Easter family get away
We visited this site with our two young grandchildren for an Easter weekend break.
The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site is well laid out and spacious all the pitches seem large.
The ground is very hard if you are putting an awning up, I bent 3 rock pegs.
Small play area in centre of park, not great for very small children but adequate for those a little older.
2 toilet blocks both spotless. Laundry and washing up facilities also great. Water and waste water along with rubbish and recycling facilities scattered around the site so never too far to go to fill up or empty.
As others have mentioned there is some road noise, it's not to loud but it is constant day and night.
Good supply of books and dvd's to loan.
Grand daughter was very excited to be given an activity book and a treasure trail guide. She was even more excited after completing the trail to be given a prize by the wardens.
Pleasant surprise to find a fish and chip van visits Saturday evening.
Short walk down main road to a nice pub that serves food and decent beer.
Although the Caravan Club is no longer our first choice when looking for sites, this is solely down to its price increases putting it in competition with sites with more facilities. We would happily recommend this site to others and would return ourselves.
Spacious well laid out site.
Recently returned from a long weekend at this site. It was our first visit. We were impressed with the spacious layout and with the pitches being on different levels all had views. The wardens were welcoming and friendly and the site was spotlessly clean. We were on a fully serviced pitch and initially went onto no 71, however our water hose wasn’t long enough to reach the van from the tap. Fortunately no 70 was free so problem solved. But worth bearing in mind for the future. The down side for us was the dog walking. Dogs had to be on the lead on the dog walk, the reservoir was only 1 mile away but the walk to it was on a busy road without a pavement and the wardens advised against walking there. We drove and paid £3 to park only to find that dogs had to be on a lead although I appreciate this may just have been the time of year. Likewise with the Roaches, Although free to park on the road. We then discovered Brough park which was dog friendly but a 3 mile drive away. However, despite this we will visit again as the site is very good and it didn’t spoil an enjoyable weekend. The Lazy trout pub at Meerbrook is well worth a visit but booking is essential. The Reform Inn is also good and both are dog friendly.
All necessary facilities are provided
We enjoyed our second short stay at Blackshaw Moor. The location is great for visiting the Roaches and surrounding National Park. The walking and scenery is spectacular. The main road is not really a problem and does provide really easy access to the site. As expected the site is well maintained and all necessary facilities are provided. Arrival was hindered by the 12 o'clock rule. We arrived about 11.45, by 12.00 four more guests had arrived. This always results in us all following each other around the site, then waiting for each Motor home to fill with water, etc. I know it a club rule but it is an avoidable delaying issue. The £10 daily fee is somewhat misleading. If you only stay midweek and travel alone then it is possible. A couple staying at the weekend will pay £30. I think the more relevant price should be displayed. I still wonder if £30 is good value for parking and Ehu. It is getting very close to b&b and some hotel rooms. I am concerned that Blackshaw Moor offers no paricular additional value and yet is charging premium commercial rates. Anyway, some may not be concerned at this years increased prices.
This is a lovely place to stay
We recently stayed here for 4 nights. It was lovely and peaceful, although there was some traffic noise for the pitches nearest the road. The wardens are doing a fantastic job maintaining the site and facilities. They are really helpful and friendly and keen to help make sure that guests enjoy their stay. The surrounding countryside is stunning with great opportunities for walks and cycling. Highly recommended.

We will be back!
We stayed at this lovely site from 14th March 2019 for 8 nights having travelled up from Sussex.
The wardens were welcoming, helpful, always cheerful and a credit to the club.
It was our first visit to the Peak District and we had a lovely view looking across to the Roaches, a large wind-carved outcrop of gritstone rocks, from our caravan - a taster of the week ahead.
The four staff must have worked incredibly hard in the four weeks prior to the March opening as the pitches and grounds were immaculate and the toilet blocks spotless.
The dog walk had even been treated to a goodly layer of wood chippings which kept mud at bay.
Thank you Blackshaw Moor
Fabulous Site
This was a first time visit for us and first time using our trailer. The wardens were really friendly and helpful. My husband is totally blind, so they gave us a pitch that wasn’t too far from the toilet block and the disabled shower room, which worked perfectly for us. The facilities were excellent and very clean, and the site was peaceful. There was a bit of road noise from the adjacent road but it didn’t disturb us. We will definitely be visiting again.
Highly recommend
First time on the camp and first time ever camping !
The staff made us feel so welcome and basically held our hand as newbies. Lovely lovely people that made our stay excellent and enjoyable.
Can recommend the Three horseshoes across the road for a meal.
Lovely clean site, great staff, great location will definitely return and recommend. Thankyou 👍
We stayed on this site for six nights from 16th March.
We arrived on Sat 16th March after travelling over from Ireland. The welcome we received from the warden team was second to none. They were so friendly and helpful and went about their daily duties with a cheery wave for all site residents. Keep up the good work Guys your the best.
