2 night trip as we had tickets for A Question of Sport at media city in Manchester....Pub on site serves good value food and drink.
Its a long 30minute walk into town...the local taxi service is vg vfm.
Tram into town takes approx 30min and a day ticket is worth buying..service every 12 minutes
Warm welcome to this open site which overlooks the country park...we will return
Pitch cleaning .
Spent Halloween at Burs. The pitches need weeding and the growths through the hardcore needs sorting out. Spoils the site. We are frequent visitors and was dissapointed with state of the site on this visit. No other complaints. Lets the site down.
Pleasant 6 night stay at Burrs
Having read previous reviews about the wardens approach to caravaners and their dogs we were a bit unsure of booking this site but we shouldn't have bothered as all was well. We had no issues with the wardens and our 2 labs at all. We received a warm welcome and even managed to get a serviced pitch after a late booking where the warden went out of his way to accommodate us. The site was immaculately kept and a credit to the staff. We visited the local Bury market and there were plenty supermarkets close by. The local pub provided good pub grub that was reasonably priced and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We also enjoyed the frequent steam training chugging past opposite our caravan .
Steam trains!
3 nights to visit a new area. Love the location. The site was full - half term - yet felt fine. Love the short closing time for toilet cleaning! Bury Market is well worth a visit as is Bolton. We will definitely go again.
Lovely site
This was my first time caravaning, and I chose burrs park in bury. I was impressed how clean the site was. The staff obviously work hard to maintain excellent standard. On arrival I was greeted with a friendly welcome. I would definitely recommend this site, and shall be attending again. If I had one downside to the site, then it would be that I felt the shop in reception was not well stocked of daily items, even bread milk bacon etc. Apart from that, the site is lovely and therefore had a nice relaxing time. Thank you to the wardens. 😃
Wonderful stay!
We have just spent 4 nights at Burrs, this being our 2nd visit to this site. Have to say that we too are unsure of what to believe with some of the negative comments as we experienced willing, friendly, hardworking, courteous wardens who were friendly, informative and above all very approachable. Ongoing works at the site did not in any way infringe on our stay and in our opinion, all ongoing works will only serve to enhance this site. Fabulous hard standing pitches of good size available to all, some serviced also so catering for those who have their reasons as to why they prefer serviced pitches. Plenty of service area's around the site and with the sweeping roads, you do not feel like you are all parked in a line. I think some (a) pathways would be beneficial from the area at the back of the site nearest the railway to the shower block would be advantageous as it is a bit long winded if in a hurry you need to utilise the toilets, no problem for us as we use our own. Will be back to this site as it is easy to access from all major routes and on the edge of a large town but has a very countryside feel to it. I did not encounter any issues with dogs or their mess whilst on site and wardens are currently putting a little dog exercise area in to try and negate some problems they have had. Wardens cannot be held responsible however for irresponsible dog owners who fail to obey the law.

Dogs and the River
I just read the previous review which mentions reports of dogs being poisoned because of drinking river water. The Environment Agency have said the river water has been tested and there is no evidence of any pollution or poisoning.
Third visit this year
Spent two night here last week and I really don't recognise the site from reading a few reviews on here.
We arrived to a warm, friendly yet efficient check in service. As usual we were told about the pitching but also giving information about which pitches were being converted to hard standings and undergoing current work so we could avoid them if we wished. The work didn't interfere with our stay and there was minimal noise.
Toilet block was warm, clean and just as we expect from a club site.
We love this site because of its location right by the country park with river walks, fishing and a good honest local pub on the doorstep.
Dog owners Warning
There have been reports of dogs being poisoned by drinking the water from the river.
Oh. What a shame
Have stayed at this site many times over the years since it opened. At the moment there is no washing machine and seems to have been out of order for months......WHY.....The cleanliness of the facilities could be improved a lot.
