A Hidden Gem!

We booked this site blind and were a bit concerned about its location, but what a surprise when we arrived! Beautifully laid out site, perfect pitches and extremely friendly staff. The facilities were perfect with a perfectly clean and warm shower block. Its close proximity to Bury Town centre meant that we were able to walk there in about 25 mins and spend time (and money!) at the Market and ride the delightful East Lancashire Heritage Railway. We will definitely return later in the year with our bikes as there are plenty of routes to explore. There is also a Bus stop just outside the site offering a convenient service into Town. The Pub adjacent to the Site was also a charming and convenient place to visit. We would thoroughly recommend this Site for a very comfortable and convenient place to stay whilst en-route or just to chill out for a break without having to travel a great distance if you are in the North West area.

Nice!

Nice site, excellent washroom facilities. It rained a lot when we were there and our pitch flooded but I don't know if there was anything that could have prevented that. Country park next door is nice and a pub with good food a 2 minute walk away. Overall would come back hopefully to a dryer stay!

Easter Break.

Found the site under new Wardens who are EXCELLENT, they were so helpful this year, kept the site quiet and under control, which we have not had previously. Still needs more washing machines please, so that one does not have to wait hours while on holiday to wash the family clothes. Also more service pitches please. Any hope of the slope up to the caravan site being improved??? pretty rough on expensive outfits. Thank you.

Good pubs nearby with good food

A very nice site. There are steam trains running along the side of the site, it would be nice if you could get on one of the trains at the site instead of having to go into Bury town Centre, ( about 2-3 miles walking, There was not anywhere to buy a morning paper on site, but we are told that the wardens are going to get a contract set up with a newsagent to bring them to the site. all in all very nice site. Good food in the 2 pubs near buy and nice walks around are interesting as well.

Great Little Site

Our first visit to this site we had a warm welcome from the on site wardens.  Great location close to Bury town centre.  Good pub on site with good food. Lovely walks along the river into Ramsbottom.  Will definitely visit again.

SERVICED PITCH

We had a very warm welcome from the on duty warden who was very helpful. Our only concern was that the pitch we were on-No4-was muddy due to there being lack of chippings. It badly needed resurfacing, otherwise a lovely site which we have visited many times.

A great site in North Manchester

This is the closest main site to our home in Huddersfield, and we decided to go for a 2 night stay to try out our new awning. We'd been twice before and always enjoyed it thoroughly. The site is the usual high caravan club standard, with the East Lancs Heritage Railway running by the site with many steam engines all day Saturday and Sunday. I understand that the Club has bought an adjoining field onto which will go some more pitches and a special platform for the railway! Reason to visit again! The site is superb. Burrs Country Park is excellent, and the pubs good. What else would a discerning caravanner / steam fan want?! Bury itself is an ok sort of town to visit - the usual mix of smart shopping Centre (The Rock), a fantastic market (Bury Market) but more than it's fair share of run down properties, pound shops and charity shops. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice enough place with excellent tram connections into Manchester City Centre, but on it's own not a reason to visit imho. The River Irwell runs through the town and flooded quite badly after Christmas. The walking route from the site to the town is a bit grim, with the litter, debris and mud left by the floods contributing to a bit of a depressed area. I'd recommend you visit this site and make your own minds up. If your preference is to stay on site and chill, then it'll be great. If you're expecting a scenic stroll into town (as you do from Rowntree Park into York) then you're in for a disappointment. Wardens pleasant, helpful and friendly
