First timer

Ok so I am first timer at a CC site and I thought it was lovely. My only thought would be, they should make the toilets/showers ladies/men. Yep keep them Covid safe but go back to having seperate mens and ladies. Otherwise everyone was super friendly and helpful for this first timer, I was only here for a 3 nights so didnt need a big pitch but totally understand if you were here for a week or more why you would want a bigger pitch. Having said that, everything was very clean. Super tidy and it really is in a great spot.

First visit to this site

We almost went passed the site entrance on our arrival due to there being no signage across the road. The siting of current signage is upon you before you know it when approaching from Bridport. We were allocated a pitch based on the size of our unit which was a first with the CC and the pitch we had was small with no space to park our car at the side. Clearly a recent acquisition for the Club as the pitch sizes were small and the toilet block was very dated. The covid rules were adhered to most times by other campers. I would have expected some hand sanitizer at the water and waste points. The roadway on site is white stone which did make it hard to use the pull along wheels on the toilet waste and there was only one chemical disposal point. We were disturbed by two different sets of campers, both in motorhomes who had their radios/cd,s playing quite loudly which did spoil our peace and quiet. The site is in a lovely location and once the CC have carried out improvements will certainly be a great acquisition.

A very cramped site in Bridport

We have recently returned from a break at Bingham Grange and were most unimpressed. This recent addition to the network falls well below the club standards that we have come to expect. The pitches are far too small for the average 4 berth caravan with awning, leaving cars parked all over the place. It felt a bit like camping in a Tesco car park. Lots of empty tent pitches so there is room to re-design the layout and pitches but this will need a big investment. Not a site we will be coming back to in the future unless it is brought up to club standard. Allowances were made for the covid restrictions and we had no complaints about the staff. Some visitors seemed to know nothing about the covid arrangements with rubber bands etc. We suspect a number of caravan owners had allowed visitors to stay which was against the rules which we accept would be difficult to control. Sorry club. You have made a mistake in buying this old commercial site.

Definitely in need of a CAMC refurbishment

So obviously a commercial site, ready for refurbishment (which I believe is in the pipeline but now on hold). I would say it just scrapes its 4 stars. On this basis, the prices are a little steep, I would say. The pitch sizes vary enormously, which means the site team need to allocate pitches. A real headache for them, I am sure. Sadly, we observed and then experienced two errors with this system during our stay. Quickly and professionallly resolved, though I should add. I think we all have different preferences so being able to pick your own spot, from the availability on arrival, is a definite benefit and the norm within the Club. And just one chemical disposal point, at the top of a steep hill - which is quite a climb if you find yourself at the bottom. Having said that, the location is beautiful and convenient (so it is obvious why the Club took on this site). But we will not be returning until the refurbishment is complete.

Not usual Club Standards

Pitches very small. Electric Supply only 10 amp. Which meant even boiling a kettle would trip it. Bins in toilets too small and often overflowing several of the sanitisers didn’t work. Used to be a private site and not up to club standards.

Beautiful setting

Very pleasant site set in lovely rolling Dorset countryside. Different from normal CC sites as many pitches are pleasantly hedged and the layout is on a hillside. Facilities are excellent as are the staff. There are good walks direct from the site and cycle routes can be reached with a small amount of main road.

overnighter

Having spent many times at bingham grange with the previous owners and now with the caravan and motorhome club. we still love coming here although the facilities are now getting dated and feel the showers need to be updated. the restaurant is a must for us, the food is good and piping hot, chef is to be recommended, service is very good. hope the restaurant stays.

Weekend in October

Not your ordinary club site and we hope it doesn't change. The approach gives a hint of the views available, if you pitch up in the right direction! Some pitches are small and quirky and surrounded with waist high hedging which gives a degree of 'ownership'. One loo wouldn't full flush and I am not a fan of overhead showers but all tastefully upgraded to Club Site standards. Unusual for a bar on site but Buzzards had the right kind of ambience for drinking and/or eating. Staff very friendly and helpful and the service in the restaurant was first class! We ate their twice and the quality of food was excellent. ( i recommend their beef jalfrezi!) Very dog friendly, the walk takes you down to the river which if full of wildlife. Plenty to do in the area, we went to West Bay and the Symonsdbury estate with coffees in Bridport. Market day there is bustling and we will definitely be back for another curry soon!

"Good Location"

We've been twice this year to the site, 1 week in May and 2 in August and had a lovely peaceful time. The site and facilities were always clean and tidy, and the staff aways acknowledged you when they walked by. If you get the right pitch the views over the surrounding fields are lovely.

Lovely little gem, please do not spoil it

We stayed here for 4 nights over the August Bank Holiday and what a lovely tranquil place it is. Please do not spoil it and remove its charm. It is great as it is. Would`nt see why people would hate it. Will deffo re visit next year as long as it is left as is, if it to commercialised and spoiled it will lose its appeal. Leave this place as is. I can`t rate the family section as it was just me my partner and our dogs.
