NC500 at last
Very Attractive, Peaceful Site
Bora is a very attractive campsite within a small woodland setting, with individual hedges separating most of the pitches, which are also mostly quite big sized pitches. Lovely views of the nearby hills in the distance. It is one of my favourites as is so peaceful. Single couple wardens, as it’s a smaller site, been there for a few years, are welcoming and friendly and the facilities are kept very clean and are a decent number. The nearby beach, accessed across the golf course (with its resident sheep and cattle) is stunning and often can be almost deserted. The small 2 carriage local train passes nearby approximately 4 times a day, also lovely to watch. We have visited this campsite many times and also the area as return to visit relatives and always enjoy and look forward to our visit. However I am saddened by the effect of the ill thought through NC500 tourist route created by the SNP government, with no additional investment to the local communities now suffering the over whelming number of tourists , resulting in many one night, travelling through campers, not really their fault, but they have little time to speak much to other campers and the campsite is now fairly empty during the daytime and although full at night, it feels a bit soul less now, lacking a feel of community. I would suggest maybe create a row of allocated pitches for the one night NC500 travellers and let longer stayers or less rushed campers relax and enjoy the campsite together. Just my thoughts, others will disagree i imagine!
