Best so Far!

This is a great site set in the heart of the Hope Valley. Quiet, lots of trees and with views out to the surrounding hills it is an ideal place to discover this part of the Peak District. The small town of Castleton is only a 10 min walk away and it has at least 5 pubs and various restaurants (including an excellent Italian restaurant called 1530). The facilities are excellent as we have come to expect from Club sites; the only downside is that there is just the one toilet/shower block so a bit of a walk if you are at the extremes of the site). Overall though, this is one of the best sites we have stayed at thanks to the proximity of walks and cycle routes and a picturesque town with great eating and drinking facilities...oh and the staff are, of course, friendly and helpful.

Fabulous site, but is the band-aid a fudge?

Our eight day stay was wonderful. Quiet site, well maintained, just fifteen minutes walk from Castleton. We had meals and drinks in several of the pubs. Fabulous walking area too. Lovely wardens. The band system works until all three are using the showers. I think the Club should close the block altogether, rather than this fudge - but then they'd have to reduce the prices. Also noticed they haven't passed on all of the VAT reduction. When I asked why, my email was ignored... Tut, tut

Mighty castleton

Just been to castleton club site, on arrival site manager greeted us both in his cheerful manner, he and his wife are probably the best site managers we have ever come across. He told us what to expect whilst on site and explained all procedures in place for COVID 19. We did loads of walks from site, your Mam Tor’s were busy you just have to look for the off beat tracks and paths, we did. The site was relaxing and peaceful we have already booked our next trips to castleton. Keep up the great work Castleton you are a credit to the club and somebody high up the club ladder should give you a pat on the back. Many thanks to both of you and your staff.

Recent visit

We have returned from this site recently. I understand that the covid 19 is new to everyone, but we feel that before we arrived we should have been made aware of the changes in place. Firstly we were not made aware until we checked in about the facilities rules. In theory the band system should work but unfortunately it wasn't, guests were made to queue unnecessary for a length of time because other guests did not remove their bands when leaving. This needs to be sorted. The rubbish bins are in a stupid place right in the carpark, none anywhere else on site which means a long walk from where we were pitched with each bit of rubbish. There was supposed to be extra cleaning regimes which didn't seem to happen. No hand sanitizer as you left the facilities only only on the fence as you went in. When we left this site we stayed on 2 tranquil sites, everything was spot on come on Caravan Club you have got a lot to learn

Reply from the Club Site:

Thank you for your feedback. The changes in place on site are fully detailed on the Club website and are highlighted when you make your booking. In addition everyone is given a 'Welcome Letter' on your arrival. This gives you all the information you need to enjoy your stay with us.

The band system for the shower/toilet block has been a great success. Yes, there is some wait time which is to be expected but our main aim is to keep our members and staff safe.

Our car park is currently closed. However our service points are busier than ever with people using their own outfits using water and disposing of chemical waste so we have moved the bins to one area. This aids social distancing at the service points. Once again this has been a great success and also enables the bins to be emptied and sanitised on a regular basis. Most members are bagging and tying their refuse and dropping it off on their way in or out of site.

There is soap and water in the toilet block when you enter and leave and there are five hand sanitising points in that area.

In addition to our deep clean of the toilet block there are several high touch point sanitising cleans throughout the day, every day.

We hope this addresses concerns.

Lockdown Release

We had trepidations about our first trip following lockdown, but the precautions put in place by the Club were good and over the course of the week we became more confident in being on site, visiting restaurants and cafes, and enjoying the area. The staff were, as always, pleasant, helpful and courteous. The Covid 19 precautions were generally simple but effective, although a big request to fellow members PLEASE REMEMBER YOUR BANDS! It can be vey frustrating to queue for facilities during peak times due to the precautions only to find there a fewer than the 3 people limit in the facility, but 3 bands hanging outside indicating they are full. This was probably our fourth visit to this site (always in July to coincide with our birthdays) and we have booked again later this year, and again for next year, as we love the area and the site.

One of our favourite sites

We have stayed here twice now and it's one of our favourite sites. Just a short walk from the lovely town of Castleton the site is friendly, clean and has everything you might want- even a herb garden to pick from. The pitches are nice and accessible and pretty level. Highly recommended as a base for exploring the Peak

Practically perfect!

The Castleton Club site is our favourite site in the country. It literally has everything a good site should have. The staff are great and so friendly and always around to help if you need them. The site is within easy (1/2 mile?) walking distance to Castleton village with its six or so great pubs, bakery and even a post office. Plus little cafes and shops selling mostly Blue John jewellery. The castle is worth a visit as are the various old mines. The only thing I'd change on the site are the times they close the facilities for cleaning. Presently this is between 10:30 and 11:30. Personally I think it should be changed to something like 14:30 to 15:30. That's just my opinion though and not something I'd mark the site down for.
