If you are travelling to Orkney this is the ideal club site as the journey to either ferry across the Pentland Firth is less than 2 hours. There are good roads whether you are travelling north, south or across to the west coast. But the gem of this site is the beach which is easy to access by a short stroll across the golf course. If you arrive tired after all your travelling (which we did) the paddling or swimming opportunities here will revive every time. Friendly warm welcome from the wardens and usual high standard of facilities.
Perfectly placed.
A perfectly placed site if you are doing the NC500. I stopped here on my way round. Dropped the wobble box off, and explored the area. I had a very good pitch alongside the golf course. Easy walk to a fabulous beach. Facilities were clean and well looked after. Would stay here again if coming passed.
Great campsite
Great site and location. We are coming back very soon. Everything clean, tidy and well kept.
Great site, very welcoming staff
We stayed a night here during our tour of the NC500.
Lovely, well maintained site with friendly and welcoming wardens. The site is well maintained and close to the beach via a short walk over the adjacent golf club.
Definitely a site we would return to
Stunning Location
Lovely location on the east coast. Five minute walk across the golf course adjacent, to the beach. Stunning red sand beach. Weather was showery and cold during our visit but who cares with such views and scenery all around!
As in a lot of sites, showers and toilet facilities were a bit tired but exceptionally clean. We appreciated the book and DVD exchange or a donation could be made instead if you have none the swap.
Brora has a coop for supplies and can be walked to up the golf course if you like but we stopped back there after our day out. It has an ice cream shop and a couple of take aways as far as we could see…we didn’t use them this time.
We stayed for two nights and explored the coast road up as far as Wick. Helmsdale has a great fish and chip shop ( huge portions) and also a restaurant. We got fish and chips and ate them overlooking the harbour. Also there is a nice harbour and walk to a Fairy Glen at Latheron Wheel.
Staff were brilliant and so friendly.
Birds a bit noisy at night and you could hear the sound of the train in the distance but it didn’t overly bother us as you get used to it after a while.
We would definitely return when in the area.
Wee tended site
A larger club site without being crowded.
Great access to the beach over the golf course, dogs loved it.
Two night stay
Has a great stay. Site is well kept and the toilet block spotless. Well stocked information room. Beautiful beach and nice quiet location. Staff friendly and helpful. Certainly be back and appreciate the 1 pm arrival as the access bridge is tight for crossing to get to site.

Beautiful well kept site
Stayed 2 nights here and found it to be one of the best kept sites on the north coast 500. The warden was lovely and worked hard to keep the site well maintained. Everything well thought out and the flowers and gardens were a credit to her. Even pets had their own ball and stick library.
Ideally situated near the beach just a short walk across the golf course to a beautiful beach. You can wild swim or surf. Walk to Brora which is about a 3 quarter of an hour walk. A restaurant serving meals and takeaways after 5.00pm. 2 cafes a large coop and a lovely walk along the river. There is also a bakery in the village.
A highly enjoyable and relaxed stay.

Lovely site
Only stopped for one night on a very windy evening. Site was lovely with a pleasant walk across the golf course to the beach. Facilities were a little older but very clean and perfectly acceptable. Site staff were very helpful and friendly. A good stopover for anyone doing the NC500.
First time ever in over 10 years told to come back in 12 minutes
We arrived 12 minutes early across the recommended approach which was very tight, so much so that I would love to see some if the longer wider MHs negotiate the railway bridge (rather than a much more user friendly approach via level crossing).
No one in front of us so settled in to wait until reception opened at 1.00pm. We were promptly told by the warden to turn around and go back to the town and park up before returning at 1.00pm. This is a round trip of 10 minutes!
We did ask just to wait as no one in front or behind, but this was not acceptable, so we were *forced* to do a circuit, where we parked up in an abandoned campsite nearby.
Three other arrivals arrived just minutes after us but were allowed to wait!
If there is an access issue with queuing units, just let them onsite to find their pitch and return to reception?
If we had all arrived at 1.00pm, the queue would have been more disruptive. Needs some serious rethinking of approach and waiting process methinks.
I checked Google earth and the alternative access seemed to be a public highway with no restrictions.
