Born & bred in Manchester, the thought of a weekend in Bury doesn't sound enticing. How wrong I was, this is without doubt my favourite club site. As you drive through a housing estate you think "what have I done", then the road becomes cobbled & you pass the entrance to the country park, round a small bend & a beautiful site & sight is in front of you. The warden on the desk, Linda, was absolutely lovely, helpful, chatty and a credit to The Caravan Club. We pitched facing the East Lancs railway, within minutes a train passes, the passengers wave to you, you wave back, lovely. We sat in the sun, two ducks joined us for half an hour, a bit later a dozen rabbits come out to play on the grass, absolute bliss. The site is spotless, the wardens work very hard to keep it that way. Little touches like the herb garden are great.
If any of you out there are thinking "why would I want to go to Bury" all I can say is I thought that and I was very wrong. If you've never been here, GO, you won't regret it.
Sunday leaving
Love this site, visit often, and love spending hubbys money in the famous market.
Disappointed in the caravan club for information. We booked on line and therefore did not have a conversation with the wardens. It would have been nice to have an email to inform us that the Bury Show would be taking place on the fields next to the site. There were notices on site suggesting that those leaving on the Sunday should do so as early as possible due to show traffic. There were quite a few vans (chatted to people in wash up etc. ) that like us got up early, had no breakfast, and packed up to get away early. Now I go away at weekend to relax not to have to run around like a headless chicken, and it is quite obvious that we are only there for the weekend as were the others I spoke to. Why can the club not send a nice email explaining what is happening when they get a booking that says leaving on that day, we could have swopped with another site . When I handed the key in the warden said " oh they are still queuing to get into the grounds you may struggle to get off. " Then why ask us to leave early?! We did have a very close encounter with a horse box on the single file bit of road but due to good driving were both ok. Where were the stewards to see us through this area, not a single person around, the club need to speak to the organisers about this . It was a good job we wanted to be up early as the generators started at 06.30, excellent alarm call .
Had me moan feel better now.

A credit to the club
Stayed here for just over a week and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff are extrmely friendly and helpful. Walks in surrounding areas are excellent. The only downside i would say is the amount of underage drinkers in and around the country park itsel when the weather is good. Police do visit the park but that is literally all they do. Turn up in a big van. Sit in the car park for five minutes and then go again. This is by no means any reflection on the club sote which i cannot praise enough. There are 2 pubs locally. The Brown Cow is excelent value for both food and drink and literally a stones throw from the site. The Garsdale which is a little further down the road is in my opinion over priced and also dont allow dogs in the bar which is ridiculous in an area like this. Bury is about a half hour walk away. Will definately be returning here.
A lovely site, spoiled by the poor showers!
We really enjoyed our stay at Burrs Country Park. It location was perfect for our needs, the views excellent and the wardens friendly and helpful. But we were very surprised by poor showers. Indeed I would go as far as to say that they were the worst we have come across on any CC site. In all but one cubicle, which was fitted with a adjustable-head shower, the water pressure was so poor that water just ran down the wall. This was the main topic of conversation in the wash-up room and came up whenever one chatted to other members. Whilst we mentioned this to the wardens, it was obviously an on-going problem which featured regularly in the comments book. I hope it will be sorted out as we want to come back again. If it can't be then CC should consider mentioning it in the description of the site.
very pleasantly surprised
Lovely spotless site. Staff very friendly and helpful. The country park walks are beautiful and well looked after. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be using the site again.
Enjoyable stay, but not great for families
Our initial reaction to the site at Burrs country park was very good, the site was clean, the wardens very friendly and the steam trains were a delight to see. Unfortunately, this was short lived as my children were soon told ball games weren't allowed on the site and anyone with children will know this is disappointing. Also, I was complained at by another camper for simply "walking on the grass". There was certainly a feeling on this site that children should be NOT seen and NOT heard. Unless I go without my children, I won't be returning to this site.
what a surprise
We booked here as we couldn't get into our first choice as it was bank holiday weekend. The last 500 yards of your journey to the site make you wonder where you are going but once on the park it's a cracking surprise, facilities are caravan club clean and the country park next door is a great asset to the site. The wardens are AMAZING my daughter and I arrived alone and my reversing isn't the best, but the help we got was great and made the difficult a lot easier. Anyway a great site, great weather and the steam train is a bonus to watch!!!
Away from it all
Live 20 mins. Away from this amazing site, I could be anywhere in the Yorkshire dales ect. It's stunning location, very friendly wardens, spotless facilities, central for many outings, what more could you wish for... A steam train passing the site on a regular basis...well you've got that too. Fabulous

peaceful break
We arrived Friday 27th May for the bank holiday weekend expecting it to be fully booked and noisy. Almost full but still really peaceful. Good clean facilities, friendly wardens, friendly people, lots of dogs but no barking, rabbits, ducks, and the brilliant steam trains. We switched off completely. Not slept so well in years! Due to health issues we were giving up the motorhome and this was our final trip but now are reconsidering and will hopefully be back soon. Less than an hour from home but really a great place to be.
