This is my most visited site. The wardens are ace! The only rule is pitch up rear drivers side to peg. Other than that and the usual one way 5mph they are very relaxed. There was a wood fired pizza oven on the day we arrived. Alas this was a one off ad the pizza was amazing! Fish & chips van visits on a Thursday but I usually make the drive to the chip shop in Brockenhurst as it's better quality and quicker than the 45 minute queue! 4 stars for peace & quiet as someone next to use let their daughters play with plastic wheeled sit on rides on the tarmac at 7am! One thing this site could do with is wifi as mobile signal is hit and miss (really depends on where you pitch up) All clean and tidy, of course, except for grass damage where members have left a ground sheet down for two weeks! We took our Bongo, mini, & caravan. £2/ night charge for extra car! (First time we've been charged this but for the convenience it was worth it) boys slept in a 1 man tent and a hammock (on a frame) behind caravan and our use of the enclosed wood burning stove was welcomed! (We brought wood with us; don't collect it from the woods)
There is so much to do from this site! Best pub is The Foresters and small shops in Brockenhurst for all your needs really.
This is a large site right in the middle of the New Forest. Cattle grid and waiting ponies at the gate.
The wardens were friendly and helpful and the site was immaculately kept. Fantastic walks direct from the site.
The toilet block was a bit antiquated, but gather this is being replaced later this year, which will make it all very splendid.
A lovely site and one which we would be happy to visit again.
We go year in and year out so please don't book. A wonderful peaceful site with fantastic walks right outside the gate. Unfortunstely the shower block is becoming a joke very poor water pressure and no where near enough facilities when full. Was supposed to have been sorted last close season. Would recommend you stay away in case I can't book when I want to.
This is a lovely site in a perfect location. The facilities are due to be refurbished at the end of the season which will make it even more popular.
Wardens were great, very friendly and helpful
22 years on and off we have been going to this fantastic site lots of great times . Sorry to say this days the shower and toilet block r letting the site down
we stayed overnight at this site on are way down to devon
this is a great little site in the new forest with horses just outside the site next time we go down that way we would stay for longer hopefully the toilets and showers will be renewed as these are old and tired clean but worn out this is the only draw back a little childrens playground would also be nice on this site
Fantastic camp site staff was really helpful
And friendly facilities was close by but in need of a revamp but still enjoyed our stay
There is fish and chip van round on Thursday
There was freshly baked croissant in the office
Ice cream vans all around the forest
And plenty of toilets
Being in the middle of the forest with all the wild
Life was amazing we will definitely go back thank you for a lovely stay from rod Carol and Betty x
Just spent a great four nights at this brilliantly located site. Set right in the heart of the New Forest, you just step straight out of the front gate and you are faced with the forest, ponies, cows and miles of beautiful walks.
I know this will be going against a lot of reviews but my wife and I really liked the toilet/shower block. The individual cubicles containing toilet, shower and sink are useful and unusual.
The wardens were all very friendly, visible and eager to help.
The only downside we could see was that by the layout of the road around the site this encouraged a lot of the kids to use it as a bicycle race track.
We will definitely be going back.
I felt the toilet block & shower facilities are not up to scratch. Showers had bits broken and were stained with black mould.
There do not appear to be sufficient facilities for the number of pitches as visitors were still queuing at 10.20 to get a shower.
However, i am led to believe there is going to be a revamp during the close season.
Had a lovely week at Black Knowl. Great location just a mile or so from the high street. The pitches are open and roomy. We had loads of space which was nice. The facilities are old and dated but enough has been said about them and they did not spoil our break. The wardens and assistant wardens were absolutely lovely. Always had time for a chat and seemed genuinely happy. We will definitely return.
