white peg reduction

I have been visiting this site for many years it is a lovely site and a great location for walkers being a caravanner who uses an awning I have been disappointed that the white peg pitches have been reduced and there are more blue pegs some of the larger pitches that was white are now blue limiting the choice of pitches for awning users this does not seem to be the case on other sites

WHAT 1PM ARRIVAL?

The rule at Castleton is arrive after 1pm. We took great effort to do just that and yet time and time again members were allowed on site from 12 and on at least one occasion even before12. It's a lovely site with hot showers (for a change). There's lots to do in the area, many just a short walk away. The wardens are helpful and friendly wardens but maybe that's where the problem lies. We were told about the 5 mph speed limit yet saw no attempt to control it. THERE IS NO POINT HAVING RULES IF YOU AREN'T GOING TO ENFORCE THEM,

Best site we have stayed on

This is a great site in a perfect location. Warm friendly greeting, great pitches that are easy to get in to. Good, clean facilities and all just a short walk from Castleton. We had a great time and have already booked to come back. Highly recommended

Great location

I've been visiting the Peaks for years and love Castleton so booked for 10 days. The area is excellent for walking and I was visiting the Chatsworth country fair so the location was perfect. The site was immaculate as I've come to expect of the C&MC and the staff were friendly and helpful. I was lucky to find a relatively large pitch and enjoyed a peaceful time - I couldn't hear the road as some others have commented on. My only disappointment was the dog area near my pitch (13). Notices said it was 'work in progress' but it was not secure and full of old branches etc. I suspect this is why I witnessed so many people walking their dogs around the site, something which understandably upsets non-dog owners when they use the grass verges. Notwithstanding my comments, I would happily return for another stay.

Excellent site

The staff are so welcoming and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Facilities are spotless and grounds well maintained. We will certainly be returning.

Great location for walks

We stayed for a week and enjoyed walking the local hills and Ladybower reservoir. Castleton is good for pubs and a bit of shopping. Only negative for us was the tree over the pitch. It dropped its kernels on the caravan roof all day and night, they were real noisy!!

Amazing site, but to noisey!

Just back today, clean tidy site, didn't use the facility's, perfect location for walks and the village, Lovely friendly hard working wardens and despite my next paragraph we will return, but at the top of the site. BUT, If you have children or just want a good nights sleep go somewhere else, and I know its not the clubs fault, but the Castleton - Hope road is like a racetrack! cars and motorbikes screaming along at all hours and at all speeds. Where are the police!! Couple that with the usual dogs constantly barking its one of the nosiest breaks we have had. We were on pitch 70, how the poor people sited at the road side slept a wink is a mystery.

One of the best

Stayed for 3 nights. Site was clean, staff were friendly and there was loads of room to park the 'van'. Even though in the middle of the summer school holidays, the site was quiet which was great as our dog isn't that 'friendly'! Being within walking distance of the lovely village where there were plenty of places to eat was a bonus. Definitely be back.
