Problems with electricity supply weekend 18/19 November

As stated in previous reviews, there is a problem with the power supply on this site. I'm not going into great detail but we had 5 power failures lasting average 15-30 minutes on Friday night, continued issues on Saturday, and woke up in freezing temperature on Sunday to no power again!!! Not good. I have contacted the club and given them details and the area manager is being notified. Hopefully this will bring about a resolution to the ongoing problem.

Power Supply Problems Need Resolving

This is an ideal site for any heritage railway fan, with the ELR running along the boundary and the Burrs Country Park platform. Bury is close enough for a 20-30min walk along pathways and the pub at the entrance proves very popular for food and drink. We received a warm welcome from the friendly staff. We were on a serviced pitched on the newly extended section of the site. Over the weekend 10-12 Nov. we had 5 power cuts which only effected all the new part of the site. One on Friday evening, three on Saturday evening and one more on Sunday morning. The warden came out every time to re-set the power supply but appeared to blame the members, not the power supply. The site was full and it was very cold so most would have heating on but the same can be said of the older section of the site where no interruptions occurred The power supply needs checking and members informed if there are specific power usage restrictions.

Cold weather but warm welcome .

Stayed in this site from 6th- 11th of Novenber . The Warden was really welcoming and nothing was too much trouble . The site is ideally situated , the country park is next door for walking and there is a pub just by the entrance to the site , plus another a short walk away .You can walk into town in 25minutes .Bury Market is well worth a visit as are the museums. You can get a bus or tram to Manchester - would suggest the tram it's much quicker but you can't use your Bus Pass on it unless you live in the Greater Manchester area .It was really cold whilst we were there but perhaps because the site was by no mean full we did not experience any problems with the electrics. Will definitely be visiting again .

Good site, "but"

Two nights at Burrs Country Park over the weekend was an enjoyable experience, however with the weather being cold, most caravans had their heating on plus other electrical appliances, Friday night we had one power failure, Saturday night two, Sunday one, the site has been extended however it seems that the power supply has not, being open all year power is essential during the winter months, I am sure the caravan and motorhome club have not heard the last of this. The Burrs Country Park station part of the East Lancs Railyway is ideal for exploring Bury, Ramsbottom and Rawtenstall, The Brown Cow pub at the entrance to the site is always busy and serves good quality food, it is advisable to book, Saturday night we had to dine at the Garsdale which is less than half a mile from the site, whilst the food was good, it was very quiet. The toilet facilities as usual were very clean as was the site. Looking forward to going again, hopefully with power.

Great site, BUT.....

We have just been to Burrs for a few nights. A regular visit for us. Nice to see the new pitches and that this has also increased the number and location of the service pitches. However during our 3 night stay we had 4 power-cuts. It would appear that the additional load from the new pitches is causing the main site supply to trip. The warden said it was because everyone had their heating on! This is an all year round site and so people will have their heating on. They were not overloading their own 16A bollard supply, it was the combined load of all of the pitches tripping they main supply. Come on Caravan Club, get this sorted. Surely this should have been thought about when the new pitches were planned.

Love this site

What a brilliant site!!! First time for myself and hubby. Site is extremely clean, toilet/ shower block perfect. Fantastic little pub which is very welcoming. Love the station where you can get the steam train. On arrival was met by a very charming lady. We are definitely putting this site on my favorite list and will be returning. Good for children plenty of space for them to play. Although we don't have a dog there are lots of people with dogs. Very quiet at night. Certainly worth a visit but keep it a secret gem so I can get on site again. 😀😀❤️

Pitch cleaning .

Spent Halloween at Burs. The pitches need weeding and the growths through the hardcore needs sorting out. Spoils the site. We are frequent visitors and was dissapointed with state of the site on this visit. No other complaints. Lets the site down.

Pleasant 6 night stay at Burrs

Having read previous reviews about the wardens approach to caravaners and their dogs we were a bit unsure of booking this site but we shouldn't have bothered as all was well. We had no issues with the wardens and our 2 labs at all. We received a warm welcome and even managed to get a serviced pitch after a late booking where the warden went out of his way to accommodate us. The site was immaculately kept and a credit to the staff. We visited the local Bury market and there were plenty supermarkets close by. The local pub provided good pub grub that was reasonably priced and the staff were welcoming and friendly. We also enjoyed the frequent steam training chugging past opposite our caravan .

Steam trains!

3 nights to visit a new area. Love the location. The site was full - half term - yet felt fine. Love the short closing time for toilet cleaning! Bury Market is well worth a visit as is Bolton. We will definitely go again.
