Fabulous site

We have just toured the highlands of Scotland and this site was one visited, it's a lovely site next to the golf course and then the beach, great for dogs they can run and stretch their legs, the site itself is a little gem with grass and some hard standing, pristine clean facilities and helpful, friendly staff. The village and harbour of Brora is a little drive away with a co-op, Chinese takeaway and a few little shops.

Even better than expected

Loved this place , and stayed an extra couple of nights , beach walks , forest walks on the doorstep and a well laid out pitch arrangement --highly recommended .

A wonderful spot

Loved the area and the site but then we did have decent weather. Snatch the sunny days and enjoy. Site as a whole was friendly - just one of those' chat to everyone you meet' sites. The arctic terns were mob handed on the beach during our visit but fascinating to see their behaviour. Cows on the golf course was less expected but as we didn't play golf it was amusing. Would visit again.

Fantastic site!

We and our two dogs stayed for three nights in our Motorhome. The site was quite busy (due to being on the Route500) but we had a lovely pitch with lots of room. The site is situated by a golf course and you can walk over the course to the beach. There are nesting terms on this section of beach so access is restricted. However, there is a path that runs alongside the beach and takes you into Brora itself, where you can find pubs, cafes and a lovely walk further up the river takes you to the Heritage Centre. There is plenty to do in the area including Dunrobin Castle, Helmsdale and its museum and gold panning. The site itself was great, very well kept. The toilet block was clean and showers didn't have that horrible time button! The wardens were friendly and helpful, always smiling. It was quiet, despite being relatively close to the railway line and A9. Definetly somewhere we would return to.

A Special site by the sea

The Brora site is a very special one , in a very special part of Scotland. The site itself is clean and very tidy and the facilities well up to the usual Caravan and Motorhome standards. Showers we found particularly good, with plentiful hot water. As mentioned a short walk across the nearby Golf links and you will find 3 km of stunningly beautiful beach. Ideal for exercising your dogs (there is also a smallish area adjacent to the site) and the beach is also ideal for exercising yourself! The town of Brora can be reached either by walking down the beach or along the coastal path that runs down the side of the Golf Links. If you decide to take the beach route you’ll need to cross some small streams that flow onto the shore. Easily done with decent footwear, or none at all, after all, you’re on a beach. The Brora town walk guide is available at the site reception and it is well worth picking up a copy (it’s free). There is a lot of history in Brora, from the Temperance Hall (now used by the 1st Brora Brownies amongst others!) to the defunct GCHQ “Y” listening station from WW2 and the Cold War. There was even a coal mind at one point. The walk from the site, around the town, and back again will take around leisurely 2.5 hours, but you can take longer by stopping for “refreshment” in the town. So, a site we would heartily recommend and will certainly re-visit

Great Site

Stayed at this site for 3 nights and could not fault anything. The wardens work very hard to keep everything in great condition and absolutely no complaints about the facilities as very clean and warm - what else do you need. Looking forward to our next stay. The location and the walk into Brora along the golf course or beach is just lovely. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Beautiful Brora

The most wonderful location with beautiful deserted beach. Just spent another glorious fortnight at this site with our dogs and it never fails to impress. Dedicated and friendly wardens (Carl and Dawn) who are meticulous in maintaining a very clean site and extend every courtesy to guests. Very impressed. The site is getting a little tired (only the shower block that is) but with wardens like these, you hardly notice. Loads of hot water day and night and everything maintained to a very high standard. Cannot thank or praise the wardens highly enough. Regarding previous reviews, we would never dream of taking a television to this location therefore the reception is not an issue for us...surely the object is to try and escape the intrusion of television into our every day lives, and the enjoyment of this particular site is found in the wonderful natural attractions and wildlife? I suppose it's each to their own but I certainly don't see the lack of reception of BBC tv as any kind of drawback. Quite the reverse. Equally, a complaint about the water being "too hot" serves to prove you just simply cannot please everyone all of the time. Yes, the heating boiler broke down and yes the electricity went off for about 45 minutes but that's life. The wardens did everything within their power to rectify the situation almost immediately so can't really ask anything more. What this site offers is a comfortable and elegantly peaceful retreat surrounded by glorious wildlife. Cannot wait to return in July.

Heating problems

Booked in to Brora site early due to conditions on the West Coast. We had booked in before being op informed that heating is shower block was not available. As we are quite elderly it would have been nice to have been advised of this problem as heating at this particular time was required due to very cold conditions. Otherwise all good.

Comment from the Club:

Many thanks for leaving a review and we are so sorry that the heating problems in the toilet blocks impacted your enjoyment of your stay. For future reference, if you experience an issue like this again, please speak to the site staff as they would be more than happy to refund you and book you into the nearest Club site with availability as an alternative to your stay. Please be assured the heating is now fixed and the site staff hope to greet you on site again soon.
