Great site, great staff

Having previously stayed at this site, we were quite surprised to read the recent reviews but let me assure you that this site is clean, tidy, with lovely staff on site. We have just had the BH weekend there with friends and had a fabulous weekend. As we live in England with seasons where the trees, bushes and grass grows accordingly, it must be extremely difficult to keep it cut to perfection and weed free, for those that may be able to do that with their own gardens, but on this busy site, it is done well. I have no hesitation in recommending this site for families and friends. Keep up the good work guys and thanks for a great weekend.

Southport

We used this site along with another couple to visit Southport flower show (We had not been on three weeks before Christmas to book Southport site) I digress. We arrived just after our friends and booked in we were told which pitches were avaliable and went to find one. we thought it was O.K. until days later when someone left the site at between 0615.and 0630 I thought I was there for a break!!! Other than that it was a good break a little noisy from the main road .the pitches could do with a good weeding but the staff did tell use the wind was preventing them from spraying. Not a bad site easy run into Blackpool if that is your thing but easy access to the Fylde District and surrounding area.

Needs a facelift and some TLC

We have been visiting this site for a good few years and it was our 3rd trip in 2017 last weekend. The pitches are full of weed and this is the first time I have seen this. The washrooms were grubby and the showers had tide marks in them where they should surely have been cleaned daily. The washing up room drains smell. The site has 4 wardens and 3 are excellent. One male warden however does not do the club or the site justice. We parked on an awning pitch and the unit next door had a huge awning which took up a lot of room, encroaching on to our area. We were only there for 2 nights so I didn't complain and parked my car on the door side of the caravan (on the chippings). We had settled down for the evening and got a knock on the door. The warden then gave me chapter and verse about parking and when I pointed out that the neighbouring caravan awning was like a marquee he just shrugged his shoulders and told me to park in front of our caravan. I did this and within half an hour had to move it twice to let others park their caravans! I wasn't the only one who had been on the receiving end of this wardens dictator like attitude. I wanted to give as good back as I received but my wife asked me not to and that is why I am sharing my experience with you. If this individual spent as much time weeding and cleaning rather than posturing and sharing his ego, maybe Blackpool South would return to its former glory.

Airshow weekend 2017

Just had great weekend at blackpool soutb, wardens were very helpful, friendly and efficient. Park well maintained and not to far from the attractions. Good transport links not too far away.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED

We have been members of the club for 26 years. We have just returned from the site after 2 weeks, our previous visit being September 2016, WHAT A DIFFERENCE. I am afraid the photograph on the site page is well out of date and that is not the site one visits now. There has been absolutely NO ground maintenance work carried out, the hedges, bushes and whatever else is growing up through, i.e. fruit bushes are a disgrace. The white stones on the hardstanding was always an attraction as, even on a miserable day, it cheered things up but the amount and size of weeds now growing and being left on these is unbelievable. Several pitch posts are nearly covered by the height and amount of weeds growing in and around. The grass on the site and particularly between and behind the caravans is covered in clover and when sitting out, and in particular, if dogs are tied up there, it is certainly not relaxing to watch the dogs jump up in an attempt to catch the well known "Queen" bees which were in abundance. On arrival yes, all looks fine as one of the female wardens was regularly seen planting up bedding plants in bags which hung around the entrance and in front of the toilet block. Given the amount of visits by us over a 30 year period and continually returning is testament of what we thought of this, what I often described as a "beautiful" site and highly recommended it but having paid over £300 really for the use of a "tired", as already described in another review, toilet and shower block and electricity daily for a few hours only, it is certainly not worth staying there now. I had a lengthy conversation with the Senior Warden and pointed out all these issues to him. He listened and was very polite to me but without going into detail he pointed out to me that he is at the bottom of the ladder and would be the last to know what is going on at the site. One point he made was that he had not to cut the grass below 2.1/2 inches and that was an order from above. However, that very day while we were out the grass behind our van was cut. As already mentioned being dog owners involves a lot of walking and locally we were advised that the council is hoping to build 280 houses in the field behind the site. An owner of a home in that area had been offered a price for his house some time ago and just minutes from the front gate of the site there is a house for sale with "Development Opportunities" for possibly 7 houses BUT this was refused due to insufficient access route. Is there something the CAMHC are not letting members know that this site may not be around in the near future and it is being run down and into a state of disrepair. If that is the case the fees should be adjusted accordingly for those still wishing to stay there. The Scottish school holidays had just commenced while we were there and due to the vacant pitches I asked the warden how busy it was and he said it was picking up and about 60%.

Not kid friendly

We arrived late and found the site closed and no late arrivals pitch. We turned up the next morning and were told "you should have parked in the lane round the corner" - why is there no sign saying this?? We were then turned away and told to come back after 12 - disgusted as the place was half empty! We came back later on and got settled in. My son (7) went to go to the toilet with the key he had been given by reception only to find the locks are too high for kids to open the doors - NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY! Why would a family organisation lock kids out of the toilets? Why would the toilets be kept locked? Avoid if travelling with smaller children would be my advice.

Great site pity about Blackpool.

Went for a short weekend break with the kids. Site was super easy to find, lady on reception really nice and friendly. Surprisingly the site was really quiet, so loads of choice when choosing a pitch. We found a spot by the playground, it is close to the motorway but you barely even notice the traffic noise. Toilet blocks were all clean and as expected. We used the disabled shower and its great, possibility the best one we've used. There is a huge Asda 5 minutes away, which was handy as I'd forgotten my son's socks. I can't fault the site it was fab. But as for Blackpool itself. You think know what to expect, typical seaside cheese. In all honesty it was awful, full of stag and hen doos. People falling over in the street at 2pm, we even witnessed 2 men openly taking poppers in the street. Try explaining that to a 6 year old! Some friends have told us they went to the illuminations and it sounds like it was worse. Loved the site but avoid Blackpool.

Another enjoyable stay at Blackpool South

We stayed for 5 nights, it's only one hour from home and very easy to get too for a short trip. As always a friendly welcome from the wardens, toilet block clean and presentable, even though it could do with a refurb. Lots of places to visit in the area, bus into Blackpool, a short drive to St Annes, we liked the Bell and Bottle for a good meal about 6 miles away in Kirkham. I cannot believe a member in a previous review was blaming the warden because he didn't leave something on his pitch to show it was occupied. It is standard practice and only takes a minute too leave a table or something. I would be annoyed if I set my caravan up and then discovered someone else was on the pitch, it's not up to the warden. We will look forward to returning soon.

Great weekend

Stayed for a weekend as we wanted a quick weekend away no more than 50 miles from home. Site was dead easy to find, check-in was quick and the two ladies in reception were very friendly. Pitches were large and separated by low hedges which gave some privacy. As others have said, not the prettiest of sites, but I guess you don't come to Blackpool expecting a pretty site! Only downside is that there's nothing nearby to walk to. We will definitely stay again for a weekend break,

Nice site but...

In a decent location just outside the busy part of Blackpool, quite a bit of noise from the roadside and kids playing. The main problem I had was the staff do not in any form log which pitch you are on so if you do not mark your peg if nipping out they will happily let someone set up there even though they have given you the keys to that pitch! There was no mention of this on the welcome and I simply got told by a smug male member of staff "well it's in the rules". I found this attitude and response unhelpful, and requested that in future they tell people that if they leave their pitch to mark it. Facilities were fine and clean. Security was good. Not the most visually pleasant site, all hard standing. Would probably stay again but would hope they update their booking in system to bring it in line with the 21st century!
