I just read some seemingly very unfair reviews of this site, so felt I had to leave one. On arriving at the site we had an issue with our jockey wheel clamp, 2 very helpful wardens immediately came to help and provided us with a new clamp. The check in was easy and fine and the site was immaculately kept. There were only 2 allowed in the toilet blocks at a time which worked fine during our long weekend and it’s hardly a site issue blame the pandemic, I never waited more than a few minutes for the blocks. All facilities very clean and well maintained, nice area some lovely walks nearby, would definitely return.
Could be a nice site but currently it's not!
We stayed for 2 nights in July, it was our 3rd stay in a CC site post-lockdown so we knew what to expect, or so we thought. We arrived at 12.45 as my emails had conflicting information on check in time (12pm & 1pm) and I couldn't get through to the site to confirm. We joined a queue of 10 or so motorhomes and caravans and the warden made the point of asking if we knew what time it was as we were early. He didn't say anything to anyone else in the queue so we felt somewhat picked on. The check in was done via a window that was ajar with a 2 inch gap at the bottom so it was impossible to hear what was being said and I had to keep asking the staff to repeat themselves. The toilet block is dated, although the showers are hot and powerful. As mentioned by other reviewers, only 2 toilets were open for a site of 87 pitches which was fully booked. The note on the 2nd toilet block said it was because of increased cleaning time but they are operating a 25% toilet block capacity so how can they not have time to clean the 2nd block?! Sounds a bit like an excuse. The queues for the toilets were terrible and having no on-board facilities, we found this very stressful.
The location of the site is okay, very close to the main road but there is a nice pub 5 minute walk away. You can walk to the Roaches from site which we did, it is a lovely walk. I would advise against walking to Tittesworth Reservoir and would drive instead as the walk is on a fast bendy road with no pavement and with a dog it is extremely dangerous. There's not much greenery on site which is a shame, I'm not sure I'd stay again but it was a good location for walking to the Roaches which we enjoyed.

Good area site lacking rules
Stayed here 9 nights in July. Wardens really friendly booking in through an open window a bit strange though. Like the previous reviewer site is very barren in places best pitches are where the traffic noise is the worse. I also agree not sure why only one toilet block open but I don’t agree that the toilets were dirty very clean I thought. Rules on site a bit lax kids on bikes riding on pavements, through other pitches, bloke with tv on very loud outside his van on a table until 10pm no one could sit out for the noise from it, not sites fault but a warden was walking about near it never said anything. Wrist band worked well, but other users thought it was ok to nip in to the loo if the 2 allowed in were in the shower that again is not the wardens fault bad manners on the people who thought this was ok. However not be staying again ever!!
Like staying in a grey car park and grossly undercatered on facilities
Shame - this site has virtually no grass. Our 'pitch' was in a grey area of hard standing. Nowhere pleasant to sit, literally like pitching in a car park. As for the facilities - someone has massively misunderstood the covid rules and leaving just 2 loos for the whole site (one of which was out of order!) and shutting them for two hours a day (!) is just downright unacceptable. We were in Charmouth the week before and all the facilities were available, as they should be. No price reduction in light of the lack of facilities is daylight robbery. The shower block is very dated and grubby in any case. The whole place needs a revamp. They shut the water off with no warning one day as well. Looks like the Site Inspector hasn't paid this one a visit for a while. Avoid avoid.

Another nice stay......but...
We stayed here for the 3rd time and once again enjoyed the site. Apart from being a nice site in itself, it is a good base for visiting the local area. My only criticism concerns the arrangements for complying with the Coronavirus requirements. As mentioned by a previous reviewer, the upper toilet block was closed; only two people were allowed in the entire lower toilet/shower block at any time, which meant that if two people were showering, no one could use the loos! I also noticed that there were no additional hand sanitisers round the site, (apart from one by the office). This contrasts with our visit to Fakenham Racecourse the previous week, where they had all facilities open and lots of sanitisers around the place. Obviously the wardens were simply doing what the Club had deemed appropriate, but if you are going to reduce the facilities by half and then reduce the number who can actually use the remaining facilities as well, it is going to have an impact. I note that there was no price reduction!
Great local site
This is fast becoming one of our favourite site close to home yet feels a million miles away. This is a lovely site set againt the back drop of the Roaches and the Peak District its a must for walkers. The site is well run and check in is easy obviously precautions are in place due to Covid-19 no visitors are allowed on site and the shop on site is not open however Leek is a 5 minute drive with a large Lidl and Aldi in town. My only recommendation would be to open the top shower/toilet block the site was full the weekend we stayed and ques were forming for toilets etc or have one block for showers as this takes longer and one block for toilets other than that we will be visiting again
October Half Term away
A wet October half term away in the Peak District. The site was very clean and a lot of space between pitches. We were on number 70. Although there wasn't many Children about our boys managed to have a great time. The Wardens were possibly the most helpful and welcoming we have meet to date. A great base for Monsel and Tissington Trail's, Dove Dale and the local reservoir's for walks and bike rides.
Great recommendation on the italian in town Prima Piano possibly one of best meals out in ages.
Enjoyed the area and site so much we've booked again for next year, as there is lots to see and do.
A wet weekend away!!
A long weekend away in rural Staffordshire.... unfortunately the weather was not at its best, BUT the site had a laundry and drying room to ensure our walking gear was clean and dry.... plentiful hot water in the very modern, beautifully clean washrooms.
There is also a pot washing area enclosed to the elements.
Emma and John (the wardens) and the assistant wardens were welcoming, professional and informative about the area, walks, places to eat and shops within the vicinity, as well as suitable parking places for the motorhome.
Would definitely recommend a visit and will be returning ourselves!!
Great site highly recommended
Just left Oct 1st after 8 night stay pitch #70
Despite rain most days fully enjoyed ourselves
We have stayed here many times and never had any issues
The wardens and assistant wardens could not be better, helpful and very pleasant .
Dog walk onsite very good and the addition of a dog wash facility made things so much easier in the awning with just a wipe down of feet required keeping everywhere clean
Location near the water park great and the Cafe & shop really nice, great dog walks and family areas.
We used the disable toilets which like everywhere was immaculate .
Will visit again

Lovely Site with Great Wardens
After a very friendly and informative welcome by Keith and Tracey, who are always willing, to go the extra mile to make members stays more enjoyable. We pitched at the top of the site because the main road can be a bit noisy at times, but was not to disturbing for us. The site is very well kept and we had a lovely walk around Tittersworth reservoir.
Keith and Tracey are a credit to the Club and we look forward to visiting them on another site in the future.
