WOULD NOT GO BACK!

From what appears to be a very nice looking site in a great location, I really would not return or recommend this place. This site is not worthy to be associated with the Caravan & Motorhome Club! First off the reception staff have an attitude and persona that make you feel as though you are an inconvenience from the moment you turn up to the moment you leave to hand back your swipe card. Next up; the wardens just appear to be having their own holiday... they really couldn't care and there are no site rules being upheld. Amplified sound systems blasting out from the tent field making our van vibrate from the bass, and when contacting the wardens about the volume they just said "well as long as it'd not annoying anyone"... Just looking around everyone had gone inside their vans on such a hot evening too, perhaps more should have complained. Then there's the unruly kids (I’m not against kids having fun or playing), now a usual policy of any campsite is don't cut through someone else's pitch. Here is seems perfectly acceptable for kids to fly around at high speed on bikes, through your pitch, around your van, under your canopy, climbing in trees at the rear of your pitch from first thing in the morning to last thing at night when there's a perfectly good play park for them. You wouldn't even want to sit outside late even when music isn't blasting out due to the constant disruption. Our new awning has also been damaged beyond repair, marks of oil from a pushbike chain on one corner and pegs being dislodged when we returned to the site one day. It appears a pushbike has shot through at the rear of our pitch between our van and the hedge row and someone came off into our awning, this has split the air poles next to the valve meaning we had to take down our awning early as it wouldn't hold air and it's in an area which can't be repaired. Our sun canopy also nearly came a cropper when a child ran through and caught our guy rope holding it, luckily I had managed to get the pegs in properly for that, but they marked their face up from the guy rope so that was some speed they came running through at. Next to mention are the hard standings... using a 4lb hammer on rock pegs seemed to work in some areas but there were a lot of places where the pegs wouldn't go in more than 2"-3" before they just stopped. I have never bent so many rock pegs attempting to get them in the ground ever! So be warned if wanting to put up an awning, we took very heavy duty good quality rock pegs and still couldn’t drive them in properly. All in all, the site has so much potential, but it needs to be governed correctly with simple basic standards that most other sites adopt. A clean toilet block is not enough to warrant a holiday anywhere.

Great Site

Not long back from a 2 week stay which covered the weekend of Brighton Pride, the atmosphere was amazing almost a carnival feeling a bit noisy at times but such a friendly bunch of people. The light show on the various vans was just like Christmas! In spite of being very full the staff managed to do an amazing job keeping everything clean and tidy.

Disappointed this time....

We have visited this site on 3 other ocassions and not been disapponted.....its up to usual CMHC standards. This time, in peak season, we were disappointed. The moral of our story is that it's people who have impacted on our stay....another time it would probably be fine. What I would add is that wardens, although busy, need to enforce club rules to facilitate change in people's behaviour & lack of respect. A dog being walked on next door pitch, kids out of control on bikes....that sort of thing. We will go back though & hope for the best !

Room for Improvement

The site's location is perfect for our requirements as I tend to stay a couple of days spending time with my wife as she works locally. The site is well laid out, We tend not to use the facilities as we are pretty much self-sufficient so we cannot vouch for them. The WiFi, we use often and has never failed us. As with all, there is room for improvement; We were on site the during the week beginning 11 Aug. Unfortunately a number of occupants were robbed of their belongings. The incident was reported to the Police and they were on site the following day. Informing new arrival and those already onsite to be extra vigilant would have been a reasonable and sensible course of action.

Second time around - even better!

We spent three nights here in July 2019. This was our second visit, and it proved just as good as the first, which was a couple of years ago. The lady on reception was most welcoming and helpful. Our pitch was served by an access loop near the site entrance and was all one could wish for. Brighton is a most exciting resort, with something for everyone. A particular delight are the very regular bus services. The closest stop for buses going to Brighton centre is at Whitehawk bus garage reached via Henley Road, just opposite the access drive which leads to the club site. The site is protected by barriers for which an key card is needed. "Site Full" notices were displayed during our stay, but there was no sign of undue pressure on facilities. All in all this is a very interesting site which has Glamping and Camping areas as well as the Tourer Pitches. It maintains an atmosphere of relative isolation and seclusion, albeit that it is on the edge of the town. All facilities are maintained to the usual high standard.

Summer stopover

Three night stopover of our Summer break. Good location for Brighton close to the Marina which has lots of restaurants. Reasonable large sized pitches. Facilities where ok however showers not very powerful but clean. Uber taxi is a must have for getting around quick and easy No free WiFi unlike other camping and caravanning club sites.

RUBBISH WIFI

WIFI was supposed to be "SILVER" throughout the site. The only way we were able to get it was by tethering to my phone. We had family staying in a Glamp unit and 2 others in the tent area, no one could get to log on to the site WIFI over 4-5 days. This was using different laptops, Iplayers and a MAC. I even tried standing next to a mast without success. Other campers also complained about their lack of access logging on. As far as help from a member of staff it was our problem not his! We couldn't fault the the rest of the site, well kept and the facilities were very clean. We have been several times and will continue to do so.

Very helpful staff...

We have stayed on this site many times, it has always been a great site to stay on, we would just like to thank all the staff for being so helpful and friendly, when we was moved to another pitch when our fridge didn't work and we was on a slope, once again a big thank you!
