People laugh at us when we say we are going caravanning to Bury (I think it is because we only live a few miles away and people have the misconception that you need to drive for miles to find somewhere nice). However this site is far removed from the hustle and bustle of the town which in reality is only a few hundred meters away. The site facilities are of the usual high standards we have all come to expect from the caravan club, we loved the "help yourself" herb garden provided by the wardens which shows the lengths the wardens go to provide over and above what is the norm. The country park provides loads of open space to do whatever it is you like to do in an open space but includes walking, running, orienteering, canoeing, climbing, cycling, geocaching, wildlife watching, trim trail to name but a few all of which are well catered for on the doorstep. oh and a great pub too! Public transport links are a couple of hundred yards from the site entrance and from Bury you can get to Manchester City Centre on The Metrolink (tram) in less than half an hour. We call this the Meerkat site as every hour or so almost every caravan or motorhome door flies open or people get up out of their chairs and peer (meerkat like) in the direction of the railway line as one of the classic steam trains puffs by with children (and some adults too) waving furiously from the train as it passes. I cant think of anything negative to say about this site it seems to cater for almost everyones taste. Childrens activity days can be arranged at the adjacent outdoor activity centre and judging from the squeals of delight coming from the canoe pond when we were there they seem to have a great time.
