Very Warm Welcom

Easter break

We arrived on Good Friday and found only 2 awning pitches available. We chose the one lower in the quarry and found this quiet and peaceful, exactly what was required for this break. Although not a large site it is clean and tidy, wardens friendly and helpful. We found there was a lot to do in the area and visited Anglesey Abbey & Gardens (a very pleasant and enjoyable day out), we also went to the National Stud in Newmarket, we could also have gone to Wicken Fenn, Denny Abbey, Horseracing Museum and many others. Our time at Cherry Hinton did not allow us to venture into Cambridge so that and the others mentioned above are on the agenda for the next visit.

A super spring break!

When we arrived there was only one pitch left (5) and we were really pleased with its location, and how level etc it was. The site is in lots of little cul de sacs and, even though was full, felt uncrowded and showers were always available. We made use of the very good information hut and the site offive has a little selection of provisions e.g. milk. All of the wardens we encountered were very friendly and the site is kept very tidy and clean. We loved visiting 2 national trust and an english heritage property within only half an hours drive from the site. Iwm duxford is excellent if you like aeroplanes! Tesco isnt far and we found a Waitrose nearby too. We would definitely stay again if we were in the area.

Convenient but not friendly

On our way to the site we rang twice and despite the first call being in office hours, we got the answer machine both times and never had a call back. On arrival we were met by a very unfriendly member of staff ( who I think. Was on holiday cover) who said that they had heard my messages but no explanation why they hadn't called back. The site was clean and very convenient for the places we wanted to visit. Some pitches were small and very shaded. The number of signs around the site telling you what to do and not do, gave a quite unfriendly atmosphere. I would describe it as a convenient unfriendly site

Lovely stay - Excellent site

This is a very well positioned site for visiting Cambridge and the surrounding area. It is pretty quiet given it's location near a main road. The facilities are clean and tidy and well maintained. There are excellent bus services a 5 minute walk away that run until late in the evening and every 10 minutes. We were only on site for 2 nights but def worth another visit in the future.

Good location

We had 3 nights here from 3rd April. It is very convenient for buses into Cambridge though you have to gamble a bit on whether the Citi 1 will be the first to cross the junction up Queen Edith's Way or there Citi3 down Cherry Hinton Road - they are separate bus stops on different roads. Would tend to opt for the Citi3 both in and out of the city centre. It is not far to Wicken Fen (NT place). We parked the car outside the barriers one night so as not to disturb neighbours and made a very early visit to the fen to see the dawn and hear the morning chorus; very good. Also close by is Anglesey Abbey (another NT place) and that is well worth a visit. Beautiful gardens in spring and working Lode flour mill. The toilets and showers were very good and the pitches were fine though there are no serviced pitches here. Also TV reception is very hit and miss depending on your pitch and we found the TV distribution on the electricity bollard to be unreliable breaking up badly at times. Satellite is probably best but once again, depends on pitch as there are some high cliffs and trees overshadowing some pitches which could block line-of-sight to the satellite.

Friendly. but.....

Arrived early as only travelling a short distance from a site that we had to leave at 11am. Had checked if OK and informed would have to queue at gate if early. No objection to that. However, we failed to notice the new arrival sign and parked up on the entrance We realised our error and was about to move in case of incoming cars, ( of which there were none) when the warden appeared. We apologised but were nonetheless forced to reverse the van when the warden could have quite simply opened the 'wrong' barrier and let us through, He was over officious and if we didn't know better, we would have found the image of Caravan Club Sites quite intimidating. We do not break rules, we merely made a mistake. The site itself is in a good location but not very inviting to linger on.

Suits Us

Have stayed here before as its handy for visiting our daughters family . As its located in an old limestone quarry the steep sides do make some of the pitches shaded from the sun[when its out !] Having said that it is a very quiet site and brilliantly run by the wardens. We found cycling into Cambridge centre a bit hairy ,despite the designated lanes to the roads .We will use the bus next time. The fact that it opens all year is another plus for us ,so we will definitely return again Amber

Convenient for Cambridge

Stayed for 3 nights in March. Easy to find. Narrow roads on site leading in different directions as geography of site breaks it up into different levels. Motorhomers be careful of choosing first exit on left if you want to use MSP later. Satellite TV users - quarry face blocks out signals in places but tv point on stands. Avoid parking near sports area on right as sports and floodlighting continue until 2200. Very easy walk into town. Slight longer to Tesco Superstore. Bus stops only a few minutes away. Good site.

Relaxing Family Weekend

We received a very friendly welcome from the warden on arrival, accommodating our arrival a day earlier than planned. As we were meeting family with another motorhome they did their best to try and make sure we were together. Once settled we were visited to make sure everything was okay and we were happy with our pitch. I must complement the site wardens on the toilets and showers which were immaculate, as was the whole of the site. Easy bus into Cambridge from the site. Thanks for a lovely stay and will definitely be returning in the future.
