Our 2nd visit to Cherry Hinton in 3 years good to see the same friendly wardens. Cherry Hinton is a great little village with good pubs/Indian Restaurant/supermarket. Fab bus/cycle routes. We use it for Newmarket races. Some say there is road noise but we found it very quiet over the August BH and great weather. Will visit again....
We attended the Cambridge Folk Festival 2017 and it's a perfect site for peace/quiet and chilling out. The facilities under the management of Julia and Alan are immaculate. Extremely helpful wardens and always meet and greet with a smile. Excellent local pubs near by. Highly recommend the Red Lion in Cherry Hinton Village. Will definitely go back.
Site is in a great location just a couple of miles away from Cambridge accessible by one of 2 bus routes. Helpful wardens providing useful information on check in. Great facilities as you would expect from a club site. We had pitch 7 down a steep slope that was in the shade but didn't bother us. We discovered the best Indian restaurant we have ever tried at the bottom of Cherry Hinton road - the Taj Tandoori. It must be good as it was almost full on a Monday evening! Really enjoyed visiting Cambridge again. We would defintely recommend this site for visiting Cambridge and the surrounding area. We will be back someday.
Stayed here 4 nights, with no major issues. Usual great welcome, usual great facilities, coupled with a great location for getting into Cambridge via the reliable bus service close by. My only issue was that, of the 5 pitches left for us to choose from, none had much in the way of sun. I realise it's pot luck, and you get to choose from what's available but our pitch (7 I think) had very little in the way of direct sunshine. Not that much of an issue if your heading into Cambridge but sometimes its just nice to chill in the sun by the van and soak up some rays. Admittedly, the site is in quarry, but a walk around the park showed a lot of pitches with sunshine the majority of the day, alas, not ours. Having said that, it's still a great site and it ticks all the usual boxes for a great Caravan & Motorhome club site.
We stayed on this site for 2weeks,as my wife was going to Addenbrooks for major surgery, and we did,nt know how long she would be in hospital,as it turned out operation was cancelled for aweek ,went back to site to see if we could stay longer,The wardens were brilliant told us we will work round what ever you want. That was the best news for us.So we stayed a extra week.Wife had operation & is home recovering,Now the Site, one of the best we have stayed on the site is very clean shower/toilet block excellently cleaned each day, pitches are good, excellent place to stay & visited Cambridge,Grantchester & lots more, will go back.Last thing our many thanks to the site Wardens for all of their help.5*WARDENS.
A 1 pm start at this site, small busy road outside and tight entry.
A very friendly reception team, a bit different to other sites as you walk around give reception your pitch number then take your unit to where you have decided.
The facilities are very good, showers better than normal hot and powerful.
The pitches are a mixture, large and small, in the sun and very much in the shade. I feel as if some trees could do to be cut back to let the sun through..we have been twice, our first time in the sun really lovely, this time in the shade, dark and dismal quite depressing ...in the morning bright sun 18 degrees we had lights on and the heating!! But beautiful if you was in the sun.
I know it's pot luck but we won't be back.
The park and ride ...turn right out of the site about 5 mins, a pound to park all day, and maybe your free bus pass.
Good for visiting Cambridge and the Duxford war museum.
We arrived ten minutes after the closing time to find the staff had waited for us, this was a lovely surprise as it saved us staying in the late arrivals pitch. We were given our pitch, the last one as the site was full, obviously it wasn't the best, but we were allowed to choose another one the following morning as people left. The staff were so kind and helpful with everything, the warden even running after us when we inadvertently drove off with a dog lead attached to the back of the Motorhome! The site was full of wildlife, we saw lovely birds, the robin family and their babies came really close to us for mealworms. The site is of special scientific interest and there was an abundance of wildflowers.
The showers were clean and well maintained, the adapted shower was roomy and very easy to manage.
The wardens do deserve a special mention, friendly kind and helpful.
We will be returning.
Our first visit to this site from 4th - 7th June. The public road ouside the site is narrow and busy morning and evenings with fast traffic. Access into the site is a little tight and you appreciate why there is a strict earliest arrival time of 1:00pm applied. The thing we didn't realise is that due to the nature of the site it is not possible to drive around but you have to book in and then walk around to select a pitch. Being a former quarry the pitches are grouped in cul de sacs, i.e. One road in and out to each area. That said, most appeared level and well drained. Some were of a good size, others a bit tight. There are a good number of tall slender trees precariously anchored in and on the chalk cliffs and we admit to being a little concerned during the wet and gusty weather that we encountered. The staff were great, the facilities up to the normal standard and everything was neat and tidy. This is an odd site and must be a bit of a headache for the wardens what with it being busy and and having restricted roadways. On the opposite side of the public road are two nature reserves in which to walk. One is open and the other wooded. A short drive from the site is one of the five park & ride locations for Cambridge and cost us £1 to park the car and £3 each (dog travelled free) on the bus into central Cambridge for the day. We booked this to attend an event at the Imperial War Museum at Duxford which was then cancelled due to the poor weather but will have no hesitation in returning when we need to.
Had a two nite stay, this was our first visit to a club site. the wardens were very friendly, greeted witha smile and good advice. made friend with three familys that were near to us and that night had drinks out side chatting till late.
In all we found this site to be friendly clean the shower block was spotless, good for familys. also very easy to get the bus into Cambridge.
Our second visit to Cherry Hinton. Its a lovely site ideally situated for Cambridge and surrounding areas. Cambridge City is a short bus trip away and the bus stop a short walk from the site.
The site is usually quite busy so pitch choice is limited but they are all good.
The site is immaculate as are the facilities.
TV and internet service is good.
The wardens are lovely and very friendly.
If you have a dog, there are walks nearby and the park is a short stroll away.
Highly recommended, we will back soon.
