Gothic Glory

While you are at Burrs Site  have a run over to Rochdale, just a short drive away. The 1860s Town Hall is well worth a visit, with guided tours on offer (need to book). Have visited this site often and always enjoy it.   Recently extended with additional pitches. Thanks again to The Warden Team for a clean and tidy site.

great site

We have been to this site numerous times and even though we are fairly local to the area, I still enjoy coming here. The wardens and staff have always been friendly and helpful, the facilities are excellent, pitches are a good size and the site well maintained. Yes the access to the site is a little bumpy but, take it easy and it's not a problem. There are great little walks around the area, which take in the activities that go on ie. canoeing etc. or you can sit and watch the steam trains go past weather permitting of course, which are regular at weekends, and there's always Bury Market which for those who have never been is an extremely good place to visit. The little pub at the entrance is very welcoming and does great food at reasonable prices, even catered for a member of our group who has wheat intolerance. All in all would I recommend - most definately, and will carry on going back.

Recent Stay.

Agree with previous review about the road, awful !! don't think the cobbles add anything to the site.Approach road needs weeds clearing so you can the signs.a few lights would help.Good job buses have changed again so you can get back from Bury 4.25 or 5.35 otherwise it wouldn't be worth going.Shops and market worth a visit.Toilet block good with nice hot water.Easier to get out of area than arrive, lots other places worth a second visit not sure about here.

Nice surprise!

Having driven through a very busy Bury town centre. down a pot-holed road, over hundreds of cobbles I wondered what I had let myself in for! However what a lovely surprise, this site is very nice, set in a pleasant country park, the pitches are large and well spaced out and the toilet facilities were kept spotless during our stay, with the bonus of steam trains passing the site and a friendly pub outside the entrance this site is a little gem, We visited Bury market, the trafford centre and and a nearby National trust property during our stay as well as spending the day at the East Lancashire railway. There is no play area on site but with the site being next to the country park there is plenty of activities for the children to enjoy.

Good site good view of the railway and steam trains. clean facilities ad friendly wardens. The only down side was the very muddy hard standing pitch ours was in need of some more gravel.

disappointed !!!

by the caravan club for putting on Facebook that a railway station has been set up here ,altered my plans for last week to go there for a few nights thinking great I can get a train into Bury so was gutted to be told it's not actually in use as yet ,so misleading information by the club so all the bookings I have in Nov and Dec I have cancelled I know you can get the bus into town but last bus is at 14.00 or at least that's what the timetable on the bus stop says ,you can walk into town but as it takes 10 mins to get out of the park and onto the road then it's another 30 mins this makes it along walk not one to be done on a wet day being single means a taxi is not cheap i wanted to go there Christmas eve but can't now just in case it's a wet day thus making it difficult to walk into town ,but had a nice few days there met some lovely people in the Brown Cow !!

Good site

Not the best area but Good sites  wi-Fi drops in and out all the time seems to be a lot of rules and regulations on the site but overall the local area where the site is situated is beautiful and the site is lovely and clean and friendly

Return visit

We are originally from this area so it's lovely to have this site conveniently situated for the town and countryside. We were there in January for the flying Scotsman train journey and since then they have made an excellent route up to the side of the line with a station due to open January 2017. The site is beautifully kept and the facilities are excellent. My husband needs to use the disabled facility, lovely and warm with everything operational which is not always the case, therefore WELL DONE to all staff that make our stay perfect. We will return!!!

Flying Scotsman again

Yet another visit to enjoy the East Lancs Railway. Staff extremely friendly and updated us on proposed site extension.  Facilities immaculate as usual. We managed to arrive early enough for a pitch with a fantastic line side view of the railway. Bury market always worth a visit, just a mile away partly by riverside footpath. Several walks around including footpath to Summerseat and dog friendly garden Centre.  Good pub within metres, also dog friendly.  We shall be back next year.
