First outing of this year

Had a really enjoyable weekend, with both sun and lots of rain. The site was quiet and is very well maintained, with a spotless toilet block. It's good to be so close to the country park and the waterway for walks for our dog, and to watch the steam train going by is fun. The pub is so convenient for good food and a decent selection of beers. We too were disappointed to see someone drive over the very wet grassed area between pitches. We hope to visit again soon.

Weekend away

We had a lovely weekend at Burr's Country Park, and the weather was good for us too. The site is well cared for and the wardens do a great job. The disappointing factor was members that don't respect the site, leaving toilets and chemical disposal points dirty, driving over grass areas which are obviously boggy at this time of year. We are looking forward to returning to the site in 2 weeks time.

2017 Feb long weekend

Great site with easy access. Site is well kept, facilities are clean and modern. Only gripe would be the pressure from the showers could be better but this is me being ultra picky. Lots to do in the surounding area. We took a trip on the East Lancashire Railway which was really good even in the eye of storm Doris. Metrolink to Manchester from Bury was reasonable and took twenty mins with free parking in Bury.

A week in mid February

This all year round site is well designed and set up. Despite the mixed weather including strong winds the excellent facilities (especially showers) helped us enjoy the stay. If you want to shop or visit nearby Bury you may need your car or motorhomes or bikes. It is easily walkable through the Country Park and local pathways but not everyone will want to tackle the distance.Walks around the Park itself are many and varied for those who like a little peace and some wildlife. The Metrolink tram service from Bury puts the centre of Manchester in reach without driving and you can change tram service in the centre and head out to all points of Greater Manchester. The East Lancashire railway is a local attraction and there is now a station halt right by the site. The end of the line is Ramsbottom, a delightful small local town and the rugged grandure of the West Pennine Moors are on the doorstep. A casual glance at a map might not suggest that Bury is much of a destination on the sites network - but you would be wrong not to give it a try. You will probably be pleasantly surprised.

First weekend in Feb 2017

Lovely site extremely clean and well maintained pitch sizes are quite large and spacious and not muddy at all very friendly and helpful staff. Steam train was an added bonus to the weekend Only negatives were the rain so dog walking was a bit wet and muddy (not the sites fault at all) and the flu virus which stopped us going out (again not the fault of the site) Will definitely book later in the year to go again as looking forward to walking around local area and trying the pub just off the site.

Shining example

Great site well kept clean and tidy. Great location for families and dogs with the country park only a stone throw away. Nice pub at the entrance. Having experienced very unfriendly male warden on this site before it was an absolute pleasure to be greeted by the winter wardens who are doing a fantastic job - from the physical jobs to the social side. They are a shining example of what we expect as wardens - thank you

East Lancashire Railway

Great site, there is now a permanent stop for the East Lancashire Railway at the site. The track runs right by the site - perfect for enthusiasts. The steam train is a wonderful experience - transporting you back to the 50's! Enjoy a cuppa in the 'buffet car' served by very presentable and knowledgeable (by the way, they - conductors, drivers and staff - are all volunteers). Not only are the trains of the era but the stations and staff have all embraced the theme with period uniforms and even piles of 'travel trunks' neatly piled on the various platforms along the way. Just hop on and off at Summerseat, Ramsbottom, and not to mention the end of the line at Rawtenstall where you can enjoy a craft beer or tea and cake at the traditional 'Waiting Room'... I returned on an early 60's diesel. You can also grab a 'Special Burrs Fare' return to Bury for only £5 to visit the Bury Market (excellent if you want some fresh meat for a barbeque!) There is a nice dog friendly tavern just outside the gates to the caravan site serving 'home cooked' meals which seems very popular with locals too.

Stay for 3 nights end of December 2016.

We stayed here just after Christmas 2016. Was very cold so we had heating on constantly. Beautiful site. Lovely staff. Immaculate facilities. Beautiful scenery and wonderful walks. Local dog friendly Pub. Will definitely return soon. No negatives at all.

GREAT SITE

We booked for two nights and decided to stay for three, then we came back a couple of weeks later, that's how much we enjoyed it! The site was spotless with large level pitches and the staff were brilliant and very helpful. A day out in Manchester was a doddle, taxi into Bury then a tram into the middle of Manchester. Bury market is a great place to visit, a twenty five minute walk or four quid each way in a taxi if you're not up for the walk. The Brown Cow just at the entrance to the site was a nice friendly pub with a happy hour a couple of days a week and the food was great and cheap enough too. Would definately recommend Burr's Country Park to anyone.
