A pleasant surprise

I was very nervous on arrival having read the scathing reviews of the site. I however, was very pleasantly surprised. Check in was allocated which I prefer anyway. The warden was first class (apologies didn’t get your name) but she went way above and beyond getting me leaflets etc for me to find places to occupy my children (I am a single dad). The toilets were good, especially the slate floored family rooms. All were clean and the protocols for COVID adhered to. I rarely use the facilities on any site but wanted to check them out to be able to comment. Walks around the site were nice too. All areas well maintained. The pitches were long rather than wide but there was plenty of space to the next pitch and didn’t feel cramped whatsoever. Views over the valley were pleasant and I didn’t experience the complaints of smells or anything else that the other visitors have had. Yes you park your car in front of your caravan rather than the side, but there is ample space to be able to do so. Even then you have a huge grass area to the next pitch on either side. Other pitches were hedged further down the campsite. Overall I was very happy with the site.

A little dissappointed

Booked for three nights stayed for two. No complaint with location and friendly and hard working staff but lots of noisy machinery on site and the most tiny pitches we have ever come across on a club site. We had pitch 40 which is just wide enough for the caravan and the walk to the caravan door. No room for the car had to park at angle in front of van. Covid plans worked well in the main. Did not like the soaking wet floors in most of the combined toilet/shower rooms leaving water all around toilet pans. The toilet/shower arrangement here are very different to most club sites we have visited. Not for us, our least favourite club site, we shall not return.

Lovely Stay

Pleasant stay, lovely beautiful location. Spotlessly clean toilet facilities, hard working team of site wardens. Couple of points to note - very small tightly packed in pitches. We booked a serviced pitch, caravan and awning only just fitted, no space for the car! Thoughtless dog owners allowing dogs to foul on spare pitches, although the site had a lovely dog walking area we had to clean up the grass area around our pitch on arrival - very unpleasant and unfair on the wardens who work so hard to keep site clean and tidy.

Lovely Stay

We have just arrived home after a lovely six night stay at the site. The facilities were well looked after and maintained providing members followed the guidance about hanging a wristband outside the unisex toilets on the hooks provided. You knew you had to wait outside if all the hooks were taken. The only drawback was if a member went in and didn’t hang their wristband on the hook. I went into a unisex toilet which should have been empty to find a male using the urinal! All the site staff were lovely and friendly, Kim asked us if we would mind moving pitch after 3 nights due to the 6m rule not being met. This was explained fully why in a friendly way offering help if needed and we were more than happy to accommodate the request. It is a lovely welcoming quiet site and the only noise was from the warden team doing necessary maintenance tasks to keep the site looking spotless. We had a lovely stay and will be back.

Splendid site, well worth another visit!

We have just enjoyed five nights at Bingham Grange. This really is a delightful site, well located for local attractions - Bridport, West Bay and Burton Bradstock are all nearby and worth a visit, not to mention the local pub/restaurant a short walk across the fields. The staff were always very friendly and helpful. The site is a little quirky, but this gives it real character and adds interest, and there is plenty of wildlife to enjoy. The toilets and facilties are fine, but some could benefit from an update (as we have seen on certain other sites), but they were always clean and accessible even with the current restrictions. Overall we had a very pleasant stay, and worthy of another visit in the future.

We did not enjoy our stay here

Really disappointed. Came here because it was supposed to be peaceful and quiet. Shortly after we arrived staff began revving up very noisy garden machinery engines, repeatedly revving them over and over, whilst cutting overgrown hedges opposite our unit. It’s been an hour now and being Autistic the noise is overwhelming. I tried speaking to the staff members explaining we were only here for one night and came because it was supposed to be a peaceful haven away from it all. They said well we just want to finish this one. Then they started behind our van as well. I was clearly distressed when trying to explain that the hedges did not grow overnight and do they have to do that now because I was hoping for peace and quiet at this site. They just carried on until they were ready to stop. We won’t be coming here again. Very very disappointed. If I wanted to listen to gardening I would have stayed at home. UPDATE since posting this review on Google, whilst staying, a certain member of staff began driving past in a really noisy tractor and leaving it running by our van, driving past grinning and waving - I can only assume they were enjoying my distress as he is the same person I previously spoke to. I will be making a formal complaint to the caravan and motorhome club. An awful way to treat disabled members.

Little gem in Dorset

Nearly missed this little gem of a site (looking at some negative reviews). We had a great time at this pretty & peaceful site, with stunning countryside views. Some of the facilities needs a little updating, however the overall site is clean, the staff are very helpful & friendly. Bar / Restaurant closed due to Covid. Lovely country walk to The Pymore Inn (25/ 30 mins), Beaches 3- 4 miles. looking forward to a drink & a meal when we Covid is over. We will definitely be returning. Gordon & Jayne 10/08/20

Not up to club standards

Disappointed with site. Well below standards expected from club site. We do not have a large outfit but still found it very tight. Some lovely grass pitches but nor available to caravans. Toilet facilities poor don't think we should go down unisex route. To many users not following covid precautions . Waste water disposal and chemical waste poor and as mentioned led to smells. Some noisy users playing music late into night did not help and not what is expected on a club site. Very good location for visiting coast and Bridport a lovely town with a very good market. Potential is there if and when club upgrades to club standards. Would not use again unless improvements made.

Not up to scratch

We booked the site at the last minute due to being released from lockdown so we were grateful to get in anywhere however this site definitely needs work. The COVID protocols put in place worked very well, if you were to use the sanitary facilities you placed a wrist band on a hook to signify the facility was in use and removed it afterwards, it seemed to work well. However there are quite a few areas that do need attention, the pitches are very cramped meaning you have to park your vehicle in front of the caravan and awning, something that always seems to exacerbate the cramped feeling. The access roads are also very tight, we saw at least two units scraping hedges in an effort to avoid scraping other vehicles. There was also a distinct wafting of sewage aroma at certain times of day which made sitting outside less than pleasant! Finally, as a previous reviewer mentioned, the signage when approaching the site from either direction, was not visible until you are on top of the entrance, less than ideal. The site has potential to be really good but it will need a lot of work over several years to bring it up to the usual CAMC standards and for that reason we won’t be revisiting any time soon.

Charming and peaceful site

First time staying at a C&MC site and it was excellent. The site is charming and peaceful, the hedging breaks up the site nicely, the dog walks available on site and nearby were tranquil and convenient. The Covid restrictions weren’t too oppressive and the staff were both friendly and efficient. The toilet and shower facilities were fine and my only concern would be that after reading some of the negative reviews about club standards, I am left hoping the current charm and character of this site isn’t lost in standardisation changes.
