An ok site

Spent a long week here with my hubby and 2 kids 10 & 7yr olds, the first thing that hit us was the smell from the pig farm next door it was stomach churning. We didn’t spend time on the site as we were up and out first thing and not back till late however the wardens were very friendly and helpful. The facilities are clean and up to the clubs perfect standers. We did do the treck to the bus on the first morning which took 25 minuets which is not fun with kids this cost £6.70 when we asked the bus driver about return we were told that the last bus back would be 7pm so we would not have been able to see the lights.Just by chance we got a taxi who have a deal with the site that it costs £8/£10(sorry I lost the card and can’t give the name but sure the wardens have the number)Because of where we were pitched it was very open and while we were out on the Saturday our awning was caught by the wind and came partly down however a VERY kind fellow camper repeged it for us(who this was we do not know although we asked around the site)

Blackpool October half term 2017

This site was somewhat disappointing in that its close to Blackpool but nowhere near an accessible bus stop. Surrounded by main roads with no footpaths and in busy periods difficult to get a taxi. Site is pretty basic but functional, park for the kids is very bog standard and has no area for ball games. Wardens were polite and pleasant. The dog walk is pretty awful and is like walking round a household waste disposal site!! Traffic noise is high and annoying with boy racers!! Older style toilet blocks but we're very clean and warm. To say your in Blackpool a place very much associated with fun it's pretty disappointing and we will not be visiting again soon!

'Curate's egg' site

Site managers very friendly and welcoming. Even remembered me from last year! Site needs some upgrades. Ditto weeds as mentioned before, water taps few and far between. Starred 3 above due to facs, but cleanliness 5 stars. Stayed there is half term weekend along with cyclone and many families. In that driving rain and howling wind, it was not pleasant undertaking the long hike the length of the hardstanding area and around back to the facs when a cut-through the dividing hedge would have been a lot more accommodating. It could be marked out with bushes as a between-pitch path as one often sees in France.. As a motorhomer, the bus service is not accommodating with very few buses coming any closer than the Tesco which is quite a hike along busy road where there's no footpath. And a taxi is expensive if there's just one of you. Blackpool 'could do better'.

Great Break

We spent a few nights over half term on this site. It's a great location for Blackpool with the site having a fixed price tariff with a local taxi firm which made visiting the area really easy and at a reasonable cost. The wardens couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. On the morning that we left, we woke up to our whole pitch under a few inches of water. As we had no awning up it was not an issue to us and we told the wardens so. However they proceeded to spend the next half hour sweeping the water away ready for us to hook up. This really was above and beyond what we would expect, after all the weather is out of their control. The site and toilet facilities was immaculate. Our pitch was near the entrance and we could see how busy the office was at arrival times, hence I guess why it states a 12 o'clock arrival. We saw no end of people arriving before this time which must make their job very difficult. We would definitely go back.

BEWARE. Don't Get Caught Out

Just spent 5 nights here when we arrived I know we were 15 mins early before the 12 o'clock arrival time but the wardens locked the outer barrier and you can no longer pull into the arrival boxes. This is now a common practice, as any of you know who have visited this site before the road is very narrow and the vans which arrived just after me were now partially blocking the road which caused other motorists problems. Apparently from next year they are considered not letting you arrive before 1300 hours so beware.

Additional Service Point Required

We had a 5 night stay at what I would consider to be an average site which is starting to look a bit tired and in need of a makeover. We were pitched at the south end of the site and as already mentioned by others the road surface needs attention in places and some pitches were looking neglected with weeds. We also had problems with twigs falling from overhanging trees during a windy spell. The walk to the service point was considerable and when carrying a toilet cassette I found it a challenge. The site really needs an additional service point at the south end. The north end of the site appears to be in better condition and maybe that is why the site photos are mostly of that side. This was our first visit to this site and probably our last but it is perfectly usable and my advice would be stick to the north end pitches.

Disappointing staff, site & facility maintenance

The staff upon arrival seemed helpful but after being directed to the wrong pitches they turned into jobsworths meaning two of our group had to up sticks after already getting settled and re-pitch our vans. My van was then unknowingly sited under a dead tree which proceeded to drop branches onto my van roof, luckily without damage despite their size. As the site was full when I then complained I couldn't move (again). I was also told they were aware of the dead tree and it was due to be felled at the end of the season. Yet they were still allowing vans to use that pitch. The locks on the toilet block doors were also so worn it initially took one of our group almost 10 minutes to open the door, not what you need when you need to go urgently. So overall a good site spoiled by poor staffing and poor maintenance meaning a stressful stay not a relaxing birthday celebration as we had planned. We also noted next day that if you turned up as little as 1 minute before 12 you were not allowed on site, were not allowed to wait outside the gate and couldn't turn around with a van to go and wait elsewhere ....... Jobsworths again !!

1st time visit

Just had a lovely week at this site. This was our 1st visit and wouldn't hesitate in going back. Got a good welcome when we arrived. Site was well looked after as usual for a club site. Only down side for the site was the lack of public transport as it was about a 25 min walk to the nearest bus stop. Used the chip van on the Sat night. We had fish and chips which were freshly cooked when you ordered and the price and portion size was good also. Brian Burnett
