Excellent site - didn't like the cobbles and potholes

We used the site for 4 nights as a test run for coming to wedding next year and to try van out in autumn/winter conditions. Lovely site, toilets and showers spotless. Wardens were very helpful and friendly. We survived storm force winds and rain on the second night so the van passed its test and we stayed safe and snug despite the maelstrom going on outside. We wisely didn't put the awning up! Local shopping in Bury excellent and recommend Patisserie Bury in the indoor centre. Didn't get chance to explore country park but it looked lovely and will explore next May hopefully. Good pub immediately outside site with happy hour 6 to 7pm. Only downside for us was the road up to the site. First there were speed bumps, then cobblestones and just before the site a small but moderately steep hill with a few nasty craters. Caravan jockey wheel took a bit of a clout somewhere along the line but fortunately no noticeable damage. The cobbles I can cope with but the craters need to be fixed asap. Won't stop us coming back as we'll know what to expect next time!

Burrs caravan park

Well what can I say this site is lovely. We were quite lucky to see the train go past our caravan a few times.:)) The toilets are beautifully clean. You are only 10 mins walk to the bus stop to take you into the town..Which we went to the famous Bury market. And if you want something you just have to go around the market and I am sure you would get it.It is massive and plenty of places to eat in there too.If I have to be picky the only fault the site has is there are 2 raised gates to get into the site with a fob. The first gate going into the site you have to have a passenger as the gate fob has to be used on the passengers side. So if you were on your own you would have to get out of yr car, or stretch over to sail..The other gate not a problem...... But in all, very much recommend this site.and defiantly would be going back.

Idyllic Burrs

Absolutely love this site and slways look forward to our return. It is immaculately kept, as are the facilities. The peace on-site is only disturbed but the haunting and soothing noise of the steam engines that run along side every now and then. A pleasant 30 min walk into Bury and walking distance to two pubs, both of which serve food (The Brown Cow being the nearest & the best). It's a beautiful site.

Well placed

Stayed for four days last week and after shaking over the cobbled approach, settled onto a lovely large pitch overlooking the railway. The toilet facilities were immaculate and the wardens answered all queries with a smile. The information hut was well worth a browse! A 30 minute walk takes you into Bury where you can sample the atmosphere of the traditional market or high street shops. The tram link to Manchester takes half an hour, costing £5 to use across the service - great value. Will definitely visit again to try out the adjacent pub and walks in the country park.

Nice site

We stayed for a 2 night weekend break as less than an hours drive from home. Very nice clean site. Good size and we'll spaced apart pitches with plenty of Room. All the staff are very helpful and friendly. Nice walks around the area and there is a pub on the entrance to the site which is very reasonable priced food and drink which is excellent. The bar staff are friendly and helpful. No play area for the kids however bikes and scooters are allowed and very safe for the kids to play. We will definitely be returning for anot her visit soon.

Gothic Glory

While you are at Burrs Site  have a run over to Rochdale, just a short drive away. The 1860s Town Hall is well worth a visit, with guided tours on offer (need to book). Have visited this site often and always enjoy it.   Recently extended with additional pitches. Thanks again to The Warden Team for a clean and tidy site.

great site

We have been to this site numerous times and even though we are fairly local to the area, I still enjoy coming here. The wardens and staff have always been friendly and helpful, the facilities are excellent, pitches are a good size and the site well maintained. Yes the access to the site is a little bumpy but, take it easy and it's not a problem. There are great little walks around the area, which take in the activities that go on ie. canoeing etc. or you can sit and watch the steam trains go past weather permitting of course, which are regular at weekends, and there's always Bury Market which for those who have never been is an extremely good place to visit. The little pub at the entrance is very welcoming and does great food at reasonable prices, even catered for a member of our group who has wheat intolerance. All in all would I recommend - most definately, and will carry on going back.

Recent Stay.

Agree with previous review about the road, awful !! don't think the cobbles add anything to the site.Approach road needs weeds clearing so you can the signs.a few lights would help.Good job buses have changed again so you can get back from Bury 4.25 or 5.35 otherwise it wouldn't be worth going.Shops and market worth a visit.Toilet block good with nice hot water.Easier to get out of area than arrive, lots other places worth a second visit not sure about here.

Nice surprise!

Having driven through a very busy Bury town centre. down a pot-holed road, over hundreds of cobbles I wondered what I had let myself in for! However what a lovely surprise, this site is very nice, set in a pleasant country park, the pitches are large and well spaced out and the toilet facilities were kept spotless during our stay, with the bonus of steam trains passing the site and a friendly pub outside the entrance this site is a little gem, We visited Bury market, the trafford centre and and a nearby National trust property during our stay as well as spending the day at the East Lancashire railway. There is no play area on site but with the site being next to the country park there is plenty of activities for the children to enjoy.
