Great views

Our second time at Bunree and sadly both times we had a deluge of rain so not able to enjoy it at its best. However during the very brief spell when the rain stopped we were able to walk along the edge of the Loch to get some photos. If we were there longer and during better weather it would mean driving out as not actually in Fort William. The wardens were friendly and all as you would expect from a CC site. The shower block was clean but looked a little tired.

Beautiful location

Location of this site is simply stunningly beautiful (although I think the description of Bunree as IN Fort William is stretching it a little as it's 10 miles away!) Wardens superbly friendly and helpful; facilities immaculately clean and tidy. If you're a hill-walker you'll be in heaven; if you like the Highlands you'll love this place, although shops and other facilities are all a good step away by car. If the weather's kind I could sit for days just looking at it, and even when it's raining it just changes from one beauty to another. (aside observation - Absolutely NOT the site's fault, but we weren't at all impressed with any part of Fort William itself except for its excellent Morrisons! - this was in June, and maybe it's better when it's covered in snow and the skiing/climbing season is underway, he said optimistically....)

Holiday Haven

A beautiful location to stay at, wonderful scenery and lots of wildlife to see. The site is very well cared for by friendly helpful wardens, we stayed back from the loch side as we used an awning, but still had a clear view of the ever changing scenery. A good central spot to visit lots of beautiful areas and interesting places.

Just when you did not think things good get better.

An unscheduled stop as we had a problem with motorhome and needed to find a garage. We had been enjoying the scenery of Loch Ness and the breathtaking mountains. The wardens were very helpful and put us in touch with a local garage Chisholms, who were also really helpful and sorted our problem. We got a lochside pitch and even with the weather not being at its best the landscape was stunning. You can walk the dogs on the beach. Next time we come to Scotland this will be high on the list to visit. A great end to our Scottish trip.

Loch side haven

Spent two nights here and what a lovely site, great views across the loch excellent facilities and friendly and helpful wardens. Took a bus into Fort William only a short walk to the bus stop. Sadly the weather was torrential rain most of our stay but still a lovely spot to be. Will be back??

Retreat

Back again to my favourite site, the jewel in the club's crown.Site is as usual beautifully kept with nice natural ground works, grass left longer round trees many different varieties of grasses and wild flowers allowed to thrive, plenty of bee and butterfly activity.Seals otter herons and salmon and mackerel jumping.Sea eagle spotted over Heron Bay. What more could a girl want? Delightful and helpful wardens too, nice to be able to have a quick chat to when you go solo. Bracken,Bramble and I will be back in October, for the changing colours of Autumn.

lochside views and exercise

Only stayed two nights and although the site was busy the lochside pitch was great. We took the warden's advice and cycled to Corran ferry (free for bikes) then turned right and cycled along Loch Linnhe and back. We had a great view of the top of Ben Nevis as the cloud lifted at just the right time.

Top site

A very warm and helpful welcome on arrival, giving all the information required, and the left to pick the pitch that is best for you. Most pitches give you a view of the loch from your van, and it also has a nice and handy dog walk area. The main facility block, which is kept spotless, is central to all the pitches so you are not very far away, where ever you set up. For 20p, which goes in a charity box, you can pick up a sheet of local walks, and we went on all of them and was not disappointed with any of them. Ben Nevis is only a short drive to get to also. The only negative I can give for this site is that I didn't book it for a long enough stay, but we had four fantastic days. Fortunately, we were there on Tuesday when the fresh fish van comes to site, fresh haddock for tea, and kippers for breakfast, brilliant.  this is a must stay site when heading to the Highlands.
