It was our first trip out since the lockdown in March and we were a little apprehensive and also under prepared, having just brought the motorhome out from storage, needless to say we forgot a few things 😁. On arrival we were met by Sue and Glen who were wonderful, they were so welcoming and helpful, they instantly made us feel relaxed and comfortable. They took the time to explain all the new processes and how things worked. We feel a lot more comfortable now using club sites again in the next few months. Thanks again Sue and Glen!
Well Situated Site For Peak Attractions
Very well situated Club Site just 5-10 mins walk to the Village. You can see why this site is so popular, being within the bowl of the Peaks.
Walking to Mam Tor via Hollings Cross and back via Cave Dale, possible straight from site.(We did this walk in reverse of all walking books instructions!)
Did the 4 Cave walk via Winnats Pass with amazing scenery.Excellent Pubs and Restaurants in Village especially the George with large garden all laid out nicely for the Covid rules ,having a pint watching the para sailers above Mam Tor,on a sunny warm September afternoon.
Stanage Edge and Burbidge Rocks another lovely walk, but had to drive the short distance there.
We have just left enough to do on another return visit.
First of many stays
First visit to Castleton & we really enjoyed it. It was very clean (as we have come to expect of club sites but still appreciate very much) Staff were friendly and efficient and the site is perfectly positioned for nearby Castleton & a range of things to see & do. Our dog Harry found the small but perfectly formed dog areas ideal for his early morning and late night loo trips. If we had any issues at all it is that we tried hard to get an awning pitch but to no avail. I wonder if it might be possible to re-arrange the lay out to allow for more awning pitches. However that small issue wont stop us returning as we LOVED it.

Another excellent stay
This is our third September break at Castleton. The site is perfectly located for the popular walks and if you venture off beat the walks are really quiet. Site and facilities are excellent. There is a Morrisons supermarket at Chapel-en-le-Firth about 6 miles away or local bread shop and Spar in Castleton.
A lovely site
My first venture in my new Motor Home. A super site, immaculate showers and toilets. Very well run and lovely friendly staff. Being a Newbie I was a little anxious but received lots of good advice from fellow campers. The local village just a short walk has some great pubs and some very good food. Also some great walks in the area. I will definitely return in the future. Well done Caravan Club and to your staff.
Great site
We spent 4 nights here recently and really enjoyed our stay. The site was spacious and quiet and the staff friendly and helpful. It is well situated for many interesting walks and a short walk away from the shops ,pubs and restaurants of Castleton. One of the best sites we have stayed at.
A really lovely and well-positioned site
Just back from 3 nights here in our motorhome. A well organised, well run site that is immaculately kept. All hardstanding, nicely spaced, two dog walks on the site, and friendly and helpful wardens. It's just a few minutes walk along the pavement into Castleton, where there are plenty of nice pubs, cafes and places to eat. We found they welcomed tourists and were well organised in respect of Covid. We highly recommend The George, which has a heated marquee in the garden that works well for eating on a chilly evening. The walking from the campsite is brilliant - we did the Lose Hill, Mam Tor ridge one day, and then the Limestone Trail past the castle, and round to Winnatts Pass the second day. No need to move the van at all! One of the best we've stayed at.
Nice stay at Castleton
My wife and I have just returned after a very pleasant 10 night stay at Castleton. We have stayed on this site several times, the attraction being it's location in the Hope Valley only about 10 minutes walk along a pavement into lovely Castleton with it's good choice of pubs & restaurants. There are a number of walks directly from the site, eg Mam Tor, Losehill, Win Hill, Edale; and there are very many more only a short car journey away. The facilities on-site, (toilets, showers, dish-washing) are of a good standard, although there is currently a restriction on the number of people allowed entry at any one time. This is controlled using the "rubber band" system, which is simple enough, and works quite well most of the time, but is let down when some Members fail to use their rubber band or fail to collect their band when leaving the facility. There was a short queue to get into the men's facility during the morning busy time, but not at other times. The site was quite full, and Castleton Village, and the Mam Tor walks were very busy, so no chance for any solitude in these hills! Other surrounding hills also seemed to be popular and busy. There is significant traffic noise during the day; the road seems to attract noisy speeding cars and motorcycles; but overnight the site was nice and quiet.
It is a very popular site with weekends booked up months ahead, but we hope to return next year.
Disappointing
Lovely site, close walk to visit the caves. But if you've got a family find another site as it's not family friendly as a lot of the other people staying there are older and don't want to see or hear children! Our family were made to feel uncomfortable by a lot of the other people as they didn't like to see our children talking to other children and at a safe distance and they moaned about them playing and making a bit of noise!!!!!

Lovely and peaceful sire
We visited here for the first time for a 4 night stay and it was just perfect. Very peaceful even though the site was full, excellent toilet and shower block which was kept spotlessly clean. We did a few good walks and ate in several of the lovely pubs in the village. We will definitely be visiting this site again.
