Hi...Just been to the Blackshaw site for a few days...marvellous place.
We were totally surprised by the area ...never been to the region before ..our journey to the site via Buxton from Chesterfield was a total feast of views.
We arrived on site to be met by Emma who was so helpful ..the pitches were mostly level and well drained ,gravel,..some had recently been refurbished.
We got a pitch by the dog walk ..this had recently been overlaid with bark and the Jack Russell loved to push his nose everywhere.
We asked about the local 'eating' pubs that take dogs and were pointed to the 'Lazy Trout'..couple of miles away at Meerbrook...lovely menu and food and we were made welcome with the dog...so were about another 6 owners.
We walked the Lake at Titteshaw and this was most joyful with plenty of birdlife ...not too strenuous but a few hills in places.
We thought we had blown the overload fuse on our pitch but it turned out that our internal fuse was the culprit...Anthony on site was most helpful to sort it tho'.
All the toilets and showers were immaculate, clean and fresh and next time we will definitely use the excellent 'dog wash' facilities
Locally the area is enchanting...we went to the 'Hollybush 'pub and were surprised to find it had TWO canals by the side and excellent menu ..
All in all a great three nights...we will be back for possibly a week next time ...so much to see

Lovely winter break
We have just returned from 5 nights at Blackshaw Moor and we had a lovely stay. The wardens were all very friendly, the site was immaculate at all times as were the showers. We had a lovely pitch at the top which had lots of space. Perfect for exploring the area, including Rudyard Lake, Tittesworth and the fabulous Lazy Trout In. My only real negatives were the road noise but I think this was mainly because of the time of year and the trees not providing any screening, and the dog walk, which was very wet and partially covered in wood chippings that my dogs didn't actually like walking on! Apart form that it was great!
Ideal weekend break
Just returned from a weekend break at Blackshaw Moor, we only live half an hour away from the site and this was ideal for a quick getaway for the weekend, Tittensworth reservoir well worth a visit and a walk around the waters and I can definitely recommend the Lazy Trout Inn in Meerbrook but it's advisable to pre book your table as it does get busy. Great food, good real ales and great value all within walking distance from the site. The site is up to the usual caravan club standards showers not as powerful as some site and you will need to give it a couple of minutes for the hot water to come through. Had a great stay and weekend and definitely be returning.
Great First Outing
Arrived on the Friday opening day and were met with a warm welcome from the wardens and regional manager. We were at the back on the higher pitches with great views over The Roaches.
Filled up over the weekend but the facilities were always clean and tidy with little signs of use.
Great site in a fantastic area with numerous walking options straight from the site.
Leek is only a short drive away for any provisions.
All in all, a great first trip out, despite the heavy snow across the top of the Peaks on Sunday.
Super Site in Great Location
Just stayed for 5 nights. The site is really well kept, clean and spacious. The site benefits from being tiered and so feels small. We had a pitch at the top of the site with a great view of the rocky outcrop of Hen Cloud. The wardens work hard to keep the site clean and tidy. It is a credit to them.
As it is close to the main Leek to Buxton road there is some road noise as might be expected but at the top of the site it is not intrusive. The road has the advantage of easy access to the local area. Leek is only a few minutes away as is Tittiesworth reservoir.
This is a great location for exploring the Staffordshire moorlands. There is excellent walking from the site. The area around the Roaches and Ramshaw Rocks can be explored from the site by walking down the road a short distance to Upper Hulme.
Lovely last minute stay
The best caravan club site ive been to. Imaculate facilities, lovely stuff and wonderful walk sfrom sit. Good pub closeby to walk to,what more do you want?
Friendly and relaxed
Our first time to Blackshaw Moor, we found the staff to be extremely helpful. Our pitch required very little levelling and was close to amenities - waste, water, recycling and toilets. A short walk away was The Three Horseshoes which had a variety of ales on tap with friendly staff. Facilities were clean and tidy but the road running to the back of our pitch was noisy throughout the night. With choice, we would have avoided this pitch but it was fine for one night only. Should we be passing again we would definitely revisit.

Blackshaw
A very clean and tidy site, friendly and helpful staff. We made a mistake in choosing a pitch right alongside the A53 in that it was noisy during the daytime, however much quieter at night. Sufficient lighting at night to find the toilet block if needed. Handy for Leek and surrounding area and lovely for rides out over the moors.
