We have stayed on some very nice sites over the years but this one is definitely one of the best.
the wardens are super friendly and helpful the site is very clean and tidy, yes it is on a main road but we were far enough away from it not to be a problem.
There was a music festival on the Saturday night with loud music on until late BUT it wasn't a problem for us as we sat outside the caravan with a few beers and listened to the music.
We will be staying there again and will make it one of our favourite go to sites for a short weekend.
Peaceful Break
Our first visit to the site - we parked our MH in the centre pitches to avoid the main road and the noise did not bother us. Nice little site, good facilities, drying room very useful!
We choose here for walking, but the weather was not in our favour and we did not get to walk up to the Roaches as we felt the main road was too busy to go up. We did get to walk round the reservoir which was lovely and stopped at the last trout Pub in the little village next to it.
The maps provided in reception were not easy to follow and put us off going further a field on an adventure.
We also walked into Leek - there is a footpath next to the road - bit overgrown in places but at least you are off the road - took us about an hour.
Bank Holiday break
Lovely site staff very friendly and welcoming all time we were there, very clean and tidy. Also a great little dog walk wood through wooded area shower block clean. Great pub 5mins walk from site and great views from garden area and the location of site is great to.
We have already booked to go back next May.
Great site, great wardens
Been a member of Caravan Club for 7 years and this is the first review I have left. Not because I have been in any way disappointed by previous sites, exactly the opposite but because what makes me say I will definitely be back to this site is the wardens, Keith and Tracy. Friendly and helpful as most wardens are but the difference came on the morning when we were leaving - or trying to leave. Car problems meant we had to call the AA, but having told Keith we may have to stay a bit late and why, Keith and Tracy's heads went together to try to work out who was on site who could help us, while still cleaning and booking in new arrivals. Sorted, AA cancelled and delay minimised. Many thanks to Keith and Tracy for saving our bank holiday Monday.

small well kept site
lovely clean small site , I would imagine the shower block would get busy if the site was full as there are limited facilities , the wardens are very friendly and very accomadating and my little girl especially enjoyed the treasure hunt on site with the reward of a small prize at the end , at the front of the site I believe the main road can be a bit noisy but as we were on the back / top of the site it was barley noticeable my wife enjoyed the herb pot by the reception and i enjoyed her cooking with them , overall a lovely relaxing break and would definitely recommend it to our friends

Good location for walking
This site provides a great base for walking in southern Peak District and surrounding areas. Yes, the road is noisy but you soon tune that out. Pitched in the lower level which was left uncrowded probably due to comments in other reviews.
Staff here were very friendly and helpful with with pitching and local information. Facilities clean and tidy. Staff spending lots of time on the maintenance of the grounds which I imagine must feel like painting the Forth Bridge!
A very welcoming site I would recommend to those wishing to explore the great outdoors.
Really good for touring the area
As others have said the site is on a slope and the lower tier is near to a main road so park at the top (if you can). The site is very well kept and current staff very nice and helpful. We use it as a base for going to local places of interest.

Sloping site
Ok it's in the Peak District which is hilly and the site is the same. If you don't want road noise stay away from the road and haul your caravan up the hill for some lovely peace and quiet. We stayed near the top on a spacious end pitch not too far from the facilities.
The facilities at the top of the hill were fairly limited with only 2 showers per gender so we imagine they must get pretty busy during peak times. But they are kept clean and fresh.
Hard standing pitches only.
We were only here for 3 nights so didn't get around to see much apart from Bakewell which was delightful - and the original Bakewell pudding was delicious.
great stay
great 4 day stay, site is immaculate, staff are really lovely and helpful. a lot of the pitches seem bigger than most which is nice. Only gave score of three for "peace and quiet" because we were at the bottom of the site near the road, got used to it after a bit, and it was a lovely grassy pitch, plenty of room for the dog.
