Good location but facilities a little 'tired'

Stayed here for 12 nights and overall we had a good time mainly due to the location - great for cycling and walking, its only a couple of miles from Brockenhurst so and for Sainsburys etc.  Its nice that the site has newspapers delivered everyday, a small but well stocked shop a and a fish & chip van on Thursdays (altho these were a bit disappointing in quality) - the showers etc are clean and basic and the individual units are great however they do need a facelift.  Only a couple of downsides - the pitches are quite close together (especially hard standing) so you are always close to someone, we also felt in the minority as we don't have a dog - while I don't mind dogs its some of the owners that are the problem - not keeping dogs on lead or allowing them to continually bark !!!

Overall Disappointing

This campsite, surrounded by the New Forest, is situated outside the village of Brockenhurst. The campsite itself is of a slightly unusual but pleasant layout with a large number of grass pitches. The facilities are outdated, but I understand that they are to be replaced this winter in time for the 2017 season. The biggest disadvantage on this site were the number of caravan club members who, despite having access to hundreds of acres of forest immediately outside the gate, continually walked their dogs around the site – with the expected results – certainly not what I wish to see whilst having breakfast. The wardens seemed unable to address this problem. If you are not a dog lover, I would avoid a visit here.

5 Star minus 2 .....

2nd visit to this beautiful site, we just love it! Set in the heart of the New Forest with lovely walks & cycle paths. Also has good selection of pubs & restaurants in Brockenhurst. Sadly though it still awaits the desperately needed facilities up-grade - hence my 5 stars minus 2. The wardens are lovely & do a fantastic job of keeping things clean & there is talk of an up-grade before next year so fingers crossed. Also on the downside there is no wifi signal although did manage to get mobile 3G. Definately worth a visit.

Not quite 5 star

Just back after an excellent week in the New Forest. If it wasn't for the dated and run down state of the unique ablutions block then I would be more than happy to give this Site 5 stars, which by this time next year it will surely be if the upgrades go ahead. I give the wardens full marks for their constant commitment in ensuring that the toilet block was kept as clean as it could be. Site is perfectly located amid the splendour of the Park, just a 15 min. walk from the centre of Brockenhurst. Though their are endless marked tracks for cyclists, footpath signs are in short supply. There may be 100 miles of paths but several are overgrown and others with gates locked and no stile. My advice for the walker is get a cycle route map and make sure you have an Ordanance Survey map plus GPS or compass particularly when you get in the middle of the woods where deer, horses and other wildlife abound.

An excellent site

We visited this site for the first time mid July 2016 . It is superb the staff are great and very friendly and cannot do enough for you . We visit our daughter in Lymington  and can't believe we had not thought of this site before . Brockenhurst is a great village and the surrounding area marvellous will be back soon .

Great site in need of facility upgrade

This site is in the heart of the New Forest with walks, cycleways and bridle paths on the door step. It's a 40 minute walk into Brockenhurst which is lovely with many restaurants and cafes. Plus it has the railway station and cycle hire from the station car park. The toilet block is in need of replacing and there is no wifi (mobile signal is OK with 3G). I believe these upgrades are scheduled for this winter.

Beautiful location

We try and visit this site every year.  Missed last year but so good to see old friends from previous years when we visited a few weeks ago. I love this site and look forward to visiting again when the improvements have been made. I can understand the comments made by my fellow member commenting on the number of dogs on the site.  I am a dog owner too but my dogs are well behaved and are quiet and kept under control. I do not understand why people allow their dogs to bark. However, the majority of people are responsible dog owners and I enjoy meeting fellow caravanners through my dogs. On the negative side, the road to the site needs urgent attention, beware of severe speed ramps that are not clearly marked and pot holes!  Having said this, the site along with Incleborough remain my favourite sites.  Beautiful, beautiful location.

Dogs Galore

This is a lovely site, well located and whilst I recognise the shower blocks are shortly to be refurbished the current facilities do let the site down. My biggest gripe is the control of dogs, clearly we are not dog owners and at times I feel we are very much in the minority. The site being predominantly grass pitches, there is a general acceptance for dogs to be given pretty much free rein. Whilst there are many responsible dogs owners, there are some that spoil it for others. Dogs messing outside the showers, outside our awning and some other areas all under the cover of dark, along with 20 foot dog leads for you to trip up over and constant barking! Whilst this can only be dealt with if seen by the Wardens, I do feel all of us should report these occurrences if and when they occur. I do feel that it is time for the club to start considering areas of club sites that are dog free, this I believe is becoming a serious issue. Whilst this may appear a rant, the site is ideally located within the New Forest for access to many points of interest.

Lovely location

This is a beautifully kept site with friendly and helpful staff, it is only let down by its poor washroom facilities and lack of wifi. I understand that both of these problems will be addressed this winter when the site is upgraded.  Good location about 30 mins walk from Brocklehurst. Surrounding countryside is beautiful and it is lovely to see the New Forest ponies wandering freely.

What caravanning is all about...

Lovely location ,well run, beautiful area.Wardens are efficiently friendly.Love the quirky rotunda shower block but it is dated/tired and must be a swine to keep clean. This site is different in the season-as is the area.It seemed overcrowded this time -our last visit was in May 2015.Lyndhust,in particular, was difficult to access and traverse
