Stayed here for three nights in August, but wish we'd booked for longer.
The site is on the outskirts of Castleton Village, five minutes walk from the neared pub and 10 from the farthest (of six!).
It's a small site but appears smaller due to partitioning by trees, by which it's surrounded. We were on a serviced pitch which, on this site, is a small separate area again. Our pitch was far from the road, so we weren't bothered at all by road noise.
We arrived in heinous weather and endured more during our stay, but the pitch shrugged it off easily. But once the rain cleared we were met with beautiful views of Lose Hill and Mam Tor (along which we had an excellent trek).
Facilities are as spotless as I've come to expect, and the village is superbly picturesque with most pubs dog-friendly. It also has the usual range of gift and tourist-tat shops, along with a lovely delicatessen/bakery which seems to sell everything one might want. On the opposite side of the valley from Mam Tor, the picturesque ruins of Peveril Castle overlook the village.
We were smitten by the area and by the site, and want to return as soon as holidays allow.
Beautiful site in a wonderful location
We enjoyed 3 nights wonderful nights on this beautiful Club site which is enthusiastically and passionately maintained by the wardens. All the facilities were 1st class and spotless throughout and the location is perfect for walking, running, local caves, castle and the lovely village of Castleton 10 mins walk away. We enjoyed the 6 Pubs and the local bakery which is a must when stopping either for your morning warm bread and paper or afternoon treats. While staying here we visited Sheffield on the bus which is at the site entrance, there was also a train station at Hope which is 1 1/2 miles away. The double Decker bus gave us great views of the local scenery and the skills of the driver as he negotiated the narrow lanes and streets. Will be back as there is so much to do from the site without getting in your vehicle.
Great stay
Another lovely stay at castleton second visit and will be back ,lovely cheerful staff ,excellent facilities and great location ,whats not to like .
Peak gem
We spent three nights here on what turned out to be the hottest days of the year. Usual CAMC spotless facilities, wonderful location for Peak District very close to Edale. Great setting surrounded by trees, lovely welcome, well maintained site with great herb garden.
Fortunately we found a shaded pitch but sadly the downside was that it was by the busy noisy main road. Short walk into town with all necessary facilities. Very helpful and friendly staff. If you want peace and quiet go to top side of site away from road.
Great Stay
Really lovely site, 5 mins walk from Castleton (with its 6 pubs!) and in sight of Mam Tor, Hollins Cross and the caves of Derbyshire. Site very clean and modern shower/toilet blocks. Helpful wardens. Site not too big - if you want lots of family facilities, club house, pools etc. then not for you but exactly as advertised. Will be going back.
Beautiful Castleton!
3 night stay on fully serviced pitch. Site immaculate as always due to efforts of friendly informative wardens. Met up with friends also staying on site and enjoyed the delights of Castleton close by for food and drink just a pleasant walk away and also trips to Hathersage and circular walk across the fields via footpaths to Hope with the dogs. Another great stay!
Lovely quiet site
Stayed on a fully serviced pitch for 3 nights in our motorhome, site was clean and tidy with nice views, wardens where friendly and informative, we walked to the local village of castleton took us 10 minutes lots of shops and plenty of pubs. The only thing to take notice of is the final approach do read your caravan club information as we followed our sat nav which has all the caravan club sites pre loaded and you think this would take you the best way but no! We went down winnets pass as did others a 20 degree slope all down hill for a couple of miles quite tight to say the least but got there safe and sound. A lovely site to visit and will return. Bakewell is also beautiful and is only 15 miles away.
Lovely stay lovely site great location
This is a really lovely site with very clean facilities and immaculately kept the staff work hard to keep up the exceptional standard. The area is great for walking straight from the site which is a bonus. The village of Castleton is a short walk approximately 10 mins away it has nice shops cafes and pubs all for eating. The shop has freshly baked bread cakes and pastries all lovely. I would recommend this site that much that we have rebooked.
Lovely site in great location
We stayed here for 3 nights recently & wished we had booked for longer. Lovely site, within walking distance of both Castleton & Hope. We have a motorhome & like to be able to walk to places so this was perfect for us. The motorhome didn't move from when we arrived to when we left, there was so much to do & see close by. We explored Castleton, such a pretty village, walked to Hope along the footpath & had coffee in a lovely courtyard cafe, & on our last day, walked from the footpath next to the site, up to Mam Tor. Fabulous views & worth doing but it reminded us that we are not getting any younger! There are lots of walks from the site & they sell a walks leaflet at reception for £1. We had the "Pick & Mix Sausage & Mash" at The Olde Nags Head in Castleton after our hike up Mam Tor. Highly recommended & dessert was equally delicious.
The wardens on site were very helpful & friendly and kept the site very clean & tidy, showers & toilets were spotless. We loved this site & will return for longer next time.

A gem of a site
We have just left this site after a two night stay which we really enjoyed.
The site is lovely and the facilities are clean and well looked after.
The wardens were really pleasant and we received a cheerful welcome. They were very informative, offering us advice on places to go, bus times etc which we really appreciated as were new to the area.
This site is within a few minutes walk of Castleton which is a picturesque village with 6 lovely pubs.
We would definitely return to this site .
