Better Hardstanding
Arrived at Borrowdale for a four night stay in early September. The approach road to the site is not as bad as people make out if you are experienced and comfortable towing a caravan. The site itself is based in a wood with hardstanding . The hardstanding pitch that i was on wasnt too good as i had trouble levelling the caravan out from side to side whilst trying to also fit the wheel lock. The hardstanding was really small gravel pieces that got everywhere in the awning and caravan even when removing your shoes and this was in addition to the small seeds falling out of the trees.
The location of the site is perfect for walkers but i wouldnt suggest fetching a family as there are no facilities to entertain small children. The lack of a toilet block didnt hamper my stay but maybe i think a washing up area would be good.
if you want sun then maybe this site isnt for you as it is totally shielded by the canopy of the trees which can make it feel damp and wet.Overall a nice site but maybe not as good as most club sites but that was reflected in the price
