Disappointed

We arrived at the Bridlington (one of our favorite sites) on the 23rd December to stay for Christmas and New Year. When checking in I noticed that the shop was completely empty of everything; no milk, bread, eggs etc – the basics. I asked the warden what was happening and she said that there were only 2 of them running the site and they would be leaving on Sunday, so had to clear the shop?? We have a caravan and always bring enough essentials, but I know motor home people rely on this facility. It does say in the site details as a shop is in reception. The nearest shop is at least 1 ½ mile away. There wasn’t much sign of Christmas either, no decorations, lights etc. the wardens were very nice and apologetic but said that the Club was running a trial of only having 2 wardens?? I don’t blame the wardens at all, they as always were pleasant and helpful, but don’t think this is fair on the staff or members, we are paying top rate at this time of year and not getting top service. We specifically booked at Bridlington site as I had heard that the wardens open up the garage on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve for a get together, of course this didn’t happen. I know this is up to the wardens and they do this out of their own goodness, but again we lose out. A number of members on the site were complaining too and had planned on this happening. Having said all of this it is an excellent site, spotless (due to hard work of only 2 wardens) and great for all of the beautiful Yorkshire coast

Had a fantastic holiday

This a truly fantastic site with facilities that are hard to beat. The toilet blocks are spotless and the underfloor heating is a welcome pleasure on cold days. Plenty to do in the ara and all within close proximity. We pitched up right next to the children's play area and dog walk and our 4 year old grandsons and 2 dogs had a fantastic time - the boys in the park and the dogs on the dog walk. A perfect long weekend away and we will definitely return. Lovely friendly wardens made it a perfect holiday.

Excellent Site

Arrived on a cold windy Friday for a 2 night weekend stay. Welcome from warden was friendly and efficient. Pitches are all hard standing, all good sizes and well laid out. Toilet block is 5 star, spotless and very well heated. Only slight downside was noise from an adjacent mill, which was a little intrusive at times especially at night, but this is out of the wardens control. Site is well situated for all of the resorts along this coast, as well as for visits to York, Beverley, etc Great site in a great location.

Great time heree

I enjoyed a stay here last week - although its a pity some attractions like Burton Agnes Hall have already closed. Site was great wardens friendly - and dogs happy with the dog walk. As someone else said there were a few flies - about the most I have had this year. I am not a lover of Radio 2 in the shower block especially when the reception was terrible and it sounded like an old tinny tranny - but someone may enjoy it and I don't spend long in there anyway! Perhaps there should be a vote for our favourite channel? I would go for Classic FM - or nothing at all.

New(ish) site, and it shows:

Outstanding facilities and all hardstanding, pitches are well laid out so as to give a feeling of space. Great dog walking area and playground for the kids, the site sits between Flanborough Head and Bridlington town. The site was busy/full during our stay and coped well, maintaining a peaceful air. I'm not sure that you'd be able to say the same about Bridlington in the high season though...

Lovely site

In October when the kids are at school, this site is ideal for retirees who wish for peace and quiet. We had 3 nights and enjoyed our time here. There is plenty to do on this coast and the weather was good enough for a picnic on Fraisthorpe beach, parking is right on the edge of the sea and only £2.00. Flies were a problem, and didn't seem to respond to killer spray, just had to remember to close the fly-screens, particularly the door. Love the music in the toilet block, complainers should get a life.

nice site, but some disappointment

Several other reviews mention lots of flies, but we saw none. Perhaps the dreaded radio in the toilet block drove them away - particularly Chris Evans. How can it be considered fair to everyone with compulsory radio 2 playing all the time? If it were turned off, nobody would be upset. With it on, several are, including the flies. I like Classic FM, but when I have visitors I don't force them to listen to it. That would be rude. Good location for walking or driving around with lots to see, but if we have to stick with radios playing in the toilet block, please put a warning in the site information, then we can avoid them, leaving these sites to those who want them.

Did not know we still had seaside towns like this in the North

Oh my word what a delightful town Bridlington is. They are also trying to update it, with a 25 million sports facility on the sea front. Looks impressive be great for wet days for families. As for the site it is spotless in every way, the wardens working long hours to ensure the high standards are maintained. The site is pure luxury. The best we have stayed on by far. I had forgotten some medication so my sister posted them on, they came two days later, and he called round to tell us they had arrive as they were in my name, not the bookings name as that was partners. A big thank you for going the extra mile.  As previous posts have said the flys were a bit of a nuisance in the caravan as fly spray was next to useless. But I would think this would be down to the time of year.  Anyway we are already planning our next trip next year, there is just so much to do and there is a very pleasant walk on the coast into Bidlington, or you can take the land train from the rear of Selby House which is worth a look round, the gardens are stunning. There a a few rides on the sea front for those who like them but they are not intrusive like Blackpools are. GREAT PLACE, GREAT PEOPLE, GREAT WARDEN AND GREAT PLACE FOR YOUNG AND OLD ALIKE Just wish we could have had longer.

Bridlington Break

We stayed for 4 nights 7-11 Sept all the wardens friendly and very helpful, our initial pitch 36 provided easy access to the toilet block, we opted to move after the first night, the couple on pitch 37 with friends from 38 spent until after 11pm socializing in their awning, the distance from their awning to our motorhome was slight (we overheard every word) it would have been far better if they had gathered in the pitch 38 awning at least this was facing the friends car&caravan and their socializing would not have been as easily heard. In addition the bloke on pitch 35 drove onto the opposite recently vacated ‘serviced pitch’ 43 (early departure) and hosed his car down (unbelievable) the wardens sensitively addressed this. Next day we moved to pitch 60 and had a really splendid time, thanks to our new neighbours. This site is well run and the staff are constantly working to keep it in an immaculate condition the toilet block is superb. Advice from the warden re TV signal failure (our aerial failed) was greatly appreciated The location is ideal for access to Flamborough and nearby Sewerby Hall, the coastal pathway to Bridlington is a must. This was our third visit to this spotless site, the wardens are dedicated and keep everything in excellent condition there is no evidence of wear and tear that is evident on the mature sites.
