Great small site, will be back!

Stayed here for 1 night en-route home from the Lakes. Entrance archway pretty tight 😨 and long road up to the site ( we thought we had gone wrong following Sat Nav) , but well worth it! The QR Code maps didn't work as there was no phone/wi-fi signal, so I recommend to take a picture of the map to refer to as you walk around the marked routes etc... Site shop had run out of most things, Bread, Milk etc.. but probably just bad luck as we arrived on Bank Holiday Monday? Myself, Wife and dog loved the site, nice small dog walk with wood chips underfoot, all area's clean and tidy. Could do with a few more hooks in Showers as stools have been removed, I believe due to Covid? Nice site and people, we will be back mid-week when not so busy, for the peace and quiet and lovely walks. Thanks! 😀😀🐕

Peaceful & relaxing break

Our first visit here but definitely will not be our last. Beautifully kept site set in woodland with very easy access to the river with walks in all directions. Wardens were friendly and helpful, pitches well set out and a nice little dog walk which sufficed for "quick breaks". Facilities were well maintained albeit a wobbly shower head in the gents showers, covid management in place and generally (but not by all) were adhered to, its not difficult to understand, put a wrist band on a hook when you go and put it back in the container when you come out! If there are no wrist bands in the container do not go in!! Didn't use the shop, check in swift and efficient. Great food at the Red Lion at Burnsall, put it on your list of places to eat.

Amazing place of natural beauty

As a child I spent many hours at Bolton abbey, so as an adult and a caravan owner it was only natural I'd want a nice long weekend here revisiting my childhood. I was not disappointed. The site is beautifully maintained, its quiet and peaceful with wildlife trotting on by. Check in was easy, and covid safe. The wardens were lovely, friendly and infact went above and beyond by reopening the shop after hours so I could get supplies. The pitches were as expected at a camc site. Their is no phone reception or internet on site, unless you buy the camc WiFi. The walking routes are amazing and you can walk from site to the Abbey along the waters edge in less than an hour. Be aware that if you are going, and planning on driving that you need to prebook your car park and its £12.50 for the day. There is a cafe just out of the site but we didn't go so I can't comment on what they have. Other shops, cafes along the route to the Abbey are quite busy and expensive. All in all the Bolton Abbey Estate is definitely a place to visit. I will definitely be back. Thanks again to the wardens, I'm so sorry I didn't take down their names for special thanks!

Above and Beyond

My Wife and I recently visited the Bolton Abbey club site, and whilst there I had the misfortune to suffer a rather nasty mountain bike accident (off site). Without going into detail, I would like to publicly say a huge THANK YOU to the Site Wardens  -  Laurence and Yvonne  -  who definitely entered the ‘above and beyond’ category in their care and assistance to us, during my enforced extended convalescent stay. In respect of normal circumstances, Laurence and Yvonne maintain the Bolton Abbey site to exceptional standards, and together with their cheery persona, are both a credit and a huge asset to the Club. I am looking forward to a return under ‘normal’ personal circumstances. Paul Kissack  ‪23247733 ‬

So relaxing.

What a return. We haven't been to this lovely site for about four years. when we entered the site it looked just the same as how we remembered apart from the presence of a site manager standing in the rain marshalling arrivals for Covid safety regulations. This was Lawrence who gave us a very warm welcome and clear instructions of how to proceed with booking in. I then went into the Reception and it still looked the same as years ago a bit tired and drab ( a change of color wouldn't go amiss). but it soon brightened up with the presence of Yvonne and her very friendly approach, so cheerful and welcoming. We then went to our pitch(28) .This was where we had stayed before. All the pitches looked immaculate and some have been made larger than they used to be providing plenty of room for all. If you like wildlife then this is the site for you. It is obvious that Lawrence and Yvonne have put so much work into this site. spotlessly clean and it looks like Yorkshire has over spilled right back into the site. Displaying the fantastic local drystone walls and little glimpses of the outside countryside reaching into the site. This is due to the sensible management of the surrounding vegetation. undertaken by Lawrence. How they manage to do all this work without assistants, I do not know! However, a fantastic visit and we left so relaxed . Can't wait to go back. petty about the paint job in reception, it's one of the first things you see.( maybe a lighter, brighter color like sage or something similar my suffice. Just our opinion.

A Warm Welcome

We stayed at the site on the 12th of April for 4 nights just after some of the restrictions were lifted. The site was very well maintained and the wardens were actively going about additional covid cleaning routine. We found the wardens very welcoming and always happy to chat, they were very helpful with lots of info on the local area. They also had a good technical knowledge and spent time helping people who had some of the usual early season van issues. I think the wardens wife must have had a tracker on him because if he spent too much time in one place chatting the radio soon sprang into life with have done Xyz yet, which always made us smile. A great place to stay well run with great walks close by, we loved it.

Pretty and well laid out site but a few niggles

Stayed here for 6 nights in April 2021. Glorious weather which made this site even prettier and we enjoyed the visiting wildlife, including a deer standing behind our outfit. The staff team were warm and welcoming, despite having to cope with Covid rules and regulations. We didn't use the toilet or shower facilities so cannot comment. We were concerned that not all site users were observing the Covid rules. We noticed several large groups exceeding the Rule of 6 and some of these were inside awnings. Unfortunately the real niggles were around dogs - or more to the point, their owners. The site has a really good dog walk. Its not very long but well kept and absolutely perfect for early morning and late nights and our dogs were very grateful for it. There are numerous dog waste bins on site, which sadly were ignored by some owners and on two occasions, we had to pick up other people's dog mess whilst walking our dogs. The site ruling of a lead being no longer than 2 meters was also sometimes ignored, especially where flexi leads were used and also it would appear that some owners are unable to read or understand the signage which stated all dogs to be on leads at all times. Some owners totally ignored this on the dog walk. One further point to consider, if screaming children are not your idea of peace and quiet, then you need to pick the days of your stay and aim for the weekend. The site is next door to a school and due to the good weather, the students were encouraged to be outside. Self expression is encouraged at this type of education facility...be warned !

Quietest campsite ever stayed at.

We were grateful for all the help and advice upon arrival by the wardens. They helped us decide on the best plot for us, which turned out to be perfect. They were very friendly and helpful throughout our weeks stay when we had the most perfect weather. It has to be said that this is the quietest site at night that we have ever stayed at in five years of caravanning. The location is great for seeing wildlife and lambs, which at this time of year are everywhere. We very much enjoyed the walks with our dog from the camp site and around the Dales. Our only negative was that it would be nice to have a small area somewhere where we could let the dog off the lead to play with a ball.

Great as ever

My only Caravan and Motorhome booking for this year: 2 nights from October 22nd to 24th - but it is one of my favourite sites so I was very glad to be able to get booked on before the end of the season. I was curious as to what to expect given current times: less busy than sometimes but superbly run. Facilities immaculate as ever and a very good system in place for the toilet and shower block - so long as you didn’t have a mental aberration on exit (Me!!) and forget to take your band off the pegs on the way out. Yvonne was very accepting of my profuse apologies! Thank you, Yvonne! These guys work their socks off to keep the site immaculate and Covid-safe making it possible for me and others to have a couple of days away from the relentlessness of the present. Thank you very much from a very grateful Motor-homer!
