Very disappointed with our 5th visit to this site. We decided to make a short trip to Brighton as our 1st post lockdown motorhome trip. The booking in process was not what the Club had stated. A member of staff asked that my wife get out and queue to book in while I remained in the vehicle to move the motorhome as we moved up the queue. My wife had to wait Outside reception in 34 degrees of direct sunshine with no shade. Ridiculous!
We were not informed of the toilet block Covid procedures, so had to ask at reception. The procedures clearly did not work. There were no wristbands in the jar even though there was nobody in the toilet block. The wristband jar contained no more that 1/4 of an inch of liquid and about half a dozen flies. All very hygienic!!!
The pitch we selected backed on to trees. Under the trees was a number of pieces of rubbish, mainly plastic. Had obviously not been cleaned/checked for ages.
We do accept that the staff have a tough job at the moment, but our experience was not what we expect from a Club site. Will not be going back!
August 2020
I concur totally with the above last 2 reviews. We did not actually feel safe in the site, my 12 year old refused to go out alone. The facilities were really very dirty and considering there is a global pandemic on I was surprised by this. Caravan Club Covid rules were broken and nobody did anything about it, regularly we saw pitches with external visitors on. The toilets were used by people not from the site, site wardens you really need to get a grip on behaviour and facilities management, it is really not acceptable for the Caravan & Motorhome Club.
Noise & parties - these were never addressed by wardens even after complaints: the first few nights saw neighbours having to talk to another neighbour about the music they were playing extremely loudly. On the last night a large group of men partied until 6 in the morning...( 5 men arrived in a motorhome and yet far more men and women were at the party! - work that one out in terms of Covid rules and regulations). The large group were urinating in the grass verge in full broad daylight.
Dogs - not everybody likes dogs, wardens never tackled the large amounts of dogs off the leads roaming the site, the dogs did their business on the grass verges and these were never cleaned up by the owners.
The site was a mess...After months of lockdown and rules put in place for every bodies protection I feel let down by this site. We will not be returning! 😔

ok for short stay
This is an urban site despite its proximity to the downs. Busy when we visited and felt it. lots of hard standing and feels like a car park, a stop over. Well kept and clean facilities. The access road through East Brighton park is a potholed mess and the park itself was strewn with litter. Very tricky getting through parked cars. Brighton is a disappointment, grubby and run down. Sussex is lovely though. Ditchling offers spectacular views and walks.
Only stayed because I had an event nearby. Would never choose as a holiday destination.

Not what we expected
Whilst we have had a nice holiday we feel like we have a few points to make...some of which we will write directly to the club about.
The club website and site posters advertise that the site is COVID secure which gives you confidence.there is a system in place (wristbands in the bucket), however this system doesn’t not work. Unfortunately there seems to be several people who disregard the system which is there to protect us all and so when you use the toilet block you don’t know how many people are in, the bands go missing , people go in without a band, and I even witnessed a man blatantly coming in to use the women’s shower despite a queue of women being there.
The toilet blocks were closed for 2.5 hours every afternoon for cleaning but several items eg a werthers sweet on the floor remained for several days. During our visit the cleaning times changed to add another half hour morning clean.
The road through the park which is the entrance to the site is occupied by several and various motor homes, caravans and vans powered by generators which seem to be permanent residences for some and stopover places for others. They leave litter and a strong smell of urine. Goodness knows where they empty their toilets!!! I do feel site toilets should be locked as anybody could come in and use them.
Brighton itself is quite scruffy , there is a lot of graffiti and litter. The marina is quite run down , many shops are empty possibly due to covid.
The pitch and putt was good fun £9 each for 16 holes and the cafe was nice and not expensive. saltdean beach is lovely and there’s is a lido which we didn’t use , apparently during covid entrance times are restricted but normally you can go for the day.
Would we return? We had a nice pitch, and possibly our trip has been affected by covid, but in all honesty, probably not.

5 night stay July 2020
This is a lovely tiered site, well maintained, with views of the surrounding downs. It’s location for Brighton is excellent, though if you’re still a bit nervous of large crowds as we emerge from the pandemic, might be best to avoid Brighton seafront. Social distancing seems to be hard to grasp for many.
The approach to the site through the park resembled a travellers ‘camp’ when we stayed. Caravans, Motorhomes, and vans in varying states, litter etc. Plus, the approach road has some nasty potholes. Not the clubs fault, but they should be putting pressure on the local council to sort things out.
We also found the decoration and external lighting on some of our fellow campers to be somewhat ‘over the top’. If that’s your ‘thing’ then great, but please don’t make the assumption that everyone likes it. I love the flashy poles attached to A frames, but not when parts of the site resemble the Las Vegas strip. Less is more; stay classy Brighton 😎
freedom at last
we arrived at the designated time and everything was very organised, great friendly wardens and a lovely site that we will visit again.Shower block system with wristbands worked very well.
A GREAT WEEKEND IN BRIGHTON
We stayed two nights on the Brighton Club Site and would thoroughly recommend it. The site is fantastically situated to the east of the town of Brighton within walking distance of the marina with numerous shops, bars and cafés. You can cycle easily along a flat cycle path into Brighton itself and the excellent bus service, with its nearest stop a 10 minute walk away, runs regularly night and day. There is also a great walk from the campsite up onto the Downs from where you can enjoy far-reaching views. The facilities on the site were super modern and clean with plenty of hot water and the office staff couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. In addition to this, the pitches were flat and spacious.
This was our first day on a Caravan and Motorhome Club site and we would recommend it unreservedly.
Highly recommend
Spotless, friendly, peaceful, well organised site. The site is well maintained with not a weed in sight ..... I had the pleasure of using the shower blocks which is perfectly heated, the water temperature is just right and its a pleasure listening to the radio throughout the block even in the laundry room.... This was my first visit to a clubs site and Brighton did not disappoint. I highly recommend a visit....

All looking tired and worn
The site in general is looking very tired the pitches are overrun with weeds and the landscaping looks abandoned. The place needs a good clean and weeding. The toilet blocks where very cold when we was there over New Year. I hate to say this but it looks run down!
Satisfactory
Superbly amenable wardens. We were delayed by a couple of days due to car problem but it was no problem to them. Excellent site, superb facilities. Good access to Brighton, only thing I would say is that compared to other club sites, it seemed very expensive. Presumably that was due to time of year. Very quiet, lots of wildlife. Would recommend.
