceful site. It is only a 10 minute walk to the charming little town of Castleton. Facilities on site were excellent and the usual standards of cleanliness were apparent at all times. The only grumble was that the arrival time had been changed to 1:00 and we and others were unaware of this! However, this is a lovely little site with excellent facilities and set amidst some outstanding scenery.

Perfect Site

When booking our trip to the Peak District, we asked lots of caravan club members for their recommendations.. Well we certainly found a gem at Castleton !! Fabulous team who are dedicated to looking after the members on their site.. very clean warm toilets, showers etc. Laundry room easy to use, but our absolute favourite room which isn’t mentioned ‘the drying room’ ! It’s amazing and such a fabulous idea! When you’ve been out walking and your clothes, coats walking boots are sodden it’s perfect for drying them out ready for the next day! Thank you for that ♥️ Very dog friendly 🐾🐾🐾💕 The six pubs just a short walk away are lovely and welcoming 🍻 Hmmmmmmm will we be back????? Hahaha oh yes we’ve already booked up for next October! Thank you so much, have a great winter and see you next year Lots of love Ali, Steve and Brie 🐾
