Lovely location and so much to do

This is a peaceful, well maintained site with friendly and professional wardens. I like the shower block and will be sorry to see it go following the proposed refurbishment this winter. I shall also be sorry if the grass pitches are lost, as they give the site an air of informality that I really enjoy. Access to the New Forest is excellent with masses of cycle and walking routes some of which are popular while others feel quite remote.

Excellent site

Such a lovely, quiet site. Wardens could not have been more helpful and friendly. Large well appointed pitches and lovely walks. Mile into brockenhurst and lots ponies! Toilet block unusual and a bit tired but that is being redeveloped in the autumn - hardly a criticism though.  The only thing would be to have more signposts to the site as I didn't know where I was going but got there with no worries.

Very good as usual

Endorse all the other comments about quiet, peaceful, in middle of the forest, and old but quaint loo block. I gather the loos are being demolished and rebuilt over the winter, which I think is a pity, the current design really does need refurbishing, but the quirky building and rooms are interesting. Shame they couldn't have just added a few more facilities attached to the existing block, but no doubt development is heavily controlled. We have a small dog, so always on the lookout for things one can do with the pooch in tow. Spinners Garden near Lymington was pleasant and admits dogs. Modest garden and tea room, but very pleasant £5 entry (RHS members free - yay!). Lymington market on saturday always worth a browse, nice coffees in the Stanwell House Hotel (very posh, and they're OK with doggies!) Ferry trip from Keyhaven to Hurst Castle (again dogs OK) made a pleasant BH monday (although a hint - take your own coffee here!!!).

Great Location and Base - Let down by some members

We stayed at this site before heading off to the Isle of Wight. It is a great location and a fantastic base for exploring the New Forest by foot or cycle - access to the cycle paths is fantastic. You can't beat going out for an early morning walk with the dog and wandering within the midst of the forest and amongst all the wildlife. Facilities are outdated, but, are perfectly adequate and clean and do the job. Our biggest bug bear with this site was some owners of dogs and some members who chose to play ball games around the site.  We have a dog and each and every day, I would take our dog out for a walk within the New Forest and if fouling occurred, promptly 'scoop' it up. I was disgusted by the number of members on this site who would simply allow their dogs to foul on other pitches and then not collect it. Several members found it acceptable to stand by their own van with their dog on an extendable lead and allow the dog to foul other pitches. With lots of walking available within minutes, I could not understand this.  In addition, given that their are huge expanses to kick footballs around, some members (and I'm not talking necessarily about children) seemed to think it acceptable to play games of football around others vans and motorhomes.  The on site Wardens were very helpful and do all they can.

Lovely location

Without doubt this is a lovely location. The toilet and shower block is past its sell by date but the wardens do a great job keeping them up to the C. C. standard.  The security is a bit lax as a few times cars were see circling the site Road The speed limit was an issue as some members were travelling far too fast with small children around.

Fab site to explore the new forest

This site is a beautiful quiet peaceful site in the new forest. There's so much to do within the new forest but it's also great base to explore others places nearby like Portsmouth or a quick ferry journey to explore the Isle of Wight.  Will definitely be back a week just wasn't long enough.  Unfortunately like a lot of the caravan club sites there are increasing numbers of members who disregard the 5mph limit on site. It makes it dangerous for children and adults and it very thoughtless. I wish more could be done to help enforce the limit. It's there for our safety.

Frequent visitor

Very good location. Can't fault the staff, but I do hope the wash block is rebuilt as promised next year. The staff do their best to keep the separate units clean, but they are very decrepit. It may be nice to get a cubicle all to oneself but you have to hover in order to get a vacant one and as there are few in relation to the number of pitches, it is quite a challenge. Wifi not a problem with 3G.

Excellent place to stay!

We stayed at this site for a week and were very pleased to be there. The site itself is wonderful, not too big, pitches are fine and the facilities, albeit not the most modern, are very convenient. The locked cubicles are extremely handy for a family with three children as you take all children in together and have a kind of private bathroom to use. They were kept as clean as possible and also the 'open' facilities were quite good. A few more sinks to do the dishes would be nice, but it is fine as it is. Wardens are very friendly. The site is beautifully situated and especially the horses who welcome you as soon as you exit the site's gate, are a treat the children very much enjoyed. Went riding as well which was great. Lyndhurst, Leamington, Isle of Wight, beach are all within easy reach. Wifi would be a nice addition and so would be a playground or playing field for ball games. Would certainly recommend this site.

Review

This is an excellent site in a good location. The staff are kind and friendly. In particular one of the staff helped me solve a problem that I had with my motorhome - I was extremely grateful. Excellent bike rides and walks all around.

Our favourite site!

We visit this site as often as possible.  It has so much to offer, being set in such a pretty part of the New Forest with the shallow river Ober, many walks, & bike rides close by.  The staff are so helpful and friendly, I love the shower block, it's all so clean, everything neat and tidy!  Close to Brockenhurst village or Lymington Harbour, all with every shopping need provided.  I would love to keep this site a secret hide-away!
