We have stayed at Brecon a few times over recent years and although we find the road noise intrusive, we enjoy staying in such a beautiful area. However this visit was spoilt by one of the wardens and sadly set the tone for our visit. What happened to the lovely smile and welcome we usually receive from you hard working wardens? Sadly we were met by an older lady who lacked customer service skills in every way. The site remains good for its excellent facilities. I overheard other similar comments about this lady - what a shame.
We have just returned from 3 nights at this fabulous site! The moment we arrived it just looked and felt right. It has an excellent layout with different areas so you can choose what's best for you. There are beautiful trees, plants and hedgerows all over the site and then the fields and mountains in the distance. The two toilet blocks are large and top class and as always extremely clean with plenty of showers. There is an on site shop selling most things you would need for a few days away including fresh bread and pastries each morning. Plenty of newspapers and magazines and the people running it were extremely helpful and cheerful. There is a good dog walk around the back of the site and you can even walk in 15 minutes to the pub in the local village through the paths and lane with no traffic! The play area is big and flat for the children.
We walked to Brecon along the canal path which was a lovely walk and the town has plenty to offer. There are many places to visit in the surrounding area and some of the views are just breathtaking. So all in all we had a great time. We have visited many sites and this one is definitely up there with the best. We will definitely be back, probably many times in the future.
If points out of 10 were awarded for sites, this one would get top marks.
The open location combined with medium matures trees dotted throughout make the whole site very open with a spacious feeling - and the view over to the mountains is superb. It's close proximity to the town of Brecon is a big plus.
The toilet blocks interiors and other facilities are obviously fairly new but the best I have seen in CMH sites, the club shop is a first for me and it was well stocked, run by excellent staff and a great idea.
This site is definitely the best I have stayed at!!
The levels of road noise is well documented but it would be churlish to mark it down on this - it is what it is.
Open aspect of this site and its location make this a perfect place to stay and explore the wonderful Breacon area.
Site has 2 sections to it & we stayed on the more open side close to the dog walk & shower block which made life easy & convenient.
Staff very friendly & helpful, shop well stocked and facilities well maintained.
We enjoyed being able to walk safely and easily to local village and pub with great food.
Cycling along canal to Breacon also easy & good fun.
Breacon folk club on Wed evenings really friendly too.
Highly recommend this site for ease of access, great facilities & location.
Really enjoyed the site and the area is fantastic. We go there because my wife is an artist and loves the scenery and I like the walking. The view from Pen y Fan is fantastic.
The site is as you would expect from a club site.
However we won't be going back because the constant radio in the toilets and washing up area drove us to distraction and made using them a poor experience..
Yet again this site is just perfect.. nothing is a bother to the wardens, turned up 15 mins early and no questions asked, the day after some1 actually came in at 1030 and they let them in... we was there when the farmers market was in the fields, we didn't go, as we enjoyed the sunshine by the caravan.. we are back again in Oct.. and can't wait.. we love the walk down the canal which was quite over grown tbh but still a fab walk.. see you soon
We really enjoyed our short stay at Brecon. An impressive site, clean, tidy and very manicured. It looks like about half the pitches are serviced which may be important to you. Two shower blocks, drive over motor home facilities and a commercial shop on site all add to the quality of the site.
There are lots of really good walking routes straight off the site. We walked along the tow path into Brecon, about a mile. We took the bikes in the opposite direction which is easily 40 miles and goes beyond Abergaveny if you are feeling energetic. All flat and quite well surfaced and lots of waterside pubs and cafes along its length. You should make a day of it. The area is very quiet and rural but very pretty. With good weather you will have a great holiday.
Arrived on 1/8/18 and after a long drive in hot weather with a dog my wife and I didn't spot the mistake made by a female warden when checking in on arrival. We were told to pitch on any available white peg pitch - standard with awning, when we had booked and paid for a red peg - serviced with awning hard standing. Fortunately I had only unhooked the caravan before a male warden found us and corrected the situation. Lessons learned.... Know your pegs ! Returning from an outing where we witnessed just how the summer drought is affecting local water supplies, we found unruly children wasting water by having a water fight. When entering the caravan the low water warning was on, after investigating I found my feed had been disconnected and the tap turned off. (Was this just a coincidence ???) with no proof we decided not to make a fuss. Apart from that the site is fantastic but does suffer from road noise. The dog walk is great with a stream to paddle in and a dog friendly pub at the end. Would also recommend the drive to the coast around Cardigan Bay area if the weathers nice. The onsite shop has to be one of the best stocked on the network and has everything you might need. Had a fantastic stay despite the problems mentioned will definitely be back
Had a great weekend at this site, staff members were very helpful, well stocked shop, lovely walks close by, very clean and quiet site. Will definitely be back
site is beautiful, easy to find, great location, facilities are very clean, excellent location for walking the only downside was with the staff members. Booking in seemed like too much hard work for one female warden, she didn't greet us with a smile, butted in to my conversation with my daughter as she questioned the cost difference, she was not helpful whatsoever, also informed us that we didn't have time to go to the shop as she was trying to book other people in, literally myself and my daughter were the only people in the reception. We arrived at pitch 64, after setting up We then noticed that the manhole cover had come adrift from the sewer and there were large loose hanging braches from the overhead trees, so whilst the male warden was doing his daily drive around (this is more than 5 times a day) we reported how "dangerous" the open sewer was and his attitude was that if you not happy with the pitch to move, he then returned with a couple of slab stones which in my eyes did certainly not help the situation or warn others of the danger. we then reported it the next day to a more senior caravan club manager and immediately a warden returned with cones and red warning bunting. The following day a tree surgeon arrived to review the overhanging branch situation when we left 5 days later the issues still had not been resolved and no one has updated us on the issues. Im just glad the Caravan Club Manager was walking around that day as I think that the issues would still be as they were. The wardens are supposed to be there to greet you and make your stay welcoming the 2 I have just discussed definitely did not. future advice to the wardens is to meet, greet and smile and instead of driving around maybe walk check and inspect the site and pitches - still awaiting an update on what we reported.
