Relaxing car free break

Ok so we towed the van with the car! We took our son who said he iked it even though there were no other kids and no play area, we did inform himo f this beforehand and hence why we only stayed 3 nights. What a lovely site one way on only, you choose your pitch before towing your vechilce in as theres nowhere to turn around. This site is a real star of the the Clubs qiuiet sites. All we've come to expect from the club over the years we've been memebers Cherry hinton is a very small but well serviced little village, park, pubs, shops and bakery also library and drs surgery if needed, all only 5 minutes walk. There is a bigger Tesco with a small Costa cafe further up, yo pass it on the way in. Also within walking distance. This is a febulous site for walking and with the Chalk pits to explore so close by its a must do for those who love peace, quiet, and tranquility

Snowy Cambridge

We had one night here over the weekend on the way to a family event. The site itself is very peaceful but there was quite a bit of noise from outside. It didn't detract from the tranquil nature of this site which is set in an old quarry. The welcome was very warm and the pitch that we chose was flat so no need for levelling blocks. The facilities as always with club sites were warm and clean with plenty of hot water for showers and pot washing. The bus into Cambridge is a 10 minute walk away and takes around 25 minutes. If returning after dark then take a torch as the final short stretch on the road up to the site is not lit. We had a fantastic visit to Cambridge on the Friday afternoon. It snowed as we walked around looking at the amazing architecture. I can recommend the Rainbow Cafe set down a small alley opposite Kings. It was warm and cosy and served a great cup of tea and slice of cake. We went to Evensong at Kings Chapel which was lovely. The chapel was lit by candles and the choir was excellent. It begins at 5:30pm with access allowed from 5:15pm but the queue forms from 5pm and so worth arriving in good time. We had never really thought about spending a weekend in Cambridge but this short visit has made us book this site again for the summer months when we plan to spend more time looking around the colleges and the parks as well as some very tempting shops.

Wintery but nice

Normally, our first visit to a site in winter would only be for a couple of days but because Cherry Hinton is is so close to Cambridge, we opted for slightly longer and were not disappointed. We actually spent five nights here at the beginning of February in very cold but otherwise reasonable weather conditions. Its always good to arrive on a site with a cheerful and pleasant reception which was definitely the case at Cherry Hinton. The toilet block (always an important feature) was also so welcoming early on the cold and damp mornings with plenty of warmth, hot water and Radio 2. Perfect! Having a motorhome (once on site, it stays on site) and bus passes for the ageing community, we like to find a bus route not too far away. Here, there are two options, both within a few minutes walk from the site, both going to Cambridge City Centre and both running every ten minutes.Perfect! Our next visit to Cambridge Cherry Hinton site will probably be later in the year. In the meantime, it is to be recommended.

A great winters getaway

Booked on a two night break and had a really great time. The weather was much better than expected and was a great opportunity to visit the amazing city of Cambridge. Fantastic Colleges, great atmosphere and lovely places to eat. Even had a tour by punt which was great. Should be on everyone's bucket list. The site itself is excellent and up to the usual club high standards. Make sure you follow the club directions rather than the satnav for the last few miles and take care with the entrance. It's not bad as such but could be difficult if you meat a van coming the other way. Care on leaving the site (as others have mentioned) as you exit on a downhill bend and cars do tend to speed. Also try the Robin Hood pub which is only a 5-10 min walk. Has excellent ale and great reasonably priced food. Will definitely return and a big thank you to our Warden Sue and husband who were very helpful throughout

Bad exit

This is an excellent site that we use as often as possible, we have just returned from a few days to test out our new van before the winter really set in, the site was clean, the relief wardens very friendly, the entrance & tree was all festive with lights which really put you in the mood. Only downside to this site is the bad visability on exiting the site, the overgrown bushes need cutting back as the vehicles do come down the hill very fast, the immediate area has been cut back, I don't know if the rest is the responsibility of the club or the local authority but it would be much safer if it was cut back, probarbly needs local authority to do it as would be unsafe to expect the wardens to get out on that part of the highway, but it could well be an accident waiting to happen.

Not just a stop off from the North

Originally chose this site as it was a convenient overnighter from North Yorkshire to London and the South coast or channel ports. However, what a lovely site to stay longer and visit the city of Cambridge. Local buses very close by take you right into the pedestrianised centre with great bars and restaurants and, of course, the beautiful colleges and river Cam.  The wardens are some of the most friendly on the circuit and couldn't have been more helpful. We shall be back on our journey to Brighton for Christmas and will stay for a longer stay in Spring.

Overpriced

Site is up to the very high standardards of the club. Very handy for visiting Cambridge on the bus. The Robin Hood pub is a short walk away and when we visited served a good pint of beer on the pulls. Meals are also reasonably priced for a restuarant/pub type of establishment. However as with all club sites it is overpriced at £18.70 a night out of season.
