Weekend Getaway

Lovely quiet site set in the beautiful Bolton Abbey estate. Lovely walks from the site and well signed during Covid. Will definitely be back.

Great site, bit remote

Lovely site in a great location for exploring Bolton Abbey estate. However if you are in a motorhome its difficult to explore further afield without taking the van out. We had a car with us as well which proved invaluable. We explored Ilkley Moor, Bingley Locks, Malham and Skipton. Both pubs a bit too far away from site to get an evening meal. It's also worth pointing out that dogs have to be on a lead on the Bolton Abbey estate and are not allowed at all on Barden Moor, Simons seat or valley of desolation. . Can't fault the site for cleanliness/ staff etc

Beautiful location, and great staff.

We only stayed 2 nights, so only had one full day there. Although it was torrential rain we did a lovely circular, woodland walk along the river to Bolton Abbey. The whole area is stunning.

Lovely quiet site

Very pleasant stay in August on this small, quiet site. Beautiful location. Signage to the site could be bigger and more prominent as we nearly missed the site entrance and you wouldn't want to do that as there is nowhere to turn round! Would help if the directions/instructions included the name Strid Wood as the car park for Strid Wood is next to the entrance and the signage for this is much larger and more visible. Covid measures all worked well. Just needed better weather!!

Lovely Site

A lovely, well-maintained site with friendly staff. Mobile phone signal is non-existent so we found we had to walk away from the site to pick this up. Unfortunately, the Coronavirus lockdown was announced by the government after we'd been there one day and we had to cancel our restaurant bookings and some planned trips, so we should really return there in the future to make the most of the site and its lovely location.

Lovely site

The warden was very friendly and welcoming when we arrived on site and explained all the new Covid safe fuels very well. The facilities were kept in an immaculate condition and the queuing and wristband system was very effective. The walks along the river either towards or away from Bolton Abbey are delightful and very family friendly. There is no phone signal on site however this was ideal for us as we wanted to get away from it all. We will definitely be returning with our bikes as there are many interesting routes in the area.

New to Bolton Abbey Estate

Visited the site week commencing the 17th August. Impressed with the cleanliness of site and facilities. Wardens were very helpful. Pitch good and a nice space for our VW T6 campervan. Really enjoyed fell running up to Simon's Seat via the Valley of Desolation and cycling to Pateley Bridge. As new members to the Club, we'd recommend this site.

Disappointing

Well it started with what time you arriving can you be here for 5pm I had already read what time you could arrive which was 8pm so not sure what that was about other than we can’t work all day, which I have not asked them to do,then I got ranted at when we arrived saying I specifically told you to post your card through the letter box which I had forgotten when I had looked and you have to be a member to book and all the information was on the booking so not sure what that was all about either, told the site was full and put on a pitch where the tree dropped heavily all night thanks for that, there were a number of pitches available which were better than what we got given and still available in the morning, I did explain to the lady in question that we had had more accommodating welcomes and treatment in fact this is the first time we have been spoken to and treated like this so definitely won’t be going back again,so please read and contemplate what I have written appealing treatment

My new favourite location

I first stayed at this site during week commencing 10/08/2020 and was so taken with the location, layout, standard of upkeep and general surroundings that I decided to change my plans to try and have a few additional days here during week commencing 17/08/2020. I was having a few problems on the internet so wandered up to reception during our first stay to see if they could assist. Yvonne couldn’t have been more helpful in arranging our booking but she had also picked up on the fact that my daughter was a wheelchair user and reserved a pitch for us with a little more room than most which was still adjacent to the facilities. We are here now and the pitch allocated is superb with the additional room available making such a difference to ease of use of my daughters wheelchair. We are relatively new to Motorhome use having owned our rig for around a year now. We joined the club at the outset and have found all site staff encountered so far to be very good in all they do but the staff here are truly exceptional and we thank you for our latest stay. We’ll be back soon.

Peaceful and picturesque Bolton Abbey

We booked 3 nights 9-12th Aug hoping for a relaxing stay. We were not disappointed, in fact we felt overjoyed at being able to experience the ambiance of Bolton Abbey CMC . On arrival at 1pm it was very busy with quite a few units waiting to book in . However, it was dealt with calmly and efficiently by Lawrence and Yvonne. If you love wildlife this is the place to visit . Squirrels ,ducks ,chaffinches, nuthatches, mistle thrush and a kingfisher was just a few of the abundance of wildlife that we saw. If you want a feeling of calmness in a peaceful setting this is the place to be . We loved it ! We took plenty of alternative walks along “The Strid” perfect for our well being . There is a bus stop opposite the site with a service that runs Mon Wed and Fri to Grassington . Be aware it is a mini bus that currently seats a maximum of 8 people. The roads past the site towards a Grassington are not really suitable for a motorhome they are very narrow in places with few passing points. We Are were so pleased that we decided to leave the motorhome on site. COVID reg was well explained around the site with a handy welcome pack as well. We felt as safe as being at home. Social distancing was not a problem at any time. Will we return ? Without a doubt . Looking forward to booking another stay in the Autumn/ Spring .
