Wet week but fine !

First time at Burrs. We come here to relax and start the year and we did get that. Although it rained nearly every day we did get out and about. Once to Bury market to buy a carrot cake which was fed to the birds need I say more ! We also bought a watch strap which started to come apart after two days ! So much for Burry Market ! The site was fine though no complaints about it - in fact we even stayed an extra day.

Not really for us.

We usually stay at more rural club sites but friends had recommended this site, so we decided to give it a try. For us, the site is a bit too 'urban' as you literally reach the site through a large housing estate. I know that many visitors probably stay here because of the easy access to Manchester for shopping or Bury Market etc but if you want country walks, you are limited to Burrs Country Park which is very good , although rather wet & soggy when we were there. The steam trains at the bottom of the site were a novelty & we didn't mind the noise from that plus nearby Ransbottom was pleasant to wander around for the afternoon. It was really our own fault for choosing a site that didn't really meet our requirements ( & shows that you really shouldn't rely on what friends say but go with your own instincts!) But now to the real bugbear! The wardens were lovely but something really ought to be done about those late departures!!! We have been to sites where early arrivals are the problem but here, we waited behind a camper van till 12.00 then started down the narrow cobbled road. Disaster!! The camper got through but we ended up having to reverse on the bridge (with another caravan behind us - Agh!) then somehow back onto a grass verge to let the late departers through. I counted 12 units; How selfish!!! I'm afraid the leaving time needs to be altered to 11.00 am because of these few self-centred campers! What a shame for an otherwise well run site.

Great First Stay at Burrs

Spent three nights at this site and can't rate it highly enough. The wardens were very helpful, friendly and cheerful. It is a brilliant site for dog walking with miles of river and canal paths to follow. There is also a newly constructed train station stop for the East Lancs Railway right at the side of the site. The little pub-The Brown Cow- is a two minute walk and serves basic pub grub at reasonable rates-also dog friendly. Bury's famous market is a £5 taxi ride away for those without transport, well worth the experience! Will definitely stay here again and enjoy the friendly relaxed atmosphere and explore the region more.

Another lovely weekend

Despite 4 days of rather heavy rain and wind we have come home feeling relaxed. The site was clean and tidy as is usually the case and even though we had persistent rain the pitches were not flooded. The dog walk was still well used and the pub served lovely food. I love the new train station, you can now travel from bury direct to the site. All over, this remains our goto site, thank you Burrs country park site.

Steam weekend

Always have a good time at Burrs made even better with it being a steam weekene on the East Lancs Raailway Shame alot of the pitches were reserved for a rally witch I feel was wrong had I have wanted to reserve a pitch I would not be allowed, didnt spoil the weekend just dont think its right to have one rule for one and and one rule for another, We were at Burrs between the 10th and 13th March. First outing of this year

Had a really enjoyable weekend, with both sun and lots of rain. The site was quiet and is very well maintained, with a spotless toilet block. It's good to be so close to the country park and the waterway for walks for our dog, and to watch the steam train going by is fun. The pub is so convenient for good food and a decent selection of beers. We too were disappointed to see someone drive over the very wet grassed area between pitches. We hope to visit again soon.

Weekend away

We had a lovely weekend at Burr's Country Park, and the weather was good for us too. The site is well cared for and the wardens do a great job. The disappointing factor was members that don't respect the site, leaving toilets and chemical disposal points dirty, driving over grass areas which are obviously boggy at this time of year. We are looking forward to returning to the site in 2 weeks time.

2017 Feb long weekend

Great site with easy access. Site is well kept, facilities are clean and modern. Only gripe would be the pressure from the showers could be better but this is me being ultra picky. Lots to do in the surounding area. We took a trip on the East Lancashire Railway which was really good even in the eye of storm Doris. Metrolink to Manchester from Bury was reasonable and took twenty mins with free parking in Bury.

A week in mid February

This all year round site is well designed and set up. Despite the mixed weather including strong winds the excellent facilities (especially showers) helped us enjoy the stay. If you want to shop or visit nearby Bury you may need your car or motorhomes or bikes. It is easily walkable through the Country Park and local pathways but not everyone will want to tackle the distance.Walks around the Park itself are many and varied for those who like a little peace and some wildlife. The Metrolink tram service from Bury puts the centre of Manchester in reach without driving and you can change tram service in the centre and head out to all points of Greater Manchester. The East Lancashire railway is a local attraction and there is now a station halt right by the site. The end of the line is Ramsbottom, a delightful small local town and the rugged grandure of the West Pennine Moors are on the doorstep. A casual glance at a map might not suggest that Bury is much of a destination on the sites network - but you would be wrong not to give it a try. You will probably be pleasantly surprised.
